What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Initial launch of the product went very well with no major reprogramming tasks. This resulted in an identifiable uptick in adherence (usage) of the devices by patients and a decline in device churn.

We consulted with QualityLogic to ensure we built an ADA-compliant website. Initially, we had a few calls with Rachel (Client Engagement Manager) to address our questions. Then, we scheduled a call with their team to meet the onboarding specialists and the teammates who would orchestrate the audit. We also discussed expectations and the ADA compliance level we wanted to achieve. 

After they sent us a proposal, we had another quick call to ensure we were on the same page. Then, we executed it.

Apart from Rachel, we also worked with Nels (Director Test Services) and another teammate.

How did you come to work with QualityLogic?

QualityLogic was a referral from our customer. Their parent company utilized the QualityLogic team in the past, so they referred us to use them, too. We’d never done ADA before, so we got Rachel on the phone several times. She addressed our questions and made the process seamless, so we felt it was a good decision to move forward with QualityLogic.

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement lasted from February–April 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We officially passed the ADA compliance and completed it; we passed because of QualityLogic.

How did QualityLogic perform from a project management standpoint?

They were organized and delivered the product under budget. We communicated via email and used a live Microsoft Excel document to track updates.

Rachel was great. She was so friendly and helpful. She walked us through the process and didn’t charge us for any of that time. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were responsive and provided us with the information we needed. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We hit some snags with certain pieces of the website not passing the ADA compliance test. We needed more information and thoroughness a few times. However, they did provide the information we needed. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be as organized as possible, and consistently track and make updates. Many things happen at once, so ensure you’re tracking all of it. If you have questions, QualityLogic won’t hesitate to answer them.

I'm the VP of product and service delivery for an identity and access management software provider. We build our own software for identity and access management, and once we sell it, we implement that software as well. I've been with my company for 18 years.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with QualityLogic?

As mentioned, we build our own software, so we have a lot of end UIs. We also work with multiple public and higher education institutions, which require us to ensure that our UIs are ADA-compliant. This also requires a VPAT to be confirmed.

We had already received the ADA certification with an old UI, but we recently launched a new and updated UI, so we had to get it reviewed and certified again to ensure that the VPAT was good to go. Therefore, we hired QualityLogic to review our software and provide us with details as to what needed to be fixed and how.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we provided QualityLogic with access to our QA instance. Although multiple QA organizations use bots for automated QA, it's usually hard to find every issue without human intervention. Therefore, QualityLogic brought various users with different types of disabilities to use our software suite, go through all the different features, and click everything to ensure the UI is keyword-accessible.

Throughout this process, QualityLogic also documented any changes needed or issues they ran into. Whenever they found something, we fixed it, and they revised it to see if the issue had been fixed as per the requirements. The initial process lasted around 30 days. However, we're now working on implementing fixes to the issues they've found, and we're enhancing features as well. Once we finish the new features, we will bring QualityLogic again to review them.

As for the technology stack, QualityLogic has used JAWS, which is a screen reader used for visual disability assistance. However, I don't know how many other screen readers they leverage.

What is the team composition?

I've worked with around five teammates from QualityLogic, including Rachel (Client Engagement Manager), a project manager, and two or three engineers working on providing feedback. Still, I've mainly worked directly with Rachel and the project manager to oversee the project.

How did you come to work with QualityLogic?

We had done this type of work in the past for another organization, so we knew it was expensive. When I found out about this project, I started doing some research and came across QualityLogic on multiple Google searches. I also met with three other vendors, but QualityLogic was the most attentive, giving the most information and telling me how they would do different things. They really gave me the confidence that they could do what we needed.

During the vetting process, QualityLogic's sales representatives were very engaged and knew what they were talking about. Their price was also a bit cheaper than the other organizations, but their sales representatives and what they provided made us choose them.

How much have you invested with them?

Our initial engagement was $15,000, and the current purchase order is for another $20,000 to do the rest of the work.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around October 2023, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

QualityLogic has gone through every piece of our software and ensured that it's VPAT compatible, allowing us to get the UI certified. This certificate is important because we send it out as part of our RFP responses and to other people who want to buy our product. That certificate was what we wanted and is what we've gotten. I expect to get the same result within the second half of 2024 for the software updates we've launched.

How did QualityLogic perform from a project management standpoint?

Overall, QualityLogic's project management is very good. When going through the QA process, they provide daily updates detailing the status, which is very helpful. Whenever we have a change request, they're able to accommodate that within a couple of days, getting resources to test out additional UI features.

QualityLogic has stuck to our budget. Initially, they gave me an idea of the initial cost, as well as a 50% over top of that for the remediation testing. Thus, they've basically been right on budget. Basically, their team has kept the project on track and moved it forward.

