OpenSense Labs has helped us design and develop a web-based foreign policy trivia game that can be played on both mobile and desktop.

They have been responsible for everything from the game mechanics' ideation to the game's actual design and UX. They've developed the software that runs the game from a Java stack. We just have to add final features and tweaks based on user feedback.

While we initially provided them with documentation about the game's concept and some mock wireframes, they have played a substantial role in designing the game.

Basically, it's an ordering game, so players are prompted every day with a new puzzle where they’re asked to order different countries. An example puzzle would be to order the top five countries by GDP per capita. Players are given an answer bank of eight countries and asked to organize the top five based on the question of the day. Players are given four attempts to do that.

When they’re done, they get their results via a score graphic, which they can share with other individuals and track their performance over time.

In summary,OpenSense Labs has built the consumer-facing portion of the game's web app and an admin console for the council to manage the game's content. We handle the game's marketing ourselves.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Over the past three months, the team has successfully completed every game interaction. The game is high-quality and fully functional. After the test launch, the game had a few bugs, but overall, we haven't found any catastrophic issues. The product is now being tested internally.

Our coworkers have found the game to be simple, easy to play, fun, engaging, and intuitive. OpenSense Labs has demonstrated an overall good understanding of UI/UX design. Besides, they’ve also demonstrated remarkable attention to detail throughout the design and development process.

Not to mention, OpenSense Labs has had a very holistic process working with us to ensure they fulfill our core needs and align with our mission. They’ve demonstrated high competency with that throughout the project. Ultimately, they have truly exceeded our expectations.

OpenSense Labs has met the deliverable timelines and performed well regarding project management, which has pleased us. Moreover, they’ve walked us through their Jira, and we’ve had visibility into it. We’ve also used Figma throughout the process. As to communication, we’ve combined Zoom and email. We sometimes use Slack for more day-to-day communication with the development team and product manager.

We saw clear improvements after implementation. The platform is now more stable and delivers high performance under traffic, especially during peak periods. There has also been an increase in our engagement also conversions, alongside a noticeable improvement in load times [ very fast] . Internally, we benefit from a more scalable solution that requires less ongoing maintenance.

It was a support & maintenance engagement for our Drupal website. The primary goal was to improve the website interface making it engaging & relevant to users across devices. Their delivery process is simple & clear. The project started with a thorough audit. In this phase, their team shared the project roadmap and all the activities to be done in each sprint.

They helped us drive (more) donations with easy solutions and simplified the backend workflow so non-technical team members can also manage the admin interface easily. They improved our website performance and made it mobile-responsive which resulted in a better user experience and engagement across devices.

The overall workflow was quite effective between our teams. OpenSense Labs shared weekly website updates with us on decided timelines. This kept us aware of all the updates done each week. They were approachable and understood our requirements well.

They engaged with us as technology partners more than vendors. Their client-driven approach makes them a reliable Drupal partner to work with. In one incident we were scheduled for an important meeting and faced some technical issues at the 11th hour. Despite the request coming on a weekend, the team quickly resolved our issues and saved us from embarrassment in an important investor meeting.

Centre for Women’s Development Studies (CWDS) is a research and advocacy institution engaged with and committed to women’s rights and to the discipline of women’s and gender studies. CWDS houses a Library and Information centre (VMML) which is an integral and effective part of CWDS and has a vibrant collection of research materials related to gender and women studies. I’m the PI (Principal Investigator) of the Knowledge Gateway Project and the Library in Charge of CWDS, an autonomous research institute supported by ICCSR under Ministry of Education, GoI.

At first, we had a series of discovery meetings in which we clearly discussed our vision for the website and with the design layout. Then OpenSense Labs led us across all the phases of developing a new portal website. With the proper leadership and expertise within the stipulated time period, our project was successfully delivered by this agency.

Even though OpenSense Labs didn’t have much scope to showcase creativity in regard to the design section since they had to work with a predefined theme, still they helped us in creating several pages on the basis of defined content types and defined pages along with providing the cost-effective facility.

