I’m the chief scientist of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), a nonprofit organization that conducts scientific research and experiential programs to explore consciousness, interconnectedness, and human potential. We integrate science with wisdom traditions to enhance human experience.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What specific goals or objectives did you hire Puretech Innovations to accomplish for your organization?

I needed a programmer to understand my design for a complex website that would run an online experiment as part of our research, and then implement that design.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Puretech Innovations developed a website and mobile versions that simulated a simple adventure game with animations and beautiful backgrounds. However, it was actually a front-end for an experiment that tested an interpretation of quantum mechanics. The team also developed an admin dashboard where most of the features of the experiment could be revised by the experimenter (images, sounds, data). The dashboard allowed data to be uploaded and downloaded from the site and integrated with SurveyMonkey, which collected data from the study participants.

We found Puretech Innovations through a referral. We chose them over other options because they had high ratings.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from May 2025 to May 2026.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website works as designed. The original design was revised and extended during development as new features were imagined and added. Despite the growing complexity, it all came together beautifully in a clean UI that the investigators have full control over.To date, about 300 users have contributed qualified data, meaning they completed the experimental sessions according to a defined set of criteria. Together, they ran about 1,400 sessions on the site, which was more than required. They’re still using the site, so data are continuing to be collected. Some users spontaneously offered feedback about the nice aesthetics, look, and feel, all of which are important for recruiting and sustaining participants in online experiments.

How did Puretech Innovations perform from a project management standpoint?

Puretech Innovations delivered on time. We communicated via email and messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It was easy to use email and messaging apps, which was important because this was just one of many projects under development. Working asynchronously was an important feature.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing obvious came to mind.
