I’m the chief architect at a real estate company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Pi Tech?

We had created a set of APIs to integrate with title management software, and we needed help with its IoT development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Pi Tech provided IoT development. They came in when we already had the APIs done, and we leveraged them to review the design and ensure we were following best practices so they could help move us in the right direction. Consequently, their team studied the platform's architecture and services to make recommendations to adhere to the best practices and ensure the APIs were scalable. After that, they implemented those changes to ensure the viability of our API in the future.

Regarding features, the software allows for creating orders and sending or updating order fulfillment back into the title management software, which is what the API does, along with status updates to keep the actual end user and update it on the orders in our system. Moreover, Pi Tech's team helped us ensure we followed best practices for valid security and metrics.

In terms of technologies, they used AWS with application gateways, Lambda services, and Python.

I only worked with one person from Pi Tech's team.

How did you come to work with Pi Tech?

I worked with Pi Tech's founder on previous projects and kept in touch periodically, so I naturally reached out to him for this project.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $10,000–$15,000 with them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from December 2022–February 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Pi Tech successfully handled two development sprints.

How did Pi Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

We managed the project, but Pi Tech's embedded team was focused on solving the tickets and project items. Regarding communication, we used Jira and had daily stand-up meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Working with Pi Tech was very easy, and they streamlined and managed their engineering time to avoid a large bill.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I didn't think there was anything they could improve on — I was pleasantly surprised with their delivery.

We didn’t have an internal team to build software, so we needed a partner to help us with architectural decisions and development resources.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started the partnership with simple web and custom software development projects and completed our first project in two months. We’ve since been doing bigger projects, and we’re making progress on each one.

They’re all crypto-related platforms since we’re in the crypto business, and one of them is a website that pulls real-time financial data from other blockchain currencies.

This is a very unique project as every aspect of it is customized but so far, they’ve delivered on time and on budget.

We’ve created and implemented a testing strategy and they’ve been really consistent and responsive in resolving our issues 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’re impressed with their ability to exceed our expectations and go beyond the scope of the project. In addition, they’re very flexible and highly capable of delivering quality work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’d love it if they could hire more people.

I would advise you to just lead them throughout the process.

I’m the CEO and president of Jives Media, a marketing agency based in San Francisco, California.

What challenge were you trying to address with Pi Tech?

We needed a custom-built software system for our agency that we could use with our clients. We specifically wanted this software to help us share with them the marketing performance and digital marketing efficacy.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Pi Tech has helped us develop the software system we needed from scratch. Initially, we shared with them our complex needs, and they built out a roadmap divided into milestones, proposing how they would tackle the project. Then, they followed that plan.

The core features of this system revolve around managing and leveraging the data from different marketing and SEO platforms, like Google Ads and Facebook Ads, so that we can share them in real time with our clients through a dashboard. Another part of the system revolves around data security because we wanted to ensure that our data was safe.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with around 3–5 people from Pi Tech, including their president, their VP of engineering, and a project manager.

How did you come to work with Pi Tech?

We found them online and decided to hire them after interviewing 5–6 other development companies. We thought that they had the most qualified skill sets for our specific project, and they offered a very personalized approach.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $20,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2022, and our relationship is ongoing, although most of the software system has already been developed.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Although we’re still in the early stages of launching our software, it has saved us around 60% of the time we used to spend on reporting, achieving excellent efficiency. Moreover, data security is very important for us, and we’ve felt very safe working with Pi Tech and how they’ve handled our data.

How did Pi Tech perform from a project management standpoint?

Working with Pi Tech has been an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish; they’ve met all the deadlines and milestones. We’ve used different technologies throughout the project, such as a video conferencing platform for our meetings, Asana for task management, email and Slack for communication, and other technologies for project management to ensure everything stays on track.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Pi Tech’s strength is their expertise. They’re a boutique firm, so we’ve worked closely with really smart people. Working with true experts in their field has resulted in a high-quality product and experience.
