I’m the founder of a mobile, wood-fired pizza company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Pretty Lethal Designs?

We have a brand new business model, so we only had a really short and accelerated timeline to get in front of the public with a logo, a story, and a marketable brand.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had less than a month before our soft opening so we had a lot of phone discussions with Pretty Lethal Designs. We mapped out what was important to us and what we wanted our brand to highlight. 

We started with the color scheme. Pretty Lethal Designs provided different options which they thought would be apt for the functions that we wanted to cater to, like weddings, community gatherings, farmer’s markets, and pop-up events. They then fleshed out three different brand identities and business names for me to choose from. 

Their team proceeded to create the logo once the name and identity were settled. For that, they also came up with different options. It involved a lot of different color combinations and custom lettering. 

What is the team composition?

I worked with the owner who was supported by 2–3 other people.

How did you come to work with Pretty Lethal Designs?

They were recommended to us by a mutual acquaintance. I found out that their agency usually does branding for cannabis brands, but it was important for me to work with a woman-owned company, so I reached out to them. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $6,000 on this specific project. If we include the three additional projects they’re now working on, we’re probably looking at $25,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We first reached out to them in July 2020, and the branding work is complete. They’re now providing the same services for our other business lines. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Pretty Lethal Designs came up with an identity that I never would have thought of. Despite being a new company, we now have a brand that is immediately recognizable to the general public. Their team really helped establish the strong name that we now have behind us. 

I’m completely and totally in love with everything they created. They were very thorough and intentional throughout the entire process.

How did Pretty Lethal Designs perform from a project management standpoint?

They were great. They really kept us on task and sent us reminders, which was necessary for us to meet the set deadlines. The entire project was managed perfectly. We typically communicated over Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a knack for flushing out the important intricacies of our business. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s nothing they could’ve done better. They were gold.

Just trust Pretty Lethal Designs to do their thing.

I'm the founder and CEO of a health & wellness company.

For what projects/services did your company hire Pretty Lethal Designs?

Initially, we hired them to help us do customer development (research on our customers) to figure out how we could improve as a company. From there, we decided to hire them to do the branding, and eventually the creation of a small e-commerce website to support this new brand.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to create a brand that would communicate that the product was effective but also sensitive to the emotional needs of the customer. We also asked for a single-page e-commerce website.

How did you select Pretty Lethal Designs?

We found them on Upwork. They were in the running with 2 other agencies, and we decided to go with them.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

We came in with a creative brief. From that, they created mood boards to decide the theme of the brand, then worked on the wordmark, and then the copy of the brand. After branding, we worked on the visuals of the product, and then the website.

What was the team composition?

They are a small team of two core people. Samantha does most of the work on the branding side and Ian does most of the development side of things. They also have copywriters and other excellent teammates that they contract out for to get things done.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The website is wonderful. Superslick and highly responsive. The branding couldn't have been better. Super happy with the way they do their naming, the mood boards, and copywriting were all excellent.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Seemless. Samatha is very organized with the branding side of things. And Ian kept us up to date with his progress on the development side.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were timely, respectively and very thoughtful. They always went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with everything. They care a TON about you and that is married with doing great work. They are simply the dream team.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Honestly, there isn't much I could pick at here. I loved their process and would work with them again in a heartbeat.
