What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

There was a timeline of key features that was not properly completed. They struggled to do live steaming, changed up integrated features (translation) without consent from client, redid the whole project backend and code without telling me the client. Didn't complete the mobile design and create a gmail without my consent and a Bubble.io account to transfer a broken app.

Required often multiple weekly meetings due to the quality of work and progress. Often failed to deliver items on time or provide an adequate timeline for features to be completed. Often needed to be reminded about features and make corrections. After failing to deliver the 1st version of the app, they promised to return 60% of my money and fix the app. They didn't properly do that, went over timeline and pushed the timeline to almost 9 months. Stop working on the project in May, didn't refund my money and fraudulently create an email and Bubble.io account to transfer the broken app.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Nothing, the quality of the employees of this company was bad. They loved making promises, but they always underdelivered. Management was the worst. Wasted 9 months of my life and don't have a working app and they stole my money.

Are there any areas for improvement or something MVP.dev could have done differently?

Understand how to estimate a project better, improve the quality of English speaking employees. Improve the technical skills of employees. The first designer mainly knew how to copy. Their expert app/coder created a laggy app with broken and unfinished features. Don't create an email using clients details and create a Bubble.io account without consent. They promise to fix the app until right and say 12 weeks guarantee. That is a lie.

I am the CEO and founder of an AI company called Ciate. We provide online academic advising specifically for higher education institutions. We tackle course scheduling problems and work directly with students and data to understand progression and how course sequencing should be done for undergraduate students.

We had some of the AI program built beforehand, but it was too much data for us to finish on our own. We wanted to bring in someone else to help us build the rest of the platform.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We originally designed everything using Figma, and had an idea of how we wanted everything to look. We wanted to use Bubble because it would be the fastest way to complete the work. 

We gave MVP.dev the required designs and features, and also provided them with a Figma outline. Their developer focused primarily on the no-code aspect of Bubble. 

Once the development portion was completed, we tested the product.

We originally met with the CEO, but we worked primarily with the developer and three people from the client success team. Our Zoom meetings would always include the developer, the project manager, and someone from the client success team. Towards the beginning and the end of the project, more people were involved, but we did not work with them on a regular basis.

We interviewed a lot of different Bubble agencies, and they were either too expensive or wouldn’t be able to complete the project. We interviewed MVP.dev and met with Robert (CEO, Founder) and were impressed. We decided to move forward after that.

We worked with them between June–July 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The platform is running very well, and no one has had any issues with it. We started onboarding students in September, and we have around 4,500 students using the platform across three universities. We only launched a month ago, and we’ve already partnered with one university.

How did MVP.dev perform from a project management standpoint?

We thought they did very well from a project management standpoint. They were flexible about meeting and responsive if we needed anything. 

We met twice a week via Zoom and used Trello for project management. If we felt like we needed to meet more than that we would set that up. If we had specific questions we would use email to communicate. 

For payment, they used a program called HoneyBook where they kept track of personal receipts and how many hours they were working. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They completed the project faster than we originally anticipated, and everything they produced was high-quality.

They were incredibly transparent and upfront about everything that they were doing and charging us for. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We had no improvement feedback for them. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Keep them updated with the things that you need, and be open with them about everything.

We were looking for agencies in Bubble.io, and MVP.dev was one of the top agencies; however, the deciding factor was that they have a team in Asia that could work with us in our timezone, which was perfect.

The process was stellar. They explained the process clearly during the kick-off meeting, they introduced their star players, including the developers and project managers, and they listened to what we wanted. The project was a little tricky, it was using a traditional stack integrated with Bubble.io, but they delivered it perfectly.

We paid for 2 developers, 1 project manager, and 1 tester, however, the managers were also active during the development.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Nothing measurable outcomes, but the dashboard and reporting features were really convenient.

Daily meeting in the first couple of days, after that, they send updates daily and use MS teams for real-time communication with our staff.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their customer service was second to none. We have contracts with multiple vendors but we have never experienced a company that is very proactive in dealing with potential issues. They assigned a dedicated client success representative right from the beginning of the project to make everything smooth.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Aside from moving to Slack from MS Teams, Teams is so slow and buggy, nothing. We will hire them again this month for another Bubble.io project.

We needed help to develop the MVP of a personal finances app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

MVP.dev helped us design and develop the MVP of our app on Bubble. Their involvement included logo design, mock-up design, and development. Currently, it is only a web-based app, but we’re now considering building a mobile version in the future.

