I'm the founder of Someone Like Me, an IT company that provides support for anyone affected by cancer.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Purpledecks?

We needed Purpledecks to build and launch the Someone Like Me mobile app for iOS and Android. We wanted to create a safe cancer community platform where people affected by cancer could connect with others with shared experiences.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Purpledecks has handled the end-to-end design and development of the Someone Like Me mobile app for iOS and Android. The scope has included UX/UI design, mobile app development, backend development and integration, user profiles, member discovery and connections, the Wave feature, private messaging, Shared Stories, the resources and support library, podcast integration, notifications, and the supporting admin functionality for managing users and content. They've also handled technical testing, bug fixing, app-store submission, and launch preparation.

What is the team composition?

We've worked with 2–5 teammates from Purpledecks.

How did you come to work with Purpledecks?

We found them through a referral. They had worked on medical tech before, and I saw samples online. After speaking with Brian (Founder), I knew they would deliver high quality.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in March 2026, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We successfully launched Someone Like Me as a live iOS and Android app. The platform is now being piloted at St. Vincent's Private Hospital and St. James's Hospital, with over 100 members already registered. The app has successfully moved from development into real-world use, enabling people affected by cancer to connect, share experiences, communicate privately, and access relevant support resources.

How did Purpledecks perform from a project management standpoint?

Purpledecks' project management has been excellent. We have a weekly touchpoint and project review throughout the development process, which keeps everything on track and ensures clear communication at every stage. We're given clear timelines and milestones, and they consistently meet them. The team is responsive, collaborative, and easy to work with; I always feel that the project is well managed. They're a great team to work with.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I'm impressed by how much the Purpledecks team genuinely cares about the project and its purpose. Since Someone Like Me is a cancer support app handling sensitive personal information, they go above and beyond to ensure GDPR, privacy, and data protection requirements are properly considered and covered. They support me throughout that process and help me navigate areas that I'm not as familiar with. They don't just build the app — they genuinely care about getting it right and making sure it's safe and appropriate for the people who use it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren't any. I can't praise Purpledecks enough. They're supportive, responsive, and professional throughout the project. They consistently meet the timelines we agree on, and they genuinely care about the purpose behind Someone Like Me. I absolutely recommend working with them.
