Our company handles the clean up after a disaster like fire and floods. I am the COO of the franchisor company and president of a local franchise as well.

We are trying to build a program that can be used to track all jobs, over multiple franchises. Including time management, equipment management, and profitably.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Programmatis was so easy to talk. In our original conversation with them we knew they were the right team. The asked the right questions, and answer our questions in terms we understood.

The project will have multiple layers. From the franchisor portion where we can help track, provide support, and add new locations, to the franchise portion where they will be able to enter jobs, track time, equipment, etc. And finally for the technicians in the filed where they wi be able to track their time, turn in time sheets, add notes to jobs, and manage the equipment on jobs in real time from their phones.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We finally have a place to start. This has been a huge battle for us for years and with Kyle from Programmatis help we were able to get what I had in my head in to a framework that can now go to development easily. Without cost revisions down the road. Kyle kept me focused and helped me understand every step of the process

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Amazing, they were great at working with me, even as I would change things from week to week. He kept us on track and help even start to anticipate our needs.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The down to earth approach they have. The keep it simple yet very informative. I looked forward to our meetings like I would a phone call from a friend not a call I had to make each week.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No Kyle and his team are amazing I would highly recommend them to anyone!!!!

Programmatis built a website for us from scratch. Key technologies used were JavaScript, PHP, and Google Maps API. The site is similar to other discovery platforms like Yelp; it helps users find facilities in a specific location or by a certain name.

What is the team composition?

We worked directly with Kyle (Account Manager).

How did you come to work with Programmatis?

We found them through a freelance marketplace. We decided to work with them because they were based in the US and had previous experience in doing a similar project.

We spent $20,000.

We worked together on this project from August–October 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The entire board of directors was extremely pleased with the look and feel of the website. We don’t have any specific metrics to share yet because the site was just launched recently.

How did Programmatis perform from a project management standpoint?

They met all deadlines and stayed within budget. For communication, we used Google Meet and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed with Kyle — he presented himself in a very professional manner, understood the needs of the project, and kept everything on track to avoid any delays. He also did an excellent job at communicating the strengths and weaknesses of their team.

I can’t think of anything that Programmatis could’ve improved on.

I am the Co-founder of Engayge which is a social networking webapp for the Queer community. The two major functions at its MVP phase are Friend-Finding and through our proprietary algorithm, a Queer Yelp.

We wanted Prog to develop a PWA that made it easy for the LGBTQ+ community to find like-minded individuals within their area or when traveling. Furthermore, we wanted Prog to incorporate our proprietary algorithm into the review/rating system they developed, where we as a community could create a fluid-like database of queer friendly businesses, service providers, organizations, and events.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched thoroughly for months on several different search engines as well as using Google to find the 30 best developers in the US and always interviewed with the ones that were Clutch certified.

In the end however, speaking with Programmatis on several occasions, getting a feel for who they were as people, as developers, and how they were going to consider us as clients, it became very clear, that they were the company we were ultimately going to go forward with. We knew we were making the right decision, and after receiving the final product...we were only proved correct.

We started off with a consulting phase where Programmatis put together the wire frames and the SRS document. Once they completed that, we began on the MVP development phase using the SRS they put together. At the end of the MVP development, they delivered a fully functioning MVP version of the webapp. They used sand box development which allowed us to see the progress along the way and provide feedback as needed.

We worked with just about every member of their team at one point or another. We started off working with a project manager when gathering the initial info for the SRS and blueprints. Once we entered the development phase, we worked mainly with Joe, the owner of Programmatis, however he brought the developers and UI/UX designers on the weekly update calls as well.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We essentially started the developing process in mid-February and had a successful (soft) Launch in June in time for Pride month. Because we were adamant that we wanted to be live by this time-frame it took a full on effort by the whole Prog team to ensure they delivered something, that we felt comfortable presenting to our users. We were very impressed with the expediency they demonstrated and continue to demonstrate through the entire project.

The project manager always had a great line of communication with us. If times needed to be rescheduled on either end, it was very easy to come up with a better time that met both our needs. If we needed changes to the device or had questions that weren't clear to us, they were very accommodating with getting back to us with proper feedback that was easy to understand.