We had a seamless collaboration with OpenSense Labs. The overall cooperation between the team members was quite smooth and easy. The OpenSense Labs team was responsive and were available for zoom and phone calls to discuss any concerns or queries.

We were happy with their final product, which had proper quality standards. Also, one of the impressive qualities which we found in this agency was adhering to the time commitment they provided us in regard to the project delivery and eventually delivering it at the stipulated time period.

With their support, we were able to move to agile and also conduct sprint-wise proper planning for smooth deployment of our project. The OpenSense Labs team was good at the product discovery approach which helped in understanding the need of our users and rightfully develop the product for them.

The website was a complete re-build for us so seeing the final product was very exciting. It was great to be able to populate the CMS during production, this helped us deliver a completed site on time for launch.

Project management was a mix of Kanban and Agile methodology under Scrum framework, cross-functional teams. This proved flexible given our challenging timeline, which OSL managed to keep to very well. Communication was either done through a dedicated Microsoft Teams group or via email.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their experience and problem-solving skills in Drupal implementation requirements were impressive. Also the ability to adapt to the occasional requirement change, but keep everything within the project timeline.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

OSL are super eager to impress and they delivered everything we needed. The result was satisfaction from all senior management and investors. From the project management side I feel they took perhaps a little too much, but that was a result of our changing requirements. Going forwards I'd say it's best to be upfront about project scope and advise the client to re-arrange as part of a Phase 2 update.

Overall communication was excellent and we did get a lot of their time. I'd say there was only a slight room for improvement.

We have more than 280 app reviews and a 4.9 app rating at the moment, with the majority of our users giving us a 5-star rating. While those results already speak for themselves, we also appreciateOpensense labs technical capacity that improved our uptime by 99.99 percent. I can’t thank them enough for addressing urgent backend issues to streamline our app operations.

Opensense lab supports us with both software development and ongoing software management. They also handle our IT infrastructure, including servers and databases. In addition, we run several scrum teams through them to support the development and maintenance of multiple products. Some of these products have been built from the ground up, while others were inherited and further developed by their team. All of our projects are thoroughly documented, and Opensense lab actively contributes to this process as they gain deeper insight into our operations and become more embedded within our team. Today, they function much like our in-house staff and play a vital role in the day-to-day running of our business. Key solutions they’ve delivered include fully developed APIs, reporting systems, estimation tools, and dynamic job management boards. They’ve also built customer-facing interfaces and implemented credit card payment integrations.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Thanks to the enhancements we've made with the Opensense lab, the speed of our product updates has significantly increased. We've gone from releasing new product versions once or twice a year to 9-10 times annually. Additionally, their infrastructure management services have greatly strengthened our disaster recovery capabilities.

Their project management has been excellent. We usually stay in touch daily through Aamir, emails, and video calls. What’s particularly important to us is the stability of Enterprise Opensense lab team, especially given the current market fluctuations. Their more experienced resources tend to stay long-term, which is reassuring. We’re also consistently expanding the team, allowing us to increase our output over time.

Opensense Lab has developed an app for Android and iOS based on my interface designs. Initially, I showed them the screens I wanted the app to have and how it should run. Opensense Lab and I have started with an NDA and a discovery call to understand what I wanted the app to do and how I imagined it to work, and Opensense Lab provided feedback, which was very useful. We had a kick-off call and signed the contract, which they adjusted per my requests. The app is a camera app that links users with other people for shared albums they create together. When a user takes photos or videos through the camera, the other person has immediate access to those photos and videos. Users can also make a customized and shareable checklist.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The quality of Opensense Lab's work has met my expectations, and I'm delighted with the app's quality; it looks like a professionally-made app

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

The project has been on budget. I've had some additional requests, and Opensense lab has been on top of everything. We haven't had to deal with anything out of our control that needed more hours to pivot. The team has taken those costs themselves and hasn't asked me to pay more. We had to delay the app's release slightly because we want to do extra things and something out of my control. However, I haven't had an issue because I am in a rush. We got back and fought the app, but everything has been clear professionally and on time.

They update me weekly, so I don't need to chase anyone. The team understands what I want and delivers perfectly.