This app allows users, after they sign up or log in, to add their different accounts, such as their savings or checking accounts. They also can add income and expense items and do transfers between accounts using a calendar-based view. It works similarly to other digital calendars. For example, if I get paid every two weeks, I can create a single income entry and program it to repeat every two weeks for my desired duration.

Additionally, it has a user dashboard that shows different personal finance metrics and calculated account balances. Thanks to this feature, users can project their account balances into the future if they stick to their current financial plan. Furthermore, it includes reporting capabilities that compare budgets to the actual money spent so that users can monitor their financial activities.

What is the team composition?

We worked with MVP.dev’s client success team, from which they assigned a dedicated client success representative. In the early stages, we also worked with a web designer and a couple of developers.

How did you come to work with MVP.dev?

When I learned about Bubble and no-code app development, I looked for Bubble development agencies on their page and found MVP.dev to be a well-recognized agency. I also found three other companies and reached out to them all to compare them.

Ultimately, I chose MVP.dev because their process was very formal, organized, and well-structured, which was great for me because I was entering a project of this kind for the first time on my own. I was also self-funding this project, and they gave me great confidence in working with them. The proposal was sent and signed digitally, which was very helpful because we were working remotely.

What is the status of this engagement?

I signed the contract with MVP.dev in January 2022, and they transferred me the app’s ownership in June 2022, marking the end of our engagement.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

MVP.dev helped me bring my vision to reality, allowing me to reach the point at which I’m about to launch our site. Additionally, their no-code development approach resulted in important cost and time savings for me.

When I had the idea for my app, I didn’t know how to approach the project. I considered expanding my knowledge and trying to build the app myself or hiring a development firm to build it from scratch. However, both options were expensive, and one of the cheapest quotes I got for custom development was around $30,000. The fact that I could get my app developed for around $8,500 using no-code development was excellent.

As for the product’s success itself, what MVP.dev developed was great. Before building this app, I used a spreadsheet with similar functionality. However, using it was very time-consuming. During testing, I validated that the app produced the same results the spreadsheet did in a more efficient way, which was very successful.

How did MVP.dev perform from a project management standpoint?

MVP.dev’s project management was great. Regarding budget management, I got quoted an estimated amount initially, but we made some changes to the scope during the project. Still, their team was very communicative regarding those additions and changes and how they would result in adding more working hours to the project. However, I was fine with those cost overages because everything was discussed beforehand.

As for issue management, we faced some challenges along the way, but they never caused concerns. Once I communicated those issues to MVP.dev, they solved them within the next 24 hours.

We used emails and Microsoft Teams to communicate and have periodic meetings throughout the project. They were very responsive, and I could email our client success representative whenever I wanted about issues or questions I had. Additionally, MVP.dev set up a portal through HoneyBook, which I ended up using a lot for communication as well, and we used Trello to manage the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It really impressed me how organized MVP.dev was during the proposal process. The other companies I reached out to didn’t have a formal proposal process; they wanted to get the specifications and charge me for their work once completed, whatever it cost in the end.

Additionally, MVP.dev brought a lot of their expertise to the project, which ultimately improved the success of the app. They didn’t just take my requirements and run with them; they also provided suggestions on making everything more user-friendly. Additionally, they advised me on things I hadn’t thought about.

Are there any areas they could improve?

One of the challenges I had was that MVP.dev’s team was in a different time zone, so I had to get used to a 12-hour difference. A lot of our meetings happened late in my day and early in theirs, but we eventually got into a good communication rhythm, and the time difference didn’t cause any important issues.

Stay really close with MVP.dev, communicate with them regularly, give them feedback and examples, and leverage their expertise.

The client wanted the app in Bubble.io, it's not our expertise so we turned to MVP.dev. The payroll app should be able to handle all common payroll features, regardless of country.

Once it's functional for a few major countries, it should be easy to continue to expand and adapt. It should be easy for the client to switch the country of their employees since they have employees working remotely. Main app is using Bubble.io and the database is set in Azure.

We can’t provide specifics about the app due to contract reasons, but it is working as we expected. There were some misunderstandings in the early stages, but they have since been rectified.

This is a contract-based project so they use the waterfall methodology. Day-to-day conversations were done mostly in Slack.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their service costs to output ratio was unmatched. The project was delivered below our target. Other agencies asked for 3x or more.

I guess scheduling. It's not a dealbreaker but there are a few things that can be improved, for instance, they are not available during our night time, which I guess is understandable.

