Ranq approached us via an email outbound campaign; it was an engaging pitch, which caught my attention. As we were looking for SEO assistance, I took a call with one of the co-founders and was impressed on two counts:

• he did not make unrealistic promises.

The relationship is managed directly by one of the directors so we have a single point of contact for all work streams which is super helpful. Ranq employs a team of highly competent copywriters to complete the weekly writing assignments, and a technical team that reviews our website and makes recommendations for optimization.

Since working with Ranq we have seen a marked increased in the number of website inquiries we have received from organic search.

We're trying to improve our marketing process for our inbound leads.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired Ranq to conduct keyword research and identify opportunities to improve our inbound leads marketing process. We started the project by discussing and analyzing our current marketing situation. I informed them of our positioning and competitors and provided them with an outline of our goals.

Ranq has performed keyword research for us. They were more thorough than we had performed in-house, so we are quite happy with the way they conducted it. Aside from that, they create optimized content for us. We first let them know what our voice is and provided them with any additional information about our target audience. After that, they started creating all of our content for us.

I’ve worked with three people from Ranq.

How did you come to work with Ranq?

I wasn’t happy with the other SEO companies I had worked with before, so I started looking for a company with a more defined SEO process. As I was searching through SEO articles, I came across a backlinking article created by Ranq. I resonated with the article and agreed with the findings, so I decided to reach out to them and talk to them about our problems and needs.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend around $5,000 per month, so I’d say we’ve spent somewhere around $20,000 so far.

We’ve seen an increase in our site traffic and inbound lead volume.

How did Ranq perform from a project management standpoint?

Ranq probably has the best project management out of all the companies I’ve worked with. They’ve been meeting their actual deadlines in terms of content creation and reporting. They’re extremely communicative and organized, and they provide me with regular progress and performance updates through Monday.com, Slack, and Google Sheets. This is very convenient for me because I can see their progress in real-time and can easily report it to the executive team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed with Ranq’s transparency. They’re very clear about what they do, and they go above and beyond to communicate everything to me. They lead a very straightforward and honest process. They’re very flexible too, and they do everything efficiently and effectively.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I think it would be nice if they had any form of link-building team. But overall, they've been doing great.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to manage your expectations about SEO because results do take a while to show. It’s also good to know what you want and to give them as much information about your positioning, brand, and tone of voice as you can.

We were building backlinks for a company with a well-established brand and strong authoritative presence , but it was clear they needed a lot more work in terms of on-site SEO and content - to beat smaller competitors on highly targeted, competitive keywords. With the help of Ranq we were able to work in tandem and achieve SERP domination for the target keywords.

I've asked several in-house SaaS SEO project managers for recommendations, and Ranq was mentioned a few times. We ultimately landed on Ranq because they were transparent, communicated clearly and concretely, and showed a great understanding of how content and audience connect.

Ranq handled the entirety of the technical SEO and content side of the project. Technically, this was a very demanding project that needed leadership. Ranq provided that leadership, fixed major issues on the site, and deployed detailed optimizations on key revenue-generating pages that they iterated on over time. They also developed a content strategy and delivered about 30,000 words of content, plugging words into tactical places on the site to build traffic where it mattered.

We worked with four people on Ranq's side: an account manager, a project manager, and the technical SEO lead, and the SEO director. I believe they also had resources under them, but we didn’t interact with them.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

In the 6 months of work, new users coming from organic traffic had risen by over 50% and was still climbing. Keywords were up significantly, and traffic had risen site-wide as well.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

One of the best things about Ranq is the organisation and workflow. They have project plans that are updated in real time that you can look at whenever you want. We got routine updates twice a week, and we had a dedicated Slack channel for quick communication outside of that.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They’re leaders. It’s going to be extremely rare that they’re not the experts in the room – especially with difficult technical SEO challenges – and they have very, very streamlined processes to support that expertise. They knew how to get results and they kept working until they did.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They seem to have a strong desire to solve the problem and generate results, which sometimes means iterations were deployed too quickly. Not a huge deal, but every once in a while, a detail was missed here or there.

After implementing the SEO recommendations from the audit, our client was able to improve their organic search visibility in the span of a few months.

