I’m the marketing director of SIR Solutions. We provide POS, self-checkout, and e-commerce solutions.

What challenge were you trying to address with Moveo Productions?

We wanted to make a promotional video for our self-checkout solution. We had a lot of clients interested in it, but they wanted to see how it would look in stores and how it functioned.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Moveo shot a video of the self-checkout system at one of our clients’ stores in Toronto, and also did a corporate video introducing our products and services to potential clients. They handled both production and postproduction and I worked a lot with them on the scripts because I knew what the products are.

What is the team composition?

I worked with Louis (Founder & CEO) and a video technician on the first video. We had a bigger team on the second one, including a cameraman, a sound operator, a director, and Louis.  

How did you come to work with Moveo Productions?

I was looking for a company that was willing to shoot a video in Toronto, and I came across a website listing a few people. Moveo was in Montreal, but they were willing to travel to Toronto for low fees. Even with the travel fees, they were less expensive than some companies in Toronto, and they looked young and creative. I go with my gut, and I’m rarely wrong — Moveo gave me a good feeling, and the other companies in Toronto didn’t.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost for the two projects was around $12,000 CAD (approximately $9,600 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

The first video was shot in September 2020, and we started the collaboration in August or July of that year. Moveo finished the corporate video two weeks ago and launched the video yesterday. We’re looking into another project with them, in late-summer 2021. I found my people, so I don’t see the point of looking for another company.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The self-checkout system we’re selling is actually made by Toshiba. I contacted them to see if they had a promotional video for it, and they didn’t. They co-funded the first video, and I sent it to them when it was done — they were really impressed with it, and I’ve gotten very good feedback from clients and employees. The best metric is that, if I like it, it’s good.

They pretty much nailed it the first time. We made some small corrections, but they really understood what my vision was, and they had very good ideas about how we could make the video not boring. It wasn’t a typical corporate video with employees talking — It’s dynamic, and people wanted to see the full three minutes of the video.

How did Moveo Productions perform from a project management standpoint?

I was involved in the project because I know what I want and I wanted it to be perfect. Moveo really listened to my needs, and they offered me options when I wanted to do something different. Moveo found creative ways to meet my needs, and they made a fun video.

We had a Google Drive folder where Moveo put in shooting schedules and the script. I made corrections there. We had phone and Teams meetings, and they came to our office for the corporate video, to get the vibe of the company and see how our office looks — I could text them anytime, and they answered right away.

We were working during COVID, which made things more complicated, but we managed it. We were able to see everything in Google Drive, and it was very easy.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re young, and they’re very professional. They knew what they were doing during the corporate interviews. We basically had to make employees say what we wanted them to say, but without using a script, which would’ve made it sound awful. Moveo’s team asked them the right questions to make them say what we wanted. My president was very impressed with their professionalism.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’ve been very satisfied, so it’s hard to find anything.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Clients listen to Moveo’s ideas before making their minds up. It’s not my field, so I trusted them to do it.