The vast majority of our communication has been via email. We've also had a couple of Microsoft Teams meetings. In addition to that, QualityLogic has used Microsoft Project for project management, and we've used SharePoint to share documents with all the details. Still, they send emails to let me know the items they test every day and tell me to check the results in an Excel spreadsheet they provide.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Rachel has been very communicative and great at ensuring that we're getting what we want. My initial email to them was sent during a weekend when I was working on the selection process. I just asked them for details, and within an hour on a Saturday evening, I got a long response back from Rachel detailing how they could help us and getting a meeting set up.

What did you find most impressive about them?

QualityLogic's communication distinguishes them from other providers. Other organizations I've worked with have been rather quiet and only provide yes-or-no type of responses. However, communication is key in these projects, so that skill sets them over the top.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There's nothing QualityLogic could improve on. Any delays have been on our side, and overall, I've been very pleased with the work and effort I've been getting from them.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

It's key to have readily available information so that QualityLogic can understand your software and how it works. If they give you a date, they'll be ready to jump into the project by then, so ensure you have your software ready to go.

QualityLogic provided thorough details anytime they found errors, even sending us videos of the issues they found. They also asked us what they should see if they had any concerns.

They communicated well with me during our projects. We had check-ins during the week and received emails at the end of each day. We were also in constant communication via Slack if there were any questions. They reported bugs on Jira.

Thoroughly talk to QualityLogic about whether or not your project falls under their field of expertise. Align with them on expectations — ask for what you need, and they’re more than willing to be flexible.

The long-term nature of the engagement speaks to the quality of their work. QualityLogic was a wonderful partner, supplied quality work, and was very consistent. We would recommend their services to anyone in need of software testing.

QualityLogic met deadlines and supplied strong project management. We worked with them for an extended period of time and never had to worry about project management because Andrew worked with us for the entire duration of our engagement. Their team was communicative and responsive. We communicated through Microsoft Teams and email and used Jira for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?
QualityLogic worked quickly, and we were highly impressed with the quality of work they provided.

Ensure they have access to the platform that you’re working out of so they can cross-communicate and collaborate. If you let them into your process fully, they will be more successful and effective.

Perform release regression testing to support our 2 week cycles and report defects and blocking defects out to the team. Additionally to attend weekly sync meetings regarding new features and changes to existing features and to update the regression plan accordingly.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The success measurement has been measured by tracking the overall number of bugs and blocking bugs per release and the duration it takes to perform the regression sweep. It's not the best measurement because QL comes in at the end of a sprint/cycle to perform release regression. That being said the numbers have been on the decline and the team has done a great job staying consistent with the release testing cycle and they are not filing bugs just to report on numbers. 

All bugs found by the team have had nothing but positive impact and have been well received by every team. The bugs are also clearly written which leads to fast turn around time with fixes.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

The team delivers within the expected timeline consistently. They also do a good job handling requests as they come in, which is a common occurrence at startups in full growth mode. Nikki does a wonderful job reviewing Kyle's work. I completely trust them, which wasn't the case with previous contract testers that I had used in prior employers.

I like that they worked with me to deliver exactly what we wanted in our relationship. They do not ever try to upsell me on anything and never pressure me to buy into more. It really makes me respect the values of the company.

I’m the associate director of IT security and compliance at a university. We have an intergovernmental agreement with a Medicaid agency in our state. Given that, we have certain capabilities in the university space to help solve Medicaid problems.

What challenge were you trying to address with QualityLogic?

We hired QualityLogic to collect artifacts from Medicaid providers to make decisions about Medicaid services.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We created an external-facing portal for Medicaid providers to submit artifacts to us. Our team had an approval process in place, and the approved artifacts would go into a legacy system. We worked with an implementation for the portal, but I noticed that ADA compliance requirements were not a part of their testing plan. QualityLogic helped us with that, and they collaborated with the implementation vendor.

Currently, QualityLogic provides digital accessibility audit and consultation services for our university. The app isn’t live yet, but we’re getting ready to pilot it in the next weeks.

I’ve had a lot of back and forth with Clyde (Head of Growth). Apart from him, 2–4 other teammates have been involved in the app testing. Nathan (App Testing Specialist) leads the audit process.

As I was trying to build relationships with the university, I reached out to somebody that dealt with varying degrees of testing not just for ADA compliance but also for performance testing. I talked to the lead of our testing unit about our project, and they suggested QualityLogic. The first person I reached out to was Clyde. He got back to me immediately.

