Vita Health is designing a medical device and data infrastructure to support patient populations taking high-risk medications and providing clinicians and doctors with timely information. I am the director of the company and lead engineer.

I initially built a website using WIX, which had many limitations and our expertise with web development was limited. Therefore, we sought a firm with experience in building trustworthy brands like New Discovery.

The first step was a market analysis to provide a better understanding and differentiate our brand from the competitors. Next the initial form of the website was developed and once approved the design and validation phases started.

Our new website has seen an increase of ~60% visitors.

The process and project roadmap was well explained at the start of the agreement and main communication was via Slack. We also collaborated with the team via this tool.

The quick onboarding from the team members into our industry and specific scope was impressive.

Minor errors were detected on translation from Spanish to English.

What challenge were you trying to address with New Discovery Agency?

We wanted to expand our business beyond the traditional area of where we were located especially in Mexico and the US. That was why we asked New Discovery Agency to help us so that we could let prospective clients know about our services and about what we do in the company through advertising means.

What was the scope of their involvement?

At first, New Discovery Agency learned about our organization and the services we provided. They did extensive research about us before setting up a plan. They also looked at our competitors which were in the same market and had similar services. What they did was to compare our volume of sales, number of exposures, and how accessible we were compared to other companies. From there, we established the best strategy to take and how we were going to approach our goals. 

They also provided web design and development services. New Discovery Agency built our site from scratch since we already had an outdated web page. They changed our color scheme, content, among other things. We had already finished the main project, and we’re now going to the second stage which is all about monitoring the site visits of prospective clients and how much of them are going to use our services.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The team has successfully established our digital presence, and they’ve helped us spread the information about our business. As a result, we’ve seen a jump in the number of people contacting us. In total, our audience six months ago has increased by 25%–30%.

How did New Discovery Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

We usually have video conferences to communicate with New Discovery Agency’s team. We like that they request feedback from us, and they incorporate those ideas into their work. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We highly appreciate that New Discovery Agency consistently follow-up and updates us on what they’ve accomplished. They offer personalized service and that makes a difference in our business. Compared to other companies who only asked for our ideas on how they could complete their task, the team is committed to making sure everything is good. 

I’m trying to run a small business, and I highly commend New Discovery Agency’s efforts to make sure that I do my part in the project too.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s always room for improvement, but if we take into consideration where I was when I started, I’m very happy with the partnership. Going forward, maybe we should start having face-to-face meetings.

Make sure that you understand what it is that you want, and make sure that you have the information they need because they’ll request a lot of things. Tell them what’s happening and what’s your status. Above all, be open to sharing the goals you want to achieve.

I’m the director of the Mexican division of BIO El Paso/Juárez. We're a nonprofit membership-based organization that supports medical device manufacturers. We hold different kinds of activities, surveys, and presentations in order to encourage the growth of the biomedical industry here in the binational El Paso–Juárez region.

What challenge were you trying to address with New Discovery Agency?

We usually hold a large event for manufacturers, suppliers, and universities where we talk about the challenges in our industry. We had to do it virtually this year due to the pandemic.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The virtual event had two main parts. The first part was a series of eight different conferences with 16 speakers. The second part was a trade show. We have some suppliers within our organization, so we wanted to provide them with a space to present their offerings. They had virtual booths where they could share their marketing information. Within this portion of the event, businesses were given the opportunity to book times to have one-on-one meetings with the suppliers.

For the conferences, New Discovery Agency planned the organization of and invites for the different sessions. Their team also served as the master of ceremonies for the conferences. We booked the speakers ourselves, but all the logistics were supported by them.

They designed all the virtual booths for the trade show as well. Using information gathered from the suppliers via G-Suite tools, they were able to design a 3D space for each company using vExpo. They also created a marketing strategy prior to the event so we could attract as many of our target contacts and companies. They used different channels, including our own communication channels, our social media pages, and magazine articles.

We had contact with four people on their team.

How did you come to work with New Discovery Agency?

We already knew them from previous events they had been involved with here in the region. We also knew the kind of work they were doing with some of our member companies. We chose them because we wanted to work with a local company and we liked their proposal.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from September 2020-January 2021. Our event was in December 2020, and we had our last meeting the following month to share the results.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The conference portion of the event was a success. They delivered exactly what we asked of them. Compared to our previous conferences, we were able to gather a larger audience. In the future, we may look internally to see if we can better utilize our digital platforms to get even more participants.

