Pragmint provided two senior developers to augment one of our web development teams tasked with a key project iniatitive. Through pair programming and participation in all team events, they helped upscale the React skills of the team and provided insightful recommendations from within for practical improvements. 

As the former Director of Software Development, my leadership team and I met with Pragmint's senior technical advisor frequently to discuss strategic recommendations gleaned from their observations within the trenches coupled with Pragmint's wealth of experience applying best practices. Pragmint's approach was always professional. 

They worked alongside to understand the real issues facing the team and worked with leadership to strategically address them with pragmatic and tested solutions. The benefits Pragmint brings are farther reaching and longer lasting than the code itself.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Without a doubt, Pragmint stands apart as a company that seeks to understand and then bring common sense solutions that address real needs. They never lead out with a cookie-cutter solution, or suggest a course of action too many steps removed from current state. Their recommendations are timely and insightful, leading to real changes that teams can embrace.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Pragmint could have done differently?

On one occasion, I had to ask Pragmint to slow down a bit on some suggestions because business reasons were making it hard to move in that direction quite so fast. As expected, Pragmint responded with understanding and adjusted with grace and skill to the current situation, shifting their strategy where needed and continuing to add value.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the VP of Engineering for Camp Gladiator, a fitness and wellness company. We provide a platform for personal trainers and nutrition coaches to start their businesses through in-person and online services.

What challenge were you trying to address with Pragmint?

I engaged with Pragmint to augment my staff and utilize their skills to uplift the productivity and deliverables of my team for my re-platforming and product launching tasks.

SOLUTION

What is the scope of their involvement?

Pragmint offers consultancy for processes, engineering coaching, and software development power — we have representatives of Pragmint in each of our teams to help us increase productivity and try to hit our aggressive deadlines.

The product they help us with the most is a communication tool for our trainers, our primary customers. It's a web portal in which users can log in with their credentials to access their customers and message them via text message or in-app communication. Their team used JavaScript, Spring Boot, React, and Firebase as a database for a real-time application.

What is the team composition?

We've worked with three members of their team, including Dave (CEO) and two senior software engineers.

How did you come to work with Pragmint?

I had the privilege to work with Dave eight years ago in a previous engagement. We've always stayed in touch and had a good relationship. I chose them because I knew their quality of work and trusted that working with them could have good quality.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we've spent around $125,000 with them.

What is the status of the engagement?

We started working with them in August 2022, and the partnership is still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Internally, everything we requested, from code quality, deliverables, timeliness, support, and coaching, has been pristine and on time.

How did Pragmint perform from a project management standpoint?

They meet the deadlines we set for them and are also great with communication. We communicate through emails, phone calls, Slack, Zoom, Google Meet, and regular in-person meetings to check in on the project. Moreover, we use JIRA, GitHub, and Notion for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their proficiency is their best attribute; Pragmint's team doesn't need much supervision to get results. We've had other vendors that require a lot of our time to get 70% of the results that we're getting from Pragmint. Overall, Pragmint is helping our team do better compared to other providers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't think there's anything they can improve on — I'm very pleased with how they take the initiative to help us overcome our challenges.

Any advice for potential customers?

Have a good and honest conversation with them before the project starts so they can understand your goals and the outcomes you're trying to achieve. Additionally, paying attention to what they bring to the table could be a great starting point for them to maximize their engagement.
