When I first spoke with Hayley about the promotional interview series that I had in mind, she was more than helpful in expanding my ideas and bringing it to life. I'm an independent musician and I was in need of a production company to help me with an interview promotional series to promote my upcoming album. I was also looking to film a series of promotional visualizers for the pre release campaign.

Hayley and Sailfin went above and beyond. In our post production conversations, Hayley helped with graphic designs, audio, revisions, creativity in story line that improved the overall campaign to look seemless. We had a few meetings before the shoot date to create a story board for the series and to secure the studio, props and equipment for the shoot date. On the day of shooting Hayley ran a very professional and tight ship.

I felt like we were organized and on track with zero stress or pressure. We filmed the interview series in a matter of hours, and turned over the set quickly to achieve our creative visualizers with time leftover to debrief and get creative on further content that might be needed. In post, Hayley was quick with revisions and sending me the footage needed to begin my promotional campaign.

Only one or two revisions were needed, max.Hayley is so attentive to changes and adapts so well to the material. The whole project was a success and I'm very happy to release out into the world. I would not hesitate to work with Sailfin going forward with future video production projects.

Very organized crew. I wasn't knowledgable on everything needed for an interview series but Sailfin helped me with managing the correct crew and equipment needed and Hayley helped me create a custom estimate that fit the projects needs.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their creativity and Hayleys ability to be incredibly kind, funny and easy to work with but also very professional when need be. It felt like working with a friend, but I knew there would be no slacking nor was I ever nervous about making deadlines or running overtime while shooting.

I have worked with past production companies who didn't quite find the balance of working with ease and being professional it was usually one or the other which lead to deadlines being missed, or extremely uncomfortable working environments.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Sailfin Productions could have done differently?

Nothing that comes to mind. They delivered exactly what I needed.

Total Opening Consultants (TOC) works with architects and building developers to specify beautiful, functional and code-compliant door openings. I am the Director of Communications.

For what projects/services did your company hire Sailfin Productions?

We worked with Sailfin to create a 90-second promotional video that would illustrate our services and reel in our target customers. As a new company with a service that isn't always top-of-mind for our customers, we needed some engaging content that could get our message across quickly.

Video production is way outside our capabilities, so we needed Sailfin's advice to develop our concept, film the live-action content, coordinate the animator and voice actor, and edit and produce the final cut. They guided us through every stage of the project and took care of all the details. It was easy and fun!

What were your goals for this project?

We needed to raise awareness of our service and brand for our customers, and to add dynamic content to our website and social feeds.

How did you select this vendor?

Sailfin came highly recommended from a colleague who had worked with them in the past. We reached out to a few other companies, but Sailfin was by far the most organized, friendly and eager. It was a great fit.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail.

We described our initial concept to Sailfin and they worked with us to develop a clearer message and strategy, before creating a shot-by-shot storyboard. This processes helped us visualize the project in much more detail, cut the fat and hone in on our idea.

Sailfin did everything! They recruited an animator for custom illustrations, found actors, arranged an evening time shoot of one of our projects and helped with scripting the voice over. And of course they did all the video and audio editing and production.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

Communication with Sailfin's crew was superb at every step. They gave us plenty of opportunities for input and feedback, but also knew when to take charge and run with the idea. Hayley was the lead on our project.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

At the time of filming, TOC was a new company and provided a service that most of our clients don't think of often. The video Sailfin produced for us helped establish our brand and our key message. Feedback from our clients has been excellent. The video has helped boost awareness and engagement while adding professionalism to our online presence.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Workflow on our project was easy. Sailfin was responsive and fun to work with. They made everything simple and met all of our scheduling targets.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

From our initial meeting, it was clear that Sailfin knew what they were doing. They took our (very rough) initial concept and quickly turned it into a compelling story.

The production value of the final video was exceptional, but we were most impressed with the way they found the story behind our service and showed us how to make it resonate with our target audience.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The project couldn't have been easier for us. Sailfin did amazing work and the outcome was better than we imagined. I can't think of anything that could be improved.

We arrived at Sailfin Productions with a hard drive packed with raw footage from a two-day shoot. Put in the capable hands of Sailfin's capable staff, the footage was processed, synced with sound, and organized for editing. 

All of this is a huge job and it was taken care of before we even arrived at their offices to begin assembling the final product. The shots were expertly assembled into scenes, getting cut to fit a narrative flow. Along with video editing, the audio files were also processed, adjusted as needed, and attached to the scenes. 

Finally, titling and music were added to the project, leaving us with a finished film that was not only looked and felt like a high-end professional product, but exceeded our wildest expectations. The hard drive contained all the original files, editing files, and finished, exported files ready for sharing. The whole process was seamless and impeccably organized.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Editing a narrative film project can be an exacting, difficult process, but everyone at Sailfin made it great. From a completely professional demeanour to a very empathetic understanding of our goals, we felt confident in the suggestions we received.

Between the completion of our project in September 2022 and the time of writing this (June 2023), our project has won 11 awards and laurels at film festivals around the world, with more in the offing. It is no exaggeration to say that none of this would have been possible without the help and guidance provided by Sailfin Productions.

We met regularly, set specific goals for each editing session, and met those goals. At the same time we tracked progress of the project as a whole. Of course we encountered technical glitches, and random delays (life happens), but the work was delivered on time, on budget, and at the level of quality expected.

We love their extraordinary balance of technical skill, professional conduct and empathy; they understood our project, did what was needed to bring it to fruition, and had the technical abilities to back up each and every promise and suggestion. In our experience it's incredibly rare to find a production company that balances these three qualities.

Nothing comes to mind. We never felt like we had to take a back seat, even though Sailfin had multiple projects on the go.
