I am a Marketing & PR Intern at UGroupMedia, the parent company for Portable North Pole, the #1 Santa App in the world. I primarily worked closely with the management and creative control of our social media accounts, as well as the reach out towards celebrities, media and influencers.

For what projects/services did your company hire PoliLingua?

PoliLingua was mainly called upon for different translation requests from all our departments (Emailing, Survey, Social Media, etc.) as the Christmas season drew closer. We needed them to translate in French and eventually, Italian as well. Our goal was to ensure accurate and speedy translations, given the tight deadlines and high demand for translations.

How did you select PoliLingua?

We found the company through some internet researching, and having seen past works done and seeing great reviews, we decided to give it a shot. This was our first time hiring an agency such as this one, since previously we had worked with freelancers.

Describe the project in detail and what their cost structure looked like.

Essentially, I would send them multiple excel spreadsheet a week in English, to which they had to add the French and Italian translations to the other columns.

We were charged for the translation per word, and the word count was always given on the excel sheet. Everyone on the company had to go through PoliLingua at some point, since during the Christmas rush, we get high demands of texts needing translations from all our departments.

How would you describe/assess the quality of their work?

The Italian translations were sublime. The quality was impressive and the translator was attentive to the smallest details, such as making sure that in the translation, the link to the website was the Italian one and not the English one. We always got a perfect estimation of when it would finish and were often surprised by the quickness of it.

On the other hand, the French translations were a little below our expectations. We switched translations midway through due to less than satisfactory performance, and due to the fact that the French translator had tampered with the original text, causing other translations to lose their sense as well. They would also claim work was done, but then hand back an empty sheet.

The second translator was much better than the first, but still was not as impressive as the Italian translator. In terms of security, I trust the PoliLingua did a wonderful job.

What impressed you about their services?

I sincerely appreciated Galina's patience and willingness to speak with us when we were having issues with the French translator. She had taken the time to show up to a meeting and discuss with us future solutions in order to make sure these issues would not occur again. PoliLingua showed impressive services and was always quick to respond to my emails.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I would simply suggest recognizing right away when a translator is not doing a great job before waiting on the company to realize it on their own. I had to push a little but to have the French improve, but I wish this was taken care of on PoliLingua's side quicker and without me having to push it.

We needed an internal employee engagement program. We wanted an e-learning tool that would be rolled out and it needed translation.

They worked with translation, editing, and proofreading. They did this for many different languages. The work was done in a very specific format that had to be embedded in the program.

The tool has been brought to launch. We are having it sent to global launch, although they’re still getting things checked by our internal team. They’re very good. The responsiveness and accuracy were great.

It’s been very fast and easy. They are communicative and keep deadlines.

I’m the managing director of the Bulgarian daughter company of a large organization that focuses on media acquisitions.

What challenge were you trying to address with PoliLingua?

We needed translation services for our creative materials.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They delivered and proofread the translations. So, after a translator finished their work, another specialist would QA the work for errors and authenticate it. They were also helpful in localizing some of our content. For instance, we may ask them to provide us with a typical Swedish name for our Swedish materials. The final deliverables were translated into European Spanish, Latin American Spanish, German, Italian, Swedish, and Dutch. We use their services about four times each week.  

What is the team composition?

We had one main point of contact who served as an account manager. I didn’t speak with the translators themselves, through.

How did you come to work with PoliLingua?

I searched for the best translation companies on Google and contacted pretty much all the companies on the first page. Their rates were reasonable compared to others, and the team turned projects around very quickly. I stuck with them because of their translation quality and responsiveness to our messages. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $3,000 on their services so far. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2020. Our teams are still collaborating, and our need fluctuates with them each month at this point.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The work is delivered quickly, and the team responds to us in a timely manner whenever we have questions. The quality of the translations is strong as well, so we’re very satisfied and happy to continue our partnership. The materials they’ve delivered are performing well in the market. 

How did PoliLingua perform from a project management standpoint?

All of our work was done via email. We would send them the written material to be translated, and they would return with what we requested. They even offer a rush order service that allows us to get projects done on a faster timeline if needed. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They answer our questions quickly, even during non-business hours. It’s really nice to have that level of support. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Sometimes I’m concerned that some of their translators may not be native speakers of the language. They’ve assured me that they are, but it may be nice to have something that would verify that. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Give specific instructions about how you want things done within your email requests. That way, you’ll get things back faster with no mistakes.

In May I've applied at Polilingua for the CV translation. I wanted them to translate my CV from russian to English. I've paid money and all that I got in the final result was Google translation of my CV. I could do it myself without paying to anyone.

The service provider responded on July 19, 2023. 

1. Client is claiming that the translation provided by us is made using Google Translate, thus a machine translation and not human translation. This is something that is very easy to check. In order to prove this, we translated now the CV using Google, and compared it to the file we delivered to the client in May. The difference is obvious. I can provide a document with Tracked Changes for review.

2. Client never got back to us informing that he wasn't happy with the quality of the translation delivered. We always encourage our customers to reach out to us in case of any queries, as we have a dedicated support team ready to assist with any concerns you may have had during the translation process. Our aim is to ensure that the client is always happy with the service delivered. We leave no message, request without a response.
