The project entailed QSD's development of a comprehensive mobile application capable of recording, transcribing, and managing tasks from meetings that an AI teammate attended. This mobile app was developed by QSD for both iOS and Android platforms. The app's objective was to enhance productivity, collaboration, and transparency within teams by facilitating user-friendly, on-the-go access to meeting records and related tasks. It was powered by intelligent features including, but not limited to, AI-powered transcriptions, task assignment and management, and smart note-taking. The detailed scope of work implemented by QSD is as follows:

We actually found them through LinkedIn. We were impressed with how their owner operates their company, so we ended up hiring them for this project. Their team was also very honest, direct, and down-to-earth. They weren’t the typical outsourcing partner who says yes to everything — they would tell us directly if something doesn't work or is a bad idea.

We spent around $100,000 USD.

We started working together in October 2020, and it’s an ongoing collaboration.

My experience working with them has been positive; they’ve delivered everything on time. 

How did QSD perform from a project management standpoint?

They don’t do much of the product management for this project because they’re part of a strong scrum team. However, they’ve generally done well in this regard. They’re also really open to working with our team and employing our Scrum process. We mainly use Jira, GitHub, and Microsoft Teams to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed with their skill set, transparency, and leadership — it’s easy to discuss everything with their manager.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should hire more people.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to clearly know and define your goals properly; their team knows how to solve things if they understand what needs to be done.

We had a series of models built, and we wanted to make those available through a mobile application. We used QSD BIH to develop those applications and integrate them into our cloud-based backend.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We needed them to build the app from scratch. We had the initial design, architecture, and models running in AWS. We also had the APIs for them to integrate the apps into.

The team had to build out the frontend, integrate it into our backend, and ensure everything was running smoothly. We had an iOS and Android version. They also implemented tracking for us throughout the app.

I believe we worked with four people in total, including a project manager and three developers.

We found them through sales channels. We looked at their past projects and reviews from their customers. All of those were positive.

We had a few discussions with them before we started. We wanted to understand what they knew and what their capabilities were.

We’ve spent around $20,000.

We started working with them in early June 2020, and the main section of work was wrapped up in January 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We worked in sprints. That went quite well, but there were challenges along the way. We mainly measured the deliverables of each sprint. In the end, we needed functioning applications that we could use. They delivered that.

How did QSD BIH perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m quite impressed with the way they ran the project. We had multiple video calls a week with them. Sometimes, we had daily 15-minute calls. We also could get in touch with them through email. It worked really well. Their team was responsive, and their project manager made sure that we always had the right resources.

They provided the documentation, and we were shared their project management plan to see what they were working on. We also were shared on the budget spend. It was very transparent.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What their team did was very good quality. Often, projects can be buggy or don’t work. But these apps didn’t crash, which is rare. It was more visual aspects that we wanted to change. The code they wrote really impressed me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We did have a slight language barrier, but there’s not much that they need to improve. They delivered what they were meant to do, and it worked extremely well. It was probably one of the best app development engagements I’ve had.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The way we approached it was to see what QSD BIH had done in past projects. We looked at the team size and customers. Make sure their team size fits, and make sure you fit with what they do. You’ll get a very good result out of them.

Once we've selected, we worked on a proof of concept pilot project. We created a quick prototype for them to review and estimate. The project is delivered on time and budget. From there, we started to work improving various aspect of the apps and respond to the customer requests in an an agile way.

We've been assigned a project manager to help us, but collaboration also went smoothly and transparent between our developers and their mobile developers. We also implemented Git version control where all changes can be tracked and monitored.

The initial project was delivered within 3 months. The app is published on both iOS and Google Play Store.

Over the years we have extra chalanges on how to create a branded version of the app for some of our customers and advice that QSDBiH provided was strategic in terms of simplifying codebase that we have to maintained.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

QSDBiH is responsive and we use both Slack and Jira KanBan board to collaborate. If discussion needed we can also jump in on a Zoom call.

QSD BiH is extremely helpful, they are easy to work with and open to our suggestions and discussion.

We are very satisfied with their work so far. A regular business catch up might be a nice touch.

From management to every single employee. There was great devotion to the project and a clear understanding of mutual success. They know their stuff.

As with all companies, there are things to work on. The important thing for us was to reach our goal and within budget. Due to the state of the project prior to their involvement, the original budget was exceeded. However, this was more than acceptable due to the fact that they found and fixed problems beyond the original scope. The budget for the work as a whole was a clear value-for-money situation.

We needed specific technical skills, which we didn’t have in our team.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Based on our specifications and design, QSD BiH has helped with some backend PHP development. They also helped us with a client web app, where we needed additional manpower on the same technology stack.

We were building a social network for a client. It was a full-stack project including mobile client apps, a web application, and a backend, which was essentially an API designed by us.

QSD BiH helped us implement a server with a custom API that the client apps would talk to. The whole project was a purpose-built social network for a specific client.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with four software developers, including two backend PHP developers and two frontend web developers.

How did you come to work with QSD BiH?

I was introduced to them by a mutual acquaintance who was doing sales work for them, and they happened to find me at the right time.

They had the right tech stack, and they were easy to communicate with, which was a major factor. They were also affordable, and they had WordPress skills, although that was more of an insular need.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost so far is between $50,000–$100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing engagement with QSD BiH started in October or November 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

This project is on behalf of a client, and one metric is whether their work made us a profit, which it did. We were successful from that point of view. The platform fulfilled the client’s strategic objectives, and they’re happy with the results.

The app we shipped is rated 4–5 stars on the app stores. We were able to successfully ship a multiplatform product for Android, iOS, and web. We did a lot of it, but QSD BiH was part of that. They had a big part in the server work, which everything else depends on. The app itself received positive attention from Apple, which promoted it in the App Store.

