We wanted to get a better understanding of where our brands were.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We did two workshops with Purple Bunny for two of our brands. They sat down with us and guided the workshops, asking many questions to align the team on important decisions, like our ideal target audience. They had a questionnaire beforehand, and we met with them several times.

Afterward, the final deliverable was the whole brand narrative, including voice, tone, and brand story; everything that our marketing and design team would need to move forward.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The workshops were fantastic. Purple Bunny’s facilitators were skilled; they let our team hash things out but came in at the right times to rephrase, interpret, or analyze what they heard. Moreover, they were great at consolidating everything into insights. The team listened to us and helped get everybody on the same page, which was our most significant gain.

Overall, people inside our company loved their work. We measure other companies’ deliverables against Purple Bunny’s strategy guide.

How did Purple Bunny perform from a project management standpoint?

They always met their deadlines and were communicative. We mainly communicated through email and used Notion and Figma for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their team was their biggest strength. They were super organized; the workshop was well-planned, and they were always prepared. Also, teammates were very empathetic; they were able to ingrain themselves in our team and understand where we were coming from.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Some of the workshop exercises were slightly repetitive. Although it was part of their technique, that was the only thing that came up.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

First, being present and engaged in the workshops is key. Secondly, the workshops are about four hours, so blocking out the rest of the day is helpful.

What challenge were you trying to address with Purple Bunny?

We collaborated with Purple Bunny for our design sprints. They were the pioneer in using this methodology, so we wanted to learn from them and know more about the design sprint process.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I initially did some workshops with Purple Bunny in relation to the design sprints. This was a project where we could create a digital prototype in a compact timeframe, and we worked together on onboarding the design team. We had a few kickoff calls, and the team told us everything we should expect and know about the things we were going to do. 

In the first week of the sprint, we spent some time answering questions back and forth as we aligned both of our teams. On top of that, they conducted an interview with us. The second week was intense — we had six-hour workshops from Monday to Wednesday. 

Meanwhile, the deliverables came after the workshops. Purple Bunny worked nine hours on our digital prototype. Everything was documented by the team. After that, we conducted testing sessions, which lasted for about an hour each. Each user went through the platform and tested everything in a detailed way. 

In terms of the project itself, the effort had a personal meaning for both our agencies. It was a project about cultural diversity for kids; we wanted to know how we could approach content for kids who were culturally diverse. We also wanted to provide anti-bullying resources for them.

A good friend of mine found Purple Bunny. I also knew about them when they first started, and then they grew so much and became well-known in the industry. As a result, I always wanted to have the chance to work with them. When the chance came up, I simply approached them and they said yes.

The partnership started and finished in May 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Doing the digital prototype of our project with Purple Bunny was meaningful for us. It was our first step to pitch the project to international organizations and educational NGOs. As general feedback, the team was responsible and cared about the world we were trying to build. Their members truly cared about their customers; they were sensitive and creative people. Overall, working with their team was inspiring for us. 

How did Purple Bunny perform from a project management standpoint?

The two project managers covered all of our needs and requirements. Everything was done remotely, so it wasn’t easy for us to find the perfect timeframe. Regardless, Purple Bunny was always thoughtful and on time when sending meeting briefs — they never missed a thing. They handled everything with a lot of care and precision. 

Moreover, during our workshops, everyone was super energetic. They worked hard to keep our energy levels and momentum up. The team was skillful and knowledgeable, so they knew exactly what they were doing. We could tell that they had a lot of experience in doing design sprints.

In terms of tools, the design was done in Figma, and we used Miro to collaborate and brainstorm together. To keep track of all the progress we made, we used Notion. We used Zoom for our conferences. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Purple Bunny had a lot of experience in UI/UX design, so the prototype we created with them was mindblowing. Other companies would take so much time to achieve something that would be so beautifully made, clear, and user-oriented. 

Beyond that, I was also pleased that I had performed user testing with them. I learned a lot about their process and how they approached testing. We had amazing results, and they had amazing inputs. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there weren’t any. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Try Purple Bunny’s design process. They have an original design sprint idea that they base on their experience. The team has their own design workshop, and they have a lot of experience running it. In other words, they do their design sprints for a reason; they’ve studied the market. As a result, you should try their design sprint process.

What challenges were you trying to address with Purple Bunny?

We’ve been working with Purple Bunny for several years on development projects. The last project on which we worked together was the development of a product for the food industry. The product had to be approved by the FDA, and it had to complý with numerous requirements and regulations, so we brought Purple Bunny again to help us out.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Purple Bunny provides us with web and mobile app development services when needed, mostly for projects that require very specific skill sets.

Our last project, the food industry product, was divided into three phases. The first one was the discovery phase, in which we received the requirements from our client and brought Purple Bunny to detail the specifications. This process implied numerous interviews and research related to the FDA regulations. The deliverable for this phase was a document detailing the research we had performed and the scope of the project.

