Introduce your business and what you do there.

I was the founder and CEO of a startup called SiCAD that built a platform that hosted design tools on the cloud.

What challenge were you trying to address with Scriptuit Technologies?

We hired Scriptuit Technologies because we wanted the expertise of somebody who understood what the cloud had to offer and then could build a software platform that interacted seamlessly between the clients and the cloud. We found Scriptuit had the expertise and resources to address that particular need.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

SiCAD operated mainly with tools that were used to design chips, but Scriptuit quickly understood how the tools worked and how to integrate them with the platform we were building over the course of a six- or seven-month period. All their resources were folks who were familiar with HTML5, Java, and Python. Most importantly, they also were able to interact with Amazon Web Sources, the cloud platform we were using. They used the nuts and bolts of AWS [Amazon Web Services] to come up with the automation needed to set up that cloud. They got it up and running in record time. After that, it was more of the user interface, which they designed and implemented. It turned out to be a pretty good piece of software that was going to be usable across multiple domains.

How did you come to work with Scriptuit Technologies?

I’m from the region — Pune, India — where Scriptuit Technologies is based, and I had contacts there. When I began looking for this kind of help, I floated the word that I was seeking a company with these skills. I received about three references, and we talked to three or four companies, and then found Scriptuit to be the best suited.

How much have you invested with Scriptuit Technologies?

We invested about $50,000 to $60,000 with Scriptuit.

What is the status of this engagement?

I think we started working with them mid-2015 to December 2015, January 2016.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We deployed the platform for beta trials in multiple places, and it worked seamlessly. The trials were well received. The problems were more with the tools we were integrating and not with the platform itself.

How did Scriptuit Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

We had a good, healthy relationship with Scriptuit Technologies. Working with them was easy. I think they have a bunch of smart folks over there. We would get feedback on the platform, mostly in terms of the usability and user interfaces, and we would pass that information on to Scriptuit. They would implement the changes and turn it around exceptionally fast, basically overnight. The 12-hour time difference helped. We would tell them something in the evening, Pacific time, and by the time we got up in the morning, the work would be done.

What did you find most impressive about Scriptuit Technologies?

I enjoyed working with them, and I found their level of support impressive, which I think is key. It’s probably their No. 1 attribute. They were open to receiving feedback, and they were good at turning around projects quickly. They literally burned the midnight oil for us. They would join us for conference calls and WebEx meetings in the middle of their night when we were having live demos and runs so they could hear from the customer directly. They were able to grasp immediately what it was that we wanted to do. And they didn't nickel and dime us on assignments we gave them.

Are there any areas Scriptuit Technologies could improve?

I don't know how they are now, but at that time, I wished they had had even more resources because we needed more and more expertise. They may have hired more people by now. They wanted to hire the best, so they didn't just go about adding bodies. That was a big difference that we saw. Every single person we engaged with was pretty smart.

My primary role is CTO, making sure that we as a team have technologies that are up to speed and are backward compatible so any future enhancements can be taken care of easily without any major change requirements. We are a startup company with an ad-based revenue stream that comes through a lock screen Android app.

What challenge were you trying to address with Scriptuit Technologies?

Being a startup company, we were looking for another firm to provide us some kind of development effort that can contribute to our business.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Scriptuit Technologies has provided a major effort toward our business development. What was, at first, just a part-time engagement with Scriptuit has turned into a full-time partnership, and we have been working with them now for two years. They continue to give us more online resources.

How did you come to work with Scriptuit Technologies?

We had clients, and we knew people who had used Scriptuit Technologies before.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together about two years ago, and our relationship is ongoing.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We're growing. When we started working with Scriptuit, we didn't have a single app download, and now we've had more than 10,000. They've definitely helped from a technological and business standpoint.

How did Scriptuit Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

They have managers who work to make sure that everything is coordinated.

What did you find most impressive about Scriptuit Technologies?

I've been amazed by their teamwork and effort. When we need help, they make sure they give us the right expertise and resources that we need. They're good at sticking to a plan, implementing a plan, and quickly completing revamps, enhancements, and changes. The whole process has been smooth and easy with Scriptuit. Every project has its ups and downs, but our interactions have been good so far.

Are there any areas Scriptuit Technologies could improve?

Nothing that I can think of. It's been good.
