I'm a Ph.D. student in a Physics Research Institution, we are developing a chemosensor for single barium ions with applications in particle physics and cosmology.

Our sensor is a very attractive project because of the advances it would lead to in rare events searches in particle physics (neutrinoless double beta decay) and because of its multidisciplinary nature. We wanted to promote the project and we asked Pix Videos to produce a video explaining the motivation and working principle of the sensor.

We started with a discovery meeting. They worked with us to understand the sensor before helping us create a script and storyboard. In the end, they delivered a 5-minute animated video that explained how the motivation and working principle of the sensor.

We worked with the CEO who outlined the project and kept us on schedule. After several versions of the video, we exchanged comments and feedback, and he'd communicate it to the animators. They shared their work through Dropbox.

We have used the video on the website of the NEXT collaboration. Some clips and frames of the video were used in different talks and conferences. Overall, the video helped promote the project and, as a result, the collaboration was awarded a very prestigious research grant.

The CEO was easy to communicate with and provided feedback and frequent updates. He also coordinated the work and requirements with the animators. If they needed to change something, they told us ahead of time so that we could discuss it. We mostly spoke over video chat and email since their team was remote.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They took the time to learn about our product, even though they hadn't worked with a project from neutrino physics before. They were able to suggest new ideas to make the concepts intuitive and easy to understand.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I wish I would have met more people on their team, to make sure more people involved in the production understood the ideas behind the sensor.

We compared different video producers in Spain, taking intro account their price and the quality of their work and we saw Pix Video's could be the best provider, so we decided to try with them.

We started with a first call to explain them our business model and what we wanted from that video, they explained to us the way the work and the steps of the video production. After that, I gave them the idea of the video and they gave me feedback on it and some questions. They worked on it and checked with me if the idea was alright. After some time, the sent me the fist version, I gave them some changes. Finally we for the final version.

We were in contact with the project manager by email and by phone, and the feedback process was as scheduled in the timing. We could reach them anytime throug these two channels.

We have created two videos that helped our own team to understand better our process and technology and our team now uses them to answer these usual question of the clients.

As said, it was very easy to talk to them, by email or phone. We had to change some of the ideas we had for one of the videos and they just gave us a solution, there wasn't any problem. It is easy to talk to them.

That they provide a quality product, in the time agreed, they care about their clients and, the most outstanding, is that they understood from the very beginning what I wanted from the video and created an animated video better than what I imagined.

I was very happy with the way things were done.

One principal investigator of CiMUS had good opinions about this company so we contacted them to see if the budget was competitive to produce a nice video.

We met several times throughout the process and they organized the work using a gantt chart so we always knew what and when to expect each part of the video production.

The scientific work is still in the peer-review process so the video is still not public but it will be out in the web very soon.

They found out a successful way to explain difficult genetic concepts such as the genome of a different species inside the cancer cell.

We were searching for video production companies. We asked for several offers and looked for the reviews. Pix videos had really good reviews and gave us the best offer.