Some of the suppliers that participated in the trade show also participated in training sessions that our organization held. In this first phase of this part of the event, the platform went down. We had a great response from New Discovery Agency. They were able to connect with everyone at the same time and got the issue fixed within two hours. This downtime caused us to miss the anticipated attendance peak of the trade show, though. That was the only truly unfortunate part of the project. We also didn’t have as many people interacting in the virtual booth space as we wanted, but this was our first experience with an event like this so we weren't exactly sure what to expect. Even with less interaction than we anticipated, some companies received very good responses.

How did New Discovery Agency perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was excellent. The way they prepared all the meetings was great. For each meeting, we had an agenda and a specific topic that we had to talk about. If there were any problems, we’d have another meeting just to talk about that. In the beginning, we had two meetings a month. As we got further into the engagement, we started to have weekly meetings. We were using Google Meet and later started to use Zoom. We also used Zeplin.

They were thorough in planning the project timeline. Their preparation process helped us a lot. In the beginning, they showed us a chronogram detailing how much time they needed for different project steps such as building the platform for the tradeshow, getting the speakers' confirmation, finalizing the marketing strategy, and determining the full event calendar. They were wonderful with that.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their organizational skills and ability to manage event logistics helped us a lot. They have great technical skills. When the software went down, they worked hard to get it going again.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. In fact, we are planning on working with them again on a future project.

Be very clear about what you want when you start working with them.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I had another agency in charge of the design and my brand identity. New Discovery Agency handled all the programming, as well as support post-launch. They also helped me with buying my domain and set up my email. The website is hosted on GoDaddy.

The team had about six people. One was the main developer, one was the project manager, and one person was in charge of gathering requirements.

They were recommended to me and ended up making an attractive offer price-wise. I liked their presentation and portfolio and considered them to be a good option for me.

My project was very cheap because I received government support. New Discovery Agency fit our budget and we only ended up spending around $1,000.

The project started in March and was delivered by June or July 2020.

The results were very good. New Discovery Agency did excellent work despite giving us a price that was lower than other projects. I knew that they would give us great service and I would definitely recommend them. They’re a very good organization with a strong team and a great philosophy.

The project was a bit delayed because of me, probably by a week or so. It was my fault because I was busy with other work. They kept on asking for information and stayed on top of the timeline. They do have a project management system but would also communicate through email to send me reminders. They always kept good control.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They stood out with their quality service. They’d organize all the meetings, listen, and write down my observations and feedback. They were always tending to our requirements.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Since I’m a frequent customer, I was hoping they would have more follow-up after they closed the project.

We’ve definitely moved up on the search engine result ranking. They’ve also been able to come up with an email campaign that’s been successful in making people aware of the different services we offer.

They do great video production work.

They could be more aware of language differences. They translate in multiple languages for us, and there are challenges there that require extra due diligence.

I am the project manager of Comercializadora. We manufacture laboratory coats and also antistatic coats for the electronics and medical industries. We’re a small company with around 40 employees in Mexico.

What challenge were you trying to address with New Discovery Agency?

A year ago, one of the opportunities that we saw was improving our webpage. It wasn’t very user friendly and we were trying to sell products through it, but we weren’t able to do that successfully.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We contacted New Discovery Agency and they started working on our webpage. They redesigned the entire platform and helped us set it up as an online store. They restructured the whole page and made it user friendly. We work on keywords to lead people to our page and they’ve been working to help us understand the market size and what our customers are looking for. 

They manage our social media accounts as well — helping us with promotions and redoing our catalog online.  Part of their work includes working with different customers we have and analyzing a region in Mexico on the history we had. They’ve helped us determine and put strategies in place for some opportunities, including creating blogs for our webpage and a bi-monthly bulletin. 

Right now, they’re working on the sales strategy and social media, primarily. We’re doing some analysis of the ads and figuring out how much we want to invest in it.

The sales and analytics are something we do on a monthly basis and those are the most important metrics. In the process, our sales continue going up around 10%–15%. Their work has been well received by our internal team. We’re very happy and satisfied with New Discovery Agency. They are a very professional company and the work is coming along pretty well.

They’re a very organized company. The deliverables have always met our goals. When it comes to providing them with information, they depend on us. We never have any issues with the timeframe — their project management approach is very professional and the deliverables are accurate. 

We also receive analytics from them. We have a monthly meeting in which they provide us with all the analytics on the webpage, including how many people are on it as well as the keywords that people are using. There is a lot of information in the background we’re receiving. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re professional and get very involved in the process. They’re willing to help with things not stipulated in the contract. They go above and beyond to help get contacts for new customers. 

They were eager to be involved on the sales side and they’ve given us a lot of interaction. It is still on our agenda to still have them help us with the sales and marketing side. We are very happy, and we will keep working with them. This process was new for us and we were lost on the online side of sales, but we’ve always had good communication and meet our goals with them.

I really don’t have anything to say about areas to improve.