How did QSD BiH perform from a project management standpoint?

We used Telegram to communicate and Zoom for weekly video calls. We used Phabricator for code review and task tracking.

What did you find most impressive about them?

QSD BiH has a very competent team. Our developers were always impressed by how much they knew their stuff. I was surprised by how responsive and engaged they were.

They were also compatible with our time zones. They made themselves available to collaborate when our team was around. We have people in different time zones, and their developers were often available, even though we didn’t overlap with their time perfectly. It was great for us.

QSD BiH got the job done well, and they weren’t crazy expensive. We were able to handle the budget.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really. I had to have a couple of conversations with them about resource allocation, where I wanted them to make a change, but they could do what I needed, and there wasn’t really an issue.

There’s no critical feedback that I would give. Everything’s working.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The advice I’d give to anyone working with a distributed team is to have good task tracking, code review methods, QA, and bug reporting.

If the client is in the US, it will work best if the developers are in the Eastern time zone. That has the most overlap with QSD BiH. Frankly, I don’t think of this as an issue. I was able to collaborate with them on the Pacific time zone too.

At coANDco UK, a digital agency which I founded and acted as a managing director we were implementing digital products and strategies for clients around the world.

For what projects/services did your company hire QSD BiH, and what were your goals?

We worked for a global client in the luxury segment. We required a very specific skill related to a very niche Android application in the field of location based services. This was for a coordinated marketing campaign on a global scale.

SOLUTION

How did you select QSD BiH and what were the deciding factors?

We got a number of suppliers to propose, but QSD convinced us with their great, honest advice. We were reluctant to work with a company that would say yes to everything and then fail to deliver. QSD was not like that. QSD was professional and told us exactly what is possible and what isn't. This allowed us to plan very well and manage expectations professionally accordingly.

First we needed to do a feasibility study to elaborate what is technically possible with the available software and hardware. QSD led this feasibility study and gave us a great overview of options going forward with different timescales and budget requirements. Once we decided with our end client what they like, QSD implemented the solution professionally and on time and budget.

There were some very specific challenges others could not tackle but QSD, due to their in-depth initial feasibility study was able to deliver according to expectations. The client was very happy with the product and after this initial project we kept working with QSD for other follow-up projects.

At QSD we mainly worked with one SPOC which kept the process nice and smooth, efficient and everybody knew what the current status was. Communication was always professional and effective.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The application received short of 80,000 users and during the period of the campaign, and the client was very happy. The app was for a marketing campaign of a Swiss luxury brand with a global footprint.

We used agile methodologies with frequent touch points and status updates. We always focused on any blockers and how to resolve them as smoothly as possible in order to keep the production process as smooth as possible. QSD was always very open to adapt our suggestions to alter the process but in general we were very happy with the workflows.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

There were some other suppliers that would not be able to tackle this very specialised skill required for this application. It had to do with a mapping and location based application without using Google Maps due to client requirements.

QSD found elegant solutions, managed the expectations well and delivered on time, quality and budget. Overall we were impressed with how well they kept managing everybody's expectations.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We couldn't have wished for a better partner. Back in 2015, QSD was not offering any back-end development. I guess it would have been handy if they would have offered that, too. I understand now they are doing that.

We were searching for a new development studio because the outsourcing vendor that we were using was not performing well. We came across QSD and started with a first smaller project. The communication was great from the getgo an QSD was very proactive when they provided solutions or suggestions of what could be done better. The project was delivered in time. They have created and maintained our mobile applications. We hold no.1 position on App Store and Play Store with millions of active users. They took care of all aspects of our mobile apps. They were also a great help for our web application. Aside from them, they are helping us with the customer support and also handle that our brand isn't breached.

What were your goals for this project?

To get to the first place on the app stores and to keep that position for as long as possible. For that, we needed a high quality app and a team who can get us there. We also needed a team who can provide us with advisory on the best practices, not the team that only codes.

We met by chance through one of our or their sales channel. I cannot remember any more as it was years ago. But in the process, we became friends.

I am more than happy with QSD. They are the utmost professionals and gurus of their field. We got not only contractors, but also friends who equally shared our passion for our brand. I have to be honest that I often felt like these guys are the brand owners, not only contractors.

We had ups and downs, like in every complex project. But I would not change a thing in the process.We advise each other on how to improve on both sides.

Their dedication, passion, professionalism, and expertise. They know how to create apps that will support millions of users and how to keep those users using the app for years.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Maybe in their process. They are transitioning to a mid-size company and their process has to change as well. But do not get me wrong, their process is not bad. They just have to adapt it. Aside from that, I really do not have anything to add. They are improving themselves so well that you do not have chance to notice if something is wrong.

We did not have any Android experts in our company anymore and needed someone who was an expert. We needed someone who was independent and would deliver quality work. That's why we contacted QSD, they upgraded our legacy application to a modern standard and did an excellent job.

We just found them online, can't remember exactly, but they were not too expensive and too cheap either, and they had a good reputation so that was enough.

We worked with their project manager and two developers. Both developers were Android experts but one of them was also an expert at something else that I can't remember what was.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The app was on the verge of being useless but QSD BiH has made it work 100% and it now offers a flawless UX.

They created their tasks according to our needs, we had specific problems that needed to be solved and they created tasks for that, distributed it amongst themselves and executed on them. They are really flexible with communication tools and we wanted to use slack so that was our main tool for communication. And they were really accurate on their time estimation for all projects. That made our cost estimations a lot more realistic and also managed my expectations, as their client, really well.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are just really nice to chat with, no bullshit, down to earth, agree to work any way we find best, so really flexible. Also I usually don't find a company that estimates their work hours so accurately, so that was fairly unique.
