Our startup creates systems enabling the monitoring of extensive areas and infrastructure components from anywhere. I’m a CEO and co-founder of the company.

We hired Overlap Studio to make the initial idea written as a raw functional concept — to make it tangible: provide cohesive design for every screen of the web app, make it well-structured and intuitive for future users.

What were your goals for this project?

Our initial goal was to provide proof of concept for the investors. Once we managed to do that we moved further in developing the platform.

Overlap Studio was recommended to us by someone who had previously worked with them on a SaaS project.

We developed platform for power grid administrators to help them make knowledge-based decisions on greenery management in safety buffers under power grids. Large areas are difficult to monitor, while trees too close to the lines cause damages and power outages. Our app provides clients with notifications and alerts, based on satellite data analysis.

What was the team composition?

The team consisted of a Senior UX Designer, UX Design Specialist and 2 UI Designers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Sure, so the biggest win was that we provided great proof of concept and as a result, we managed to secure financing for the project. Job done!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They were very responsive. I liked that. Even though we were cooperating only online, it felt as if they had been working very close to us, coming up with fresh ideas on a daily basis. They worked fast and listened to our feedback

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The UI designs they came up with were great! But what’s most important not only did they make them look nice. Each of their design decision expressed on the screen was clearly backed up by the UX expertise.

I'm the co-founder of Piqant, a specialty coffee e-commerce website connecting coffee lovers with independent roasters.

We had just started the company when we reached out to them. We needed UI/UX design for the whole website.

How did you select Overlap Studio?

We searched online, had several meetings with about a dozen agencies, read their websites, read their blogs, read their reviews, looked at their Dribbble, Behance, Instagram and Twitter profiles, ran their proposals through the whole team and external advisors. They were the clear winners.

During lockdown we wanted to keep enjoying barista-quality coffee at home, couldn't find an app with an end-to-end experience that matched our expectations. We have an in-house software development team but needed a design team to match, hence, we reached out to Overlap.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We haven't launched yet but so far, we've been able to attract talent based solely on the attention to detail of the branding and design.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We used Slack and Figma for communicating. The collaboration felt very smooth.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The fact that they were able to take our vague brainstorm sessions and turn them into a tangible design. They would challenge our assumptions, test them on users, and back their opinions with data. They went above and beyond to match our requests and wouldn't hesitate to provide us with different alternatives when necessary.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We were between one or two weeks behind schedule due to user testing, but it did result in a better quality product.

The main task was to create a website with a meal planner for the whole family, creating an automatic shopping list. Meals are recommended based on previous choices and defined user preferences.

We worked with the overlap studio in weekly sprints and the progress was available online, so we could see the progress on a regular basis. Once every two weeks we received a summary report

Great contact. Many of the tasks they did for us went far beyond their scope of work for which we agreed

Are there any areas for improvement?

Overlap studio is a good, reliable and skilled team, but not that numerous.

We ran three corporate accelerator/incubator programmes in 2019. Overlap helped bring the projects to life - 10 in total.

What were your goals for this project?

The prototypes they created were used as part of a pitch to the senior management of 3 tier one companies, helping to raise over €2m of funding for intrapreneurial projects.

How did you select this vendor?

We searched Dribbble, a competitive online community of some of the best UI/UX designers on the planet. Overlap's work stood out.

Describe the project in detail.

The project was managed entirely virtually. We had a series of meetings with Overlap to outline the intended workflow and specification of projects. We asked the internal corporate teams to build wireframes which were often ambiguous, then passed to Overlap to interpret. This required a great deal of flexibility and creativity on Overlap's part.

What was the team composition?

We (Dogpatch team) dealt with Emil and the entire crew at Overlap which aided the speed of the projects. The entire team was patient, polite and talented.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Out of 15 internal corporates, 9 received follow on fundng and were approved to proceed. Allowing senior leadership to visualise the end result was definitely a major contributing factor to their decision to proceed.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

I found Overflow cool under pressure and on the whole fantastic to deal with. The workflow was often ambiguous and the outputs they received often difficult to interpret. The team were patient and their talent won the day.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their capacity to interpret wireframes and transform them into beautiful results.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not really. I'd be nit-picking.

The goal was to build a clickable prototype ready to approach potential investors.

I met Magda and Emil in a previous job. I always liked how they approach their work with passion and as a result, they were always coming up with a high-quality outcome.

Overlap conducted the whole process: from user research, idea validation, through strategy, building the logic of the app including information architecture, user flows, lo-fi mockups, hi-fi mockups, design to a clickable prototype.

It was me and two UX Designers and a UI Designer from Overlap Studio.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The clickable prototype they delivered allowed me to clearly demonstrate the idea to potential investors. I gathered very positive feedback about it.

We were working closely on a regular basis. The vision I shared has been validated and put together to the prototype in a timely manner.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They caught my vision very quickly and managed to substantiate my idea in the form of a beautiful prototype. Apart from that, they are simply nice folks to work with.

We hired Overlap Studio to plan, design and code HTML screens for our flagship product: PBC Service. The core idea of the product is to provide high-quality essential information searched by managers, bank officers, insurance marketers etc.

The big goal for this project was to build a solution that would provide all the functionalities necessary and at the same time to stay intuitive from both user and administrator standpoint.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project is currently at its final stages of backend development. It all comes together very nicely and we are looking forward to seeing it live and used by the actual users

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Even though due to different circumstances the project was spread in time quite heavily, UX Designers were always happy to pick up where we left off, offering their help on all the stages.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most noticeable aspect was their resilience to challenges especially when the project needed to shift.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I guess it would be helpful if the overall process had been managed a bit more tightly. Other than that the cooperation was a pleasure.

We had decided to resign our blog, and we wanted a third party to assess our mockup’s usability. We needed a team to examine our content organization, navigation system, homepage structure, information architecture, and interaction with our users.

Using Overlap Studio’s comment, we refinished our mockup and rebuilt our blog. We’ve since seen a significant increase in unique users and page views.

Overlap Studio managed a rapid turnaround of materials. They delivered valuable feedback in just a few days. Their excellent communication made for a pleasant atmosphere throughout the project.

No, I can’t think of anything. I would love to escalate their involvement in future projects and bring them in at all phases—not just the testing stage.

Overlap Studio did field research, conducting in-depth interviews with our key clients: mid- and high-level managers in several of the biggest corporations operating in Poland. The results of the study were synthesized and presented during an engaging presentation. Based on their conclusions, we’ve reshaped the product and steered it in the right direction.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Overlap Studio’s research has been essential to the future of our product. They’ve helped us save a lot of time and energy that would otherwise be wasted. The results of the study allowed us to cut work on areas that turned out to have minimal to no meaning for our users. At the same time, we gained knowledge about other functionalities worth further development.

The UX researchers have an excellent understanding of our needs. They keep open communication and deliver exactly what they’ve promised. Overlap Studio is highly professional, and they’ve followed our milestones and deadlines.
