What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We've hired a candidate through Nexton, and they've had a strong performance since joining. The candidate has been with our team for eight months, and they've been meeting deadlines and contributing meaningfully.

For example, the candidate has taken ownership of a legacy internal tool that had become fragile and rebuilt it as a production service our operations team now relies on daily. The candidate carried it from prototype through validation with real users, handled shifting requirements from non-technical stakeholders gracefully, and owns production issues themselves, including diagnosing and fixing a critical failure the same day it appeared. The rebuild replaced hours of manual work per engagement with an automated workflow.

Moreover, the candidate has authored the design proposal for the system's next generation and presented it to the team for comment. That progression from executing assigned work to proposing architecture is exactly the growth we hoped for when we brought them on.

How did Nexton perform from a project management standpoint?

Nexton's project management has been organized and low-overhead. The team has run a clear process from discovery to kickoff, kept a short standing sync on the calendar so nothing drifted, and followed up proactively when the ball was in our court rather than letting things stall. We never set a hard deadline, but from kickoff to a completed hire with a background check in hand took about eight weeks, spanning the holidays, which beat our expectations. Candidate flow overall was steady, and the operational pieces like background checks were handled without us having to ask. Our primary forms of communication have been virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.

Nexton's consistency in following up and tracking threads has been impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nexton's pipeline consistency could improve. Candidates tend to arrive in cohorts instead of a steady stream, so we sometimes have difficulty staggering interviews. It would be better if we could have a few candidates in the first round, some in the second round, and a few in the final round instead of everyone arriving all at once at one stage or another.

We hired someone who was good, but we did a trial, and it didn't work out. Then, Nexton helped us find someone else who has turned out to be a much better fit, and I'm very happy.

How did Nexton perform from a project management standpoint?

Nexton delivered on time and had very strong project management skills. In terms of communication, we used email and messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Nexton worked the way I wanted to work — they communicated everything succinctly on Slack. The team was very efficient but delivered high-quality work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We wasted time and money on the first trial hire, so preventing that from happening would have been preferred. However, Nexton was very good in this situation, and we got to a place where I'm delighted.

The engineer uses our existing tech stack and tools, including the application codebase, GitHub-based code review workflow, and the team’s usual development and debugging tools.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Nexton’s support has helped us keep product development moving, complete requested code changes, resolve bugs, and maintain engineering velocity. Success is reflected in shipped updates, closed issues, reviewed and merged pull requests, faster turnaround on engineering tasks, and added team capacity for ongoing web application development and maintenance.

How did Nexton perform from a project management standpoint?

Nexton’s role has been more focused on sourcing and supporting the placement of the engineer rather than managing day-to-day project delivery. Project management, prioritization, and timelines are handled internally by our team. From that perspective, Nexton has delivered on their part by helping us find and onboard the engineer. The ongoing work is managed through our internal engineering process rather than by Nexton directly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What stands out most is Nexton’s ability to help us find engineering support that fits into our existing team and workflow. Since we manage the day-to-day product and engineering work internally, the most valuable part of working with Nexton has been the sourcing and placement process rather than traditional project delivery. The engineer has been able to contribute within our existing stack, tooling, and review process, which has made the support useful without requiring a separate project management layer.

Nexton has been instrumental in pinpointing and pre-screening crucial engineering talent to drive forward our software product development, a key factor in our business's success and expansion.

On the second anniversary of our partnership, we have been able to grow our engineering organization to include 6 top-notch engineers from 4 countries in Latin America, all with super technical skills, great written and spoken English, charismatic, enthusiastic, and all-around great human beings. 

This is possible only if you have a great company doing a lot of the heavy lifting which is what Nexton has done for us.

3) On-going pipeline: Nexton delivered an updated pipeline of candidates and, through automation and keen human attention, provided updates multiple times a week on every candidate that we chose to interview.

From a project management standpoint, you can't get any better than this. Always everything has been delivered on time as as advertised.

Some candidates had stronger pre-interviewing. Nexton delivers a steady pipeline and does a great job of filtering candidates before they get to us. We are a small, technically advanced software organization, so we rejected many candidates. There is always room to improve in this area and it is difficult to do.

Providing more tailored guidance or resources regarding local employment laws, tax regulations, and other compliance-related aspects could better equip both the hired candidates and the hiring company.
