- Our core objective was to inject intelligent automation into our operational ecosystem. We needed to transition away from static data sorting toward a dynamic, AI-driven model that could accurately interpret nuanced public sector member files, accelerate claim routing, and reduce the heavy administrative burden on our teams. Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
SCALACODE embedded themselves into our operational workflow to execute a multi-phase artificial intelligence development initiative. They initiated the project with an exhaustive discovery phase, auditing how data flowed across our individual and collective insurance contracts, as well as our mutual care centers. Following this evaluation, they engineered a custom Natural Language Processing framework tailored to the specific terminologies of the French public health and insurance sectors. The primary deliverables included: An intelligent document processing engine capable of reading, categorizing, and validating complex medical receipts, public service employment verifications, and policy applications. An AI-powered routing system that automatically flagged anomalies in claims, ensuring that standard requests moved swiftly to approval while complex cases were instantly escalated to the appropriate specialists. A specialized semantic search tool for our human resources teams, designed to parse candidate profiles against our vast catalog of support and care-focused roles, effectively matching applicant skillsets with our internal organizational culture. Comprehensive, secure integration bridges that allowed these new AI layers to communicate flawlessly with our legacy mainframe databases without causing a single minute of system downtime.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The operational shift has been profoundly felt across our entire organization. By automating the preliminary validation of incoming claims, we managed to slash days off our average processing cycle, allowing our members to receive payouts and coverage confirmations far faster than before. Our administrative teams saw an immediate reduction in repetitive data entry work, which freed them up to focus on direct member advocacy and complex case management. In our human resources department, the match quality for new hires saw a massive leap forward; recruiters now spend their hours interviewing highly compatible individuals rather than digging through mismatched resumes. We observed a substantial drop in document processing errors, and our capacity to handle bulk collective contract updates during peak seasonal periods expanded significantly, all achieved without needing to expand our baseline overhead.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
The engineering team at SCALACODE approached this massive undertaking with a level of structure and transparency that kept our internal stakeholders entirely at ease. They operated on a highly disciplined bi-weekly sprint schedule, providing working software iterations at the conclusion of every cycle. Milestones were met precisely as outlined in the initial roadmap, which was incredibly impressive given the security hurdles inherent to handling sensitive medical and public sector data. Communication was fluid and completely devoid of technical jargon. When our internal compliance team raised unexpected concerns mid-project regarding specific regional data handling regulations, SCALACODE did not miss a beat. They adjusted their development trajectory immediately, reworked the data encryption layers, and absorbed the change without delaying our final launch date.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
What sets ScalaCode apart is their technical AI expertise and an understanding of a client's organizational ethos. Many technology vendors treat projects purely as code exercises, but SCALACODE took the time to understand the mutualist values of MGEN. They understood that to us, a claim is not just a data point—it represents a teacher, a healthcare worker, or a public servant relying on us during a vulnerable moment. Their engineers didn't just build algorithms; they built empathetic software designed to assist humans rather than blindly replace them. This alignment with our corporate social responsibility and civic mission made them feel less like an outside vendor and more like an organic extension of our own team.
Are there any areas for improvement or something ScalaCode could have done differently?
If there is any area where we could have optimized the engagement, it would be in the post-deployment training phase. SCALACODE delivered exceptional technical documentation, but because the AI tools they built were so advanced, our internal non-technical staff faced a steep learning curve during the first few weeks of adoption. Having SCALACODE conduct live, hands-on workshops for our department heads earlier in the transition process, rather than relying primarily on written handbooks and administrative guides, would have made the initial rollout even smoother for our end-users.
