We needed help visualizing our warehouses and generating analytics for supply chain optimization.

What were your goals for this project?

Integration of the RFID/IoT sensor data with our Warehouse Management System, development of reports and analytical dashboards.

How did you select this vendor?

The selection was done jointly by IT and Supply Chain teams. We received proposals from 4 consulting companies and chose Prime TSR because they appealed both to the technical and business folks on our team.

Prime TSR provided end-to-end technical solution development and change management for the project. Our IT team provided documentation regarding our technical standards and the supply chain team provided business requirements.

What was the team composition?

Their team size varied in different phases of the project, from 2 to 8 people. They had a project leader, cloud architect, developers and analysts.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were able to improve our supply chain decision making and reduced inventory held in the warehouse by 7%.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They used Agile process to manage the project, with stories in Jira and using MS Teams to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were extremely easy to work with and great technically. At all points, I felt that they had my back.

We wanted to improve our reporting and analytics solution by integrating new data sources while reducing the time required to process the data.

What were your goals for this project?

Integrate 3 new data sources, reduce the time required to process the data from 18 to 3 hours, and reduce the operating cost to support the solution.

Prime TSR used an Agile approach with 2 week development sprints. They started with a 2 day workshop, followed by an assessment. After the assessment Prime TSR created a detailed estimate and solution design. We launched the solution in waves, starting small and releasing new functionality every 2 weeks.

What was the team composition?

From our side the team was staffed with SMEs and IT architects who were contributing part-time. Prime TSR team had an engagement manager, an architect, several engineers and a QA analyst.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Following the complete solution roll out we saw a reduction in data processing time from 18 to 1.5 hours and the operating cost reduction by 30%.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The agile approach worked very well. Both teams had daily stand up calls making the communication very easy. Prime TSR also provided us with progress dashboard, giving us a real-time view into what the team was working on and what was left in the backlog.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their technical expertise and knowledge set them apart. Their willingness to go an extra step beyond what's in the contract.

Are there any areas for improvement?

The project did run longer than initially estimated due to some new requirements that were uncovered during the project. Prime TSR did a good job communicating the increases, but it would have been great to have some contingency up front.

What challenge were you trying to address with Prime TSR?

We needed to do a digital transformation to a head operational process to improve the employee experience.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The team at Prime TSR was responsible for design and implementation. The solution was cloud-based, and most of the technology stack was through Microsoft Azure. Their team augmented with ours. Most of their value went to the infrastructure.

What is the team composition?

The team had a few cloud architects and three software engineers.

How did you come to work with Prime TSR?

They were referred by a company I used to work with.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Prime TSR from April–September 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The team at Prime TSR brought the expertise and knowledge we needed for a cloud platform on the architecture side. They delivered quality work on time, and I’d hire them again. They have the ability to integrate with other teams.

How did Prime TSR perform from a project management standpoint?

Their professional team is great to work with and knowledgeable in what they do. They’re fast and straight to the point. Since we’re a bigger organization, they used our tools and worked with agile methodologies.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their responsiveness was extremely impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they were absolutely fine. They met our project expectations, and I’d be glad to work with them again.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Give them a try because they integrate well. They’re a great company that does good work.

What challenge were you trying to address with Prime TSR?

We had an OpenLDAP-based internal authentication that needed to be scaled and modernized so that it could handle multiple authentication clients. We also needed to incorporate an enterprise VPN (virtual private network) solution that we didn’t have.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Prime TSR was responsible for the design, architecture, advisory aspect, and implementation aspects of our VPN solution.  

What is the team composition?

We worked with a project manager, a security architect, and a network architect.

How did you come to work with Prime TSR?

When we were looking for a vendor to help us with this work, we interviewed a few different firms. Another technology company recommended Prime TSR.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our work together spanned October 2016–April 2017.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

My company now has a fully functional VPN that services nearly 100 employees. We have a centralized authentication store that allows us to do self-service, like single sign-on for multiple authentication clients. They definitely helped us set up a solid foundation.

How did Prime TSR perform from a project management standpoint?

Communication was good. Prime TSR delivered the product on time and within the budget we’d originally scoped out. Their project manager was responsible for coordinating Prime TSR resources and making sure that they followed through on everything. We primarily communicated via email and phone, and they came to our office as well.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

They had deep technology expertise that most companies don’t have in-house, and that was helpful. Prime TSR integrated with our team really well, which made for a smooth handoff. This can be difficult when you’re engaging with outside firms.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The final product was definitely successful. My only recommendation would be for them to provide a few more options regarding the path they could take to address the client’s problem. They only proposed 1–2 potential solutions for us, but I think customers would appreciate more than that.

Any advice for potential customers?

I think they’re a really good group of people.

What challenge were you trying to address with Prime TSR?

We were looking to redesign some of our databases, so we needed a vendor to help us. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Prime TSR helped us run our custom-built applications from a technical and integration aspect. They assigned to us a couple of subject-matter experts that were very familiar with databases. Then, they used MySQL technology to stabilize the databases, test them, and integrate them with our business processes. They required minimum oversight, so it was a very smooth process. 

What is the team composition? 

We mostly worked with four members of their team, including a project manager. 

How did you come to work with Prime TSR?

We worked with them previously on other projects, so we reached out to them again. 

What is the status of this engagement? 

We worked with Prime TSR between March 2018–March 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Prime TSR provided a lot of value and gave us useful recommendations. Our custom-built application works as expected with the new database platform. We did performance testing, and we were able to run some critical jobs within our health plan. 

How did Prime TSR perform from a project management standpoint? 

They're very responsive. We had both ad hoc discussions and weekly calls with them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re familiar with the space, so they were able to integrate themselves within the organization. They provided subject-matter expertise and guided the project if they noticed a lack of a process. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing specific. If we did this project again, I'd suggest more upfront planning and getting familiar with some stakeholders. But that is something from a lesson we've learnt. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Explain your processes to them, and they'll use their technical acumen to help you reach your goals. Also, make sure there is an alignment with either a technical analyst or a project manager.

Their team had 4 people - an engagement lead, an AWS architect and 2 AWS engineers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

In our most recent DR exercise we were able to stand up our infrastructure from scratch within 4 hours. Previously it would take at least 2 days.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Prime TSR was following our Agile process and used our internal tools to communicate. The workflow was very efficient.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Prime TSR's team was very knowledgeable about AWS and was willing to help not just with the project but also advised on a number of other initiatives.
