Scope of work included a 3-pass naming origination process, including, for finalist names, multi-lingual cross-check for word meanings and usages as well as preliminary legal check for name availability. Key deliverables included short list of top name possibilities with the word root meanings, multi-lingual language check for translated meanings/associations and high level name availability investigation. Along the way, we also developed a mascot as a result of the successful work process.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The name my client eventually chose came up in the first round of name candidates from Namestormers ... it prevailed throughout the rest of the process. We have since successfully registered that name, secured a url, and reintroduced the re-named firm to partners, vendors, and others under the new name.

I was impressed with NameStormers' process from our early exploratory phone calls. From their initial survey about my client, to quick availability to get on calls when we had questions, to including all of my clients' small staff in the process, we appreciated their client focus. What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The under-the-hood corporate naming process was a new experience for me. One reason we chose Namestormers for my industrial technology client is the combination of experiences that founder Mike brought to the table. He is, himself, an engineer and "got" the technology and culture my client is developing. 

In addition, he and his wife have worked in market research and branding for many years, so they thoroughly understand all of the nuances of market positioning. Finally, they've been in the naming business long enough that they understand the range of questions and situations that can arise, as well as the usual flows and dips in the process; I appreciated the perspective they could bring to the table as a result. The whole process was organized, professional, yet customized.

Are there any areas for improvement or something NameStormers could have done differently?

The hardest parts of the process are the "messy" parts that the client has to own -- whittling down name ideas to finalists and sitting with them, testing them internally and externally, etc. We appreciated the advice and hand-holding through that part. Only suggestion I could make is perhaps to codify that advice in some materials, because we kept coming back to "Mike said xyz" and not all of us were always on some of those individual follow-up calls to have heard the subtleties of the advice.