What was the scope of their involvement?

MVP.dev is developing a web and mobile application for us using Bubble. We gave them the UI/UX we had already designed. We’re launching this product in an area where people aren’t as exposed to such platforms, so seeing the UI/UX helped the team understand what we were trying to accomplish. MVP.dev also suggested some features, so it was a collaborative process.

They’ve built the MVP, and we’re currently in phase two of development, which will end this month. MVP.dev will implement this phase and move on to phase three, where they’ll finalize additional features we plan to add.

MVP.dev is building the app in six sprints. The team is currently in sprint three, and some features are already working. The app isn’t finished yet, so there aren’t any metrics.

How did MVP.dev perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management has been great, including their response to emails and feedback. We usually communicate through email, where I can easily set up Zoom meetings. The whole team gets involved in understanding my goals and seeing if there’s anything I want. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed by MVP.dev’s prices and their turnaround time. Additionally, they have an excellent team; they really understand what we want.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only thing they could improve is on-time delivery. For example, sometimes we’re due to deploy something on Monday, and it happens on Tuesday instead. However, they’re very communicative, and delays are to be expected in development. Overall, they’ve been doing a good job, and there isn’t anything they should do better.

My advice is to tell MVP.dev what you want; help them understand your project by giving them all the necessary information. Giving them your requirements and responding to their feedback on time will help you have a successful project.

Since my company is a startup, we don’t have financial metrics to measure our partnership’s success. However, MVP.dev’s work is outstanding, despite a few occasions when we needed to improve delivered feature functionalities.

MVP.dev is very responsive, and I feel heard whenever I raise issues or ask questions. Their team sticks to schedule and budget. We’ve mainly communicated project progress via Trello and email, and have recently begun working with Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

MVP.dev’s project follow-through, specifically their ability to quickly address issues with deliverables, is great.

We had some miscommunications, but I’ve already addressed those with Robert, who fixed them and closed our communication gaps. Also, MVP.dev was unable to deliver one functionality that I wanted, but that was partly due to the limitations in the programs I wanted to work with. However, it would’ve been appreciated if they’d investigated the program limitations before I signed a contract with that specific functionality written in.

I’d advise customers to have open communication with MVP.dev and provide honest feedback on their deliverables. MVP.dev is excellent at altering deliverables to meet the client’s needs after project miscommunications.

When we submitted a request in Bubble.io RFP, they were one of the agencies who sent us their proposal. Robert as a CEO and CTO of MVP.dev, played a key role in shaping our app development process. From the very beginning, he helped us to understand what our app's MVP should look like and what features would be most important to focus on at each stage of development.

Through his keen insight and experience, Robert guided us every step of the way, providing invaluable advice that allowed us to make smart decisions about what to prioritize and when. By working closely with him throughout the entire process, we were able to create an app that met our users' needs and far exceeded expectations. As such, it is clear that Robert was instrumental in making our business a success, and for that we will always be grateful.

We wanted an MVP (minimal viable product) for our HR startup that has all the common features of a human resources management system, but needed it to include one where we could track data about current employees and predict what might be best course action if there were similar interactions in future sessions. This app is built with Bubble on top using Laravel & JS while MySQL acts as storage layer.

Robert was our direct contact at the firm, but if I have to guess, it's more than 15 based on the number of people in the project management app we are using. The team was a mix of project managers, designers, developers and testers.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

As a first version, this app still has major features to be added before we start accepting beta users, however, after rigorous testing, we found 0 bugs on the major features.

Overall, the experience was amazing! We communicated through Zoom and they recorded our meeting. After a few hours of waiting for processing we got an email saying that Trello has been updated with everything discussed in their video call.

They are responsive and addressed issues quickly. We really felt like they cared about our project, not just another task on their list of responsibilities - it seemed more passionate than that! The team at MVP.dev was very helpful in helping me figure out what features were most important to my app.

They asked a lot of great questions, which made it easier for us both think outside the box and come up with some innovative solutions!

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I guess, multiple designs to choose from, don't get me wrong, the design is great but if there's an option, it would be much better.

They do not have the expertise they say they have and are just after your money.

Communication was awful as none of the team understood what they were supposed to work on. The moment I asked to stop the project and a reimbursement, the owner stopped returning my emails, calls and texts. I of course was never reimbursed.

They never delivered what the contract outlined and never reimbursed the 50% deposit (close to $10k) I had made in good faith.