Again, they've completed everything on time and continually will make necessary changes to the app making it more accessible for our current users.

Their professionalism was bar none. They were extremely easy to work with and always answered all our questions without making us feel inept. When they gave a time-frame on when specific things were to be done, they were.

The short time frame in which they went from starting the project to delivering a QUALITY MVP, was beyond impressive. This was a feat that many other developing teams would not have been capable of.

We don't have anything that we feel they could have done better.

I mostly dealt with Joseph. There were a few team members that we worked with as well. Mostly his family. Its a family business and these guys are sharp!

What we got was a app that I can help designers price projects in 10 minutes with little to no training. It used to take me 5-6 months. to train them to do this. Now its streamlined so I'm able to scale our design / sales teams.

They always got back to us quickly with questions. They always set job scope and progress and we actively worked thru our list as things came up.

They are quick. They understood our language and what our goal was. I didnt know how to get to the goal. I just knew that we had one. They did everything in the middle. I had a problem. They solved it!

I was happy with everything all the way thru. I continue to work with them on new ideas and they always provide amazing support.

I'm the owner of a wholesale nursery that grows top quality interior foliage plants.

For what projects/services did your company hire Programmatis, and what were your goals?

We hired Programmatis to build a state of the art web app in order to provide our customers with a better online experience when interacting with Farm Life Nursery, and to increase our visibility to potential customers through web searches. The web app needed to showcase our plants, provide for online order placement and provide access to resource articles that we produce. The inventory update and ordering system needed to work with existing systems and operating procedures that we already had in place.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We found Programmatis through Freelancer.com. At the time, without any real knowledge of what it takes to build a web app like I had in mind, I found Joe at Programmatis to be easy to talk to, able to explained the process well, and he seemed qualified and confident enough to handle the build. I had the impression that I could trust him.

To start, we exchanged drawings and project specifications. I had drawn up a detailed description of how I though the site should operate. The next 6 months were spent refining the requirements, exchanging drawings, determining the flow through the various parts of the site and reviewing mockups of some pages in order to agree on the general look and feel of the web site. The next 6 months were spent implementing the more advanced and industry specific parts of the site, like processing orders, and inventory management.

We have 2 different other software programs that interact with the site. Our inventory software uploads an XML file to the website that automatically updates the web store inventory. Also the site produces an XML file that describes each order so that it can be dropped into our internal order processing system. We exchanged detailed flow charts and sometimes pseudocode to communicate the processes. All of this was done via internet chat apps and internet based meeting apps that allowed for screen sharing, file exchange and real time discussions.

After launch, we have added features, fixed bugs, changed minor behavior and focused on SEO. The only technologies used, that I'm aware of, is PHP and XML.

In the beginning I worked with Joe, the owner, exclusively. I was aware that a few other people worked on the project, but I had no direct interaction with them. Today, I still only hold meetings with Joe, but others in the company handle scheduling update meetings, billing and most likely development.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have a limited potential customer base since we sell wholesale only foliage and our industry has essentially relied on FAX and more recently email to communicate about orders. That said, our system has 1,574 users, 1001 of those are new customers since the site's launch. The total dollar amount of orders placed through the system is just under $1,000,000 with half of that placed by new customers.

In an industry that is as hands on as selling and shipping live plants with limited availability, the amount of customers that are comfortable placing orders through the web site is a testament to the exceptional design of the system. In addition, the site emails weekly customer performance data summaries to our sales staff as well as displaying real time charts of similar information in our admin portal.

Communication is mainly through chat or web meeting software. During the development phase real time meeting were held often where we could screen share and exchange files. Communication was easy with Programmatis, and I never once felt like development had stopped or that I could not discuss the current state of things. Specifically we used Google Chat, Google Meet, Google Drive, and email.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The most impressive thing about working with Joe and his company, aside from their skill and technical expertise, is that they made it easy to be involved and informed at every step from project initiation to today. I wanted to be involved in some of the more technical details, and Joe had no problems discussing anything with me.

His company has always been solicitous and eager to hear any feedback, suggestions or problems. They seem genuinely concerned that our web site performs the best that it can. After 3 years I feel like the money our company has spent with Programmatis has been spent well.

I don't have any complaints.