We’ve invested around $20,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement started in July 2023, but the ADA testing happened in October 2023. The engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

QualityLogic has met my expectations, and they’re exactly what we need to get ADA compliance. They’ve done their job and worked well with the implementation vendor. Moreover, they have an independent ADA compliance team, and we’re going to continue working with them. They’ve found a lot of problems with our ADA compliance requirements, which the implementation vendor has to clean up. QualityLogic is going to come back and retest the system to see where we’re at. 

Further, we’re going to add more functionalities to our portal moving forward, I’d like to maintain a long-term relationship with QualityLogic. We’ll have further engagements with them to do ADA audits on our behalf to ensure we keep up our compliance. 

How did QualityLogic perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management has been great, and I’ve heard nothing but good things. I’ve been truly pleased with Nathan and his team’s work. We’ve had some hiccups in terms of getting somebody from QualityLogic into the university, but Clyde has worked behind the scenes well and remediated that problem quickly. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I don’t have the technical expertise to fill the gap in our project. Luckily, QualityLogic has been a great partner. Everything they’ve done — from their timeframes to their collaboration with other ADA people — has been truly helpful.

No, there aren’t any.

Prepare the SOW, and be clear about the work you want QualityLogic to do. If you do a good job of sizing that up, they’re going to deliver. Spend some time on getting the SOW right, and you won’t be disappointed.

I’m the QA manager of the payments and hardware side of an e-commerce company. My department handles the hardware testing of readers, printers, payment flows, scanners, and similar things.

Our team had to test a lot of devices from different sources and with different operating systems, such as iOS and Android. As a result, we hired QualityLogic to help us do regression testing on all of the hardware and software.

The initial process of onboarding QualityLogic was done before my time. I only came in and took over the engagement as the middleman between QualityLogic and our company. 

Since we had many features going into production, we wanted to give more flexibility to our engineers. That way, they could focus more on urgent tasks, such as writing code, while QualityLogic assisted them with end-to-end tasks. Because we were doing releases biweekly, we used the team’s support for testing features every week.

We worked with 3–4 teammates from QualityLogic. I mainly interfaced with the testing team lead but not with the rest of the team.

QualityLogic worked with us from August 2020–August 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Any app that involved hardware could be difficult to test, especially since we had to find the right expertise to do the testing and make sure a proper environment was set. QualityLogic did an amazing job in this realm. Their task included automating tests for a product that was integrated with hardware, and there was money involved since users used the products for payments. Despite these things, they still did a great job. 

How did QualityLogic perform from a project management standpoint?

QualityLogic achieved our goals. I never had any issues in terms of their task completion since they’d always been able to do the tests we needed them to do. Moreover, they always met deadlines — there were some days when they were the ones waiting for us to give them what they needed. 

Meanwhile, we didn’t use any project management tools, but we did use a test tracking system. This system allowed us to see what the team was doing. A lot of our communication was done through Slack and Google Meet. We usually had a 15-minute meeting per week to discuss what the upcoming releases would look like or talk about any of their questions or concerns. They also gave us daily updates through email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their testing lead was extremely great. She didn’t only do things by the book but also did a great job alerting me of the things they noticed. For instance, if they did tests A, B, and C and I wanted to see the results, she also made sure to do tests D, E, and so on. They’d bring my attention to any weird thing they’d notice in those extra tests. This helped us identify bugs that may have flown under our radar. Overall, they did an amazing job in this area.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there weren’t any. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

QualityLogic will test what you give them. If you want them to do more, then you have to give them more room to do exploratory testing. They’re experienced professionals, so they’re not only good at doing exploratory testing but also great at beta testing. If you have a new feature launching into production soon, they can test it. They can give you good and honest feedback on how they feel about the new feature.

I am the Director of Engineering for a medium sized e-commerce company. We provide services to clients that want to sell their products on-line and other clients that want to market those products through an affiliate relationship.

We utilized Quality Logic for staff augmentation to provide quality assurance testing on our application changes prior to deploying those changes to production.

SOLUTION

How did you select this agency and what were the deciding factors?

We found this agency through a local referral to help with staff augmentation while we worked on our automation testing and capabilities. They had the skills and approach needed to perform the manual testing functions that we needed.

They provided up to 4 quality assurance testers, a technical lead and a project manager to work on the manual testing for multiple major projects and application support efforts. At least one tester was assigned to each team and in some cases certain team members covered multiple projects simultaneously.

The team worked well in performing the manual quality assurance work that we needed.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our workflow requires a high level of business process and systems knowledge. It took some time to gain that knowledge and once team members understood both the business process and systems the workflow began to look seamless.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were impressed with the commitment of the team to ensure the success of the projects that they worked on.

Resource turnover had caused some issues early on.
