I’m a platform architect for the B2B e-commerce platform at one of the largest publishing houses in the world.

We use a subscription model, and we hired PowerSync to build a module that would allow us to sell subscriptions to our customers on e-books and our medical products.

PowerSync provides us with e-commerce development. Initially, we provided them with a brief. The team has developed our subscription module using PHP. Currently, they provide us with support services.

We started working together in March 2023, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The engagement has been successful; PowerSync has achieved what we were looking for. The team is very professional, highly skilled, and very articulate. 

How did PowerSync perform from a project management standpoint?

They deliver on time and within the budget. We’ve set up a Slack channel and are constantly in touch with them. Our communication is smooth and fluid. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

PowerSync has great resources.

There’s nothing I’d have them improve.

Go for PowerSync — they’re very good!

During this project I was CEO of an LED Lighting manufacturing/distribution firm.

For what projects/services did your company hire PowerSync, and what were your goals?

We had to move our website and ecommerce engine from Magento 1 to Adobe Commerce Cloud and, importantly, integrate into our existing Salesforce.com and Netsuite systems. Our first goal was to simply survive the transition and also to add some key sales and operational features along the way.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We had worked with PowerSync on a previous project. On that first project our project team was familiar with PS and recommended them. For this new, larger project, I was so impressed with PS from the previous project, I decided to hire them again.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

The key deliverable was a custom quoting process and integration with our existing Salesforce system along with a number of important-to-us customizations with the order entry process. Typical project, PowerSync came in and understood, clarified (and helped design) our requirements. We then collaborated in an agile environment to build out and test the solution and finally went live.

I can't remember exactly. We had around a half dozen people from PowerSync as I recall including the leadership of that firm.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were extremely pleased with the outcome. We were able to enter custom orders which we weren't able to do before.

Great style. They were organized and on top of all our requirements and requests. They shared a ticketing system with us that was useful to both sides in tracking progress and issues.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Definitely their ability to not only meet our requirements, but to talk us through better ways of doing things. I felt like they were always THERE for us, especially in emergencies.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not really. Any challenges on the project were internally focused.

I was the SVP of revenue of an e-commerce medical supply company. I was in charge of marketing, customer services, business development, and sales.

What challenge were you trying to address with PowerSync?

We had a Magento e-commerce platform with no subscription capabilities. We wanted to introduce a subscription payment option, so we had to customize a plug-in to fit our business needs. Since we had a small technology team, we decided to outsource the project.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had several initial meetings with PowerSync. We provided the design marks, and they did the wireframes and documentation. After the initial kickoff, they went off and did the work. They helped us customize our e-commerce website, and we checked the progress as needed.

What is the team composition?

We worked directly with the head of PowerSync; he was always present. Additionally, we had a project manager and a lead developer.

How did you come to work with PowerSync?

I searched extensively and checked in with some colleagues and other businesses. There weren’t a lot of vendors that could customize the plug-in to fit our Magento setup, so PowerSync was the best option by far. After talking and doing a demo with them, it was clear that they could provide substantial help besides the plug-in.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $60,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in March 2021, and they delivered the project in November 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The platform was ready, but we didn’t launch it due to an internal issue. The company decided to migrate to a new ERP system simultaneously, which sucked up all our internal time. We didn’t have time to focus on launching the subscription. Nonetheless, PowerSync delivered everything they’d been asked.

On the other hand, they were easy to work with. They listened to our challenges and came up with creative solutions. The team was fast, professional, thorough, and efficient. Moreover, they had the expertise to help us regardless of the task. We don’t hesitate to recommend them to others; we’d work with them again if given the opportunity.

How did PowerSync perform from a project management standpoint?

They were excellent. We used Slack and Asana as management tools, and they had solid project managers who made sure that communication flowed both ways. Also, they ensured that we understood the dependencies, risks, and delays. We had no surprises; it was pretty much everything we’d hoped for.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They had experience in every area of e-commerce, so they could help us regardless of what challenge we threw their way. Whenever we gave them a task, they’d come back in 1–2 days with a functional solution. We had significant challenges, and it didn’t seem to phase them at all.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they were a great partner. If anything, we let them down by not launching what they built.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Let them do what they’re good at and trust them as partners. If we’d micromanaged everything they did, we wouldn’t have gotten the best out of them. They’re more than a technology shop; they understand e-commerce, UX, and funnels. We leveraged their knowledge, and it was reflected in the finished product.
