My company, Overmind, specializes in systemic risk management. Our research and development team created a software for a simulation model that allows modeling of dynamic interdependencies and cascading effects caused by numerous events. Today, our software is used to overcome crises and to return to a normal situation.

Overmind offers optimization solutions for risk and crisis anticipation. We take into account the interdependence of variables in terms of probabilities. Modeling and simulation are our main skills. Overmind offers these services in the form of advisory missions, studies and audits, and prototyping or development of specific tools.

I am the chief executive officer.

What challenge were you trying to address with MPS Development?

Our company uses the services of MPS Development to develop specific management computer applications. These support our business so that we can provide relevant answers to various problems in several scenarios. They assist in risk diagnosis and facilitate decision-making by supporting our specialty: making analyses from deterministic and probabilistic simulations.

The computer applications are used in analysis, modeling, and simulations of complex systems, matrix dimension, hierarchies, and dynamic causal influences. Some of our projects with MPS Development have included strategic steering software, operational software, tactical software, solution probability software, and comprehensive risk management software. MPS Development has also been used for probabilistic optimization of large complex projects.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our professional relationship is very close. The relationship began to develop the solutions, and it continued with technological improvement. The MPS team is very open and professional. The construction of the application has always been on time and MPS accompanies our teams until the implementation on our servers.

MPS Development often brought forward proposals for the software’s improvement to our company. We work with one project manager and two developers. The software was developed in Java and AngularJS.

How did you come to work with MPS Development?

We found MPS Development on LinkedIn. After several exchanges, we decided to entrust them with an initial project. After that, we continued working with this company.

How much have you invested with MPS Development?

Our work cost less than $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project began in January 2015 and ended in March 2015.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The project was a technical success, thanks to the speed of work and the capacities of the developers. About 500 people are now using the platform. The goal was to provide our customers and partners an app that will help them in managing crises, and it works.

How did MPS Development perform from a project management standpoint?

The project was done in Agile, which allowed for significant flexibility and changes over time. The team met deadlines; there was no delay. We communicated via email several times per week.

MPS Development is distinguished by their professional skills, soft skills, and quick work.

What challenge were you trying to address with MPS Development?  

We wanted to make a website and web portal for people who are looking for additional work. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

MPS Development designed and developed our website from the beginning until its release. It was a complicated project with a lot of functionalities, so they suggested that we begin with a business analysis for the portal. They were involved in the development process from planning to implementation. MPS Development assigned both backend and front-end specialists to our project. After completion, they also worked on marketing the platform.

How did you come to work with MPS Development?

The CEO of MPS Development attended my courses, and I mentioned the idea of making a website. We negotiated with a lot of companies, but we decided to work in cooperation with MPS Development because they had experience in developing complicated websites.

What is the status of this engagement?

The work began in March 2014 and ended in April 2016. In the first year, MPS Development made the site. In the second year, we worked on marketing the website.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

MPS Development delivered fast troubleshooting and critical issues were solved quickly. The portal was complicated but, in my opinion, they have made a good product. Since completion, they are always ready to provide support whenever I need it.

How did MPS Development perform from a project management standpoint?

All tasks were done on time. The project was under the control of their project manager. If we needed changes in the work, their programmers did them quickly.

What did you find most impressive about MPS Development?

MPS Development always provides feedback on time. If I needed to communicate with developers, there wasn't a problem. I could see that they were engaged in the project and understood the whole process. The job was done on time and the work was of high quality.

I was satisfied with their work.

Avision Robotics is a US-based startup building a traffic management system for drones.

I am the chief operations officer and a co-founder of the company. I also work with investors and help develop the product. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with MPS Development?

We were building a completely new type of platform from scratch, with no examples of how the architecture should look. After brainstorming our first ideas, we needed to develop the platform to manage thousands of drones, each performing their own tasks. We also needed a service side, which would connect users to the drones. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

MPS Development developed a complex platform for drone management from scratch and implemented air maps into the platform. We have a website, a software product, and a mobile app. The backend is Java-based and the server side connects directly to the drones. MPS Development worked together with our team for planning the whole architecture of our product. They also made suggestions to our team for the development of the product.

How did you come to work with MPS Development?

We met MPS Development's team at an air show. We discussed our idea and assessed MPS Development's understanding of the development process. We chose MPS Development because of their experience in building airplane software and understanding of air traffic principles.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with MPS Development in September 2014. We have an ongoing relationship while we make minor additions and fixes to the platform.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We are currently involved in the business process around our product, so I don't have any KPIs or statistics to share. However, MPS Development delivered a working prototype which we're testing in a live environment.

How did MPS Development perform from a project management standpoint?

We were satisfied with MPS Development's performance. Any delays were due to changes we made in the middle of the process. For the most part, MPS Development delivered on time. From my project management experience, I can say that MPS Development has performed well with no communication issues.

What did you find most impressive about MPS Development?

MPS Development is a very experienced team with wide knowledge around aviation software, specifically air traffic control.

Are there any areas MPS Development could improve?

MPS Development could improve hardware testing, but I can understand that testing is not their specialization.