Their level of professionalism was unmatched. Perrin's communication level is incredible. He breaks down complex SEO topics into digestible ones for clients who might not have a great deal of SEO knowledge.

Nothing that I can think of. Ranq delivered a fantastic product at a very reasonable price.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Ranq writes SEO content for us around specific topics for one of my content sites. They write per the top-ranked search terms and ensure that our content ranks well on Google. 

They handle link building through various sources to ensure our site remains relevant, including guest posting and skyscraper techniques. Links are built to our site so that our SEO can rank higher. 

They’ve also provided the same services for another one of my sites, which they also managed for six months. The second site is on WordPress, and it was fresh when the project started. Though I had content ideas in place, they executed the SEO strategy from scratch. 

They created a pipeline of content based on the ideas I suggested. They’d look at keywords and analyze them to ensure they were relevant and ranked well on Google. Then, they’d present the highest-ranking keywords to me along with topic opportunities, and I would prioritize the topics I thought were most relevant. From there, they’d create the content from scratch and publish it on the site.

I’ve interacted with three people from Ranq, though I don’t know how many teammates they have working in the background. 

I’ve worked directly with Perrin (Co-Founder & Strategy Lead), the CTO who helps manage the technical side of deployment and implementation, and an account manager who works with me directly and manages their content writing process.

How did you come to work with Ranq?

I follow marketing experts on YouTube and podcasts and subscribe to their courses, and Perrin used to work for them. I’d known of Perrin’s content and listened to him on podcasts for many years before he branched out on his own along with the CTO to found Ranq. 

When I was ready and looking for services, I contacted Perrin. I let him know I’d heard him on the podcasts and wondered if he could help me out.

So far, we’ve spent about $35,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2019, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Ranq got my primary content site ranking on the first page of Google. According to Google Analytics, for the property that previously had zero content, they took the site from zero to 4,000 pageviews per month within six months. 

I’m 100% satisfied with their work. Ranq manages everything from writing exceptionally good content through publishing. They find the right image, ensure that the article is search-engine compatible, and take care of all the technical aspects through deployment. 

Going into the engagement, I wanted to be as hands-off as possible, and with Ranq, I can be. Their work takes a load off my shoulders — they’ve been exceptional, exceeding my expectations.

How did Ranq perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is very good. Our budget predetermines the number of words they write and the organic links they attempt to create per month, and they’ve always stuck to it. They’re transparent and keep to their word.

Typically, clients have to stay on top of agencies to see where they are in the writing process. Meanwhile, Ranq has always been proactive about keeping me updated — I’ve never had to follow up excessively.

They always have a report for me Monday morning. If I want an additional debriefing, Perrin gets on a 30-minute video call with me to explain the entire process, where we are, and what actions he needs from me.

We use email to communicate and often have video calls via Google Meet. Though their team communicates on Slack, I didn’t check it often and told them I’d rather not use it. They were okay accommodating me and keeping me in the loop via email. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Ranq is exceptionally good at content writing. They have a remarkable ability to analyze what content works well, design the top of the funnel, and execute it in a very timely fashion.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think there’s anything they need to do differently. However, because of what I’m looking for now, it would be great if Ranq could identify revenue-generating content. Though this is not their specialty, generating monetization ideas is something they could expand to; it could be their next step.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be transparent with what kind of engagement model you want from Ranq. They’re not a company looking for hundreds of clients every month; they give each of their customers the attention they require. In return, be transparent with what you want.

For instance, I provide a lot of input for the main project. With the second project, I was starting completely from scratch, so I gave them free rein; they took care of the strategy end-to-end and just made sure they validated what topics to write about. If you dictate the model, Rank will be flexible enough to work the way you’d like to.

We didn’t encounter any issue about the budget as Ranq operated within our constraints. Their support allowed us to be hands-off on the project, which we preferred. 

Nonetheless, Ranq sent us weekly emails about their progress, and they were very transparent. They also submitted deliverables on time. We used Trello and emails to collaborate.

Ranq had a boutique agency feel — their team always had time for me, and I was always speaking with real humans. They were transparent and personable.

Ranq works best if a company already has a good domain authority foundation but lacks technical infrastructure and content creation resources.

Ranq consistently demonstrates such care for their clients by consistently checking in on us and providing us updates. We already worked with Ranq in the past to build out our blog content.