In the second phase, we worked on the product’s design. Purple Bunny helped us create a user flow that described the user journey. Then, we created the wireframes, which included all the information about the content of each of the screens.

Finally, the third phase consists of creating a functional prototype using those wireframes so that the client can access a mock-up of their product. This phase is still in process. Purple Bunny has created all the deliverables using Figma and Lucidchart.

Currently, we work directly with two people from Purple Bunny: a project manager and a design leader. Still, a support team is involved, so we’ve worked with about 5 people in total.

We started working together in 2018. Our last project started in June 2021, and it is ongoing.

As the project is still in progress, we don’t have any metrics or feedback yet. Overall, the quality of Purple Bunny’s work is very high.

How did Purple Bunny perform from a project management standpoint?

Purple Bunny’s project management is one of their greatest strengths; they’ve always exceeded our expectations in that regard. Their communication is also great. Whenever we have a meeting, they do a detailed follow-up that includes a brief and a recording of the meeting, which makes the project traceable. We use Notion, Zoom, and Slack to communicate and manage the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The clarity and solidity of Purple Bunny’s workflow and processes are bulletproof. We’re always certain that they’ll never miss a deadline, the deliverables will be good, and their communication will be consistent.

Honestly, I can’t think of anything they could improve on.

I am a Product Manager and lead UI/UX director at a small IT consultancy in Chicago specializing in capital markets and other complicated software development opportunities.

We hired Purple Bunny for UI/UX design services for a "green" energy certificate trading application built around an EU Guaranteed Origin (GO) contract protocol for a client headquartered in the Netherlands.

How did you select Purple Bunny?

We have been working with Purple Bunny since 2015. Originally we came across their services while searching for near-shore partners for a project at that time. We have worked with them on dozens of projects since then.

We worked with a client-side Product Director who gathered initial research and feedback from would-be users and he helped translate into English the wants and needs they communicated. Our team pieced together the data objects (Trades) and workflows (various trading scenarios) first in card format (Miro) then in wireframes and visual designs (figma).

All flows and clickable designs were then tested with would-be users in order to continue the iteration of feedback and improvements until designs were deemed acceptable by the Users, Client and ready for engineering. Engineering also gave feedback on design sprints in order to formulate specifications for requirements which we helped itemize for them.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The entire product was designed to the end-client's custom specifications and based on all user input until there was nothing left to design.

All designs were used in production as the project went into Engineering and the live product was launched a few months after we were done designing it (design is often completed before the engineered product).

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Excellent workflow for all teams involved, across at least 4 timezones and three continents. Multiple meetings per week varying from stand-ups of the Overall Project, design sprints or engineering sprints helped to keep everyone on task and all questions answered.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Purple Bunny always provides professional work and never get tired of designing what some would conclude to be boring or complicated financial software - they always do it with a smile and make it look really good.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No real room for improvement. Purple Bunny ran a pro team and was able to handle numerous project challenges. Like holidays, sick leave and other hurdles during long projects to keep things moving. Possible improvements involve software issues not team issues.

To start they help us conducting a Voice of the Customer research not only with our clients but identifying also what the client's of our competitors were saying about them. Then we did an internal workshop to help us align the team and define a new brand story, defining who was our audience, what was their problems, how we can help them solve it, etc. After that we started working in our one-liner, values and new branding. We started iterating until we were happy with the results. And finally we did a social media strategy workshop to define how we wanted to reflect the brand story and new branding and a content strategy.

We finally launched our new branding a few weeks ago. When we presented it internally people loved the change, and we had really good feedback when we launched publicly from clients and the community.

How did you select this vendor?

They're a design agency that offer similar services and upon who we rely on when our pipeline becomes more than we can handle internally. They're top-notch and we know that any project they take on will be just as successful as any project we handle internally.

We'd carried out a previous design sprint with the same client, where we focused on emergency services. We collaborated in that project and the client was so happy that they requested a second design sprint from another service that they offered - a digital platform to schedule appointments, have video appointments, access medical histories, and write digital prescriptions.

They provided a standard 2-week Design Sprint process, in person, as this was before the pandemic hit.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Design Sprints can be intense. However, the PB team not only coordinated everything perfectly and set up and ideal workspace for everyone to feel comfortable, but they also facilitated the actual design sprint week flawlessly.

The results were that the assumptions the client's team had were incorrect and thanks to the sprint they were able to redirect their service in a way that worked for both doctors and patients. Given that the pandemic hit right after, I think the impact of the work PB did was two-fold: business-wise they were able to offer a better service and also feel better prepared for the 2-year pandemic that came right after.

Honestly, it was effortless. It's always a pleasure to work with people that enjoy what they do and do it so well.
