I was the VP of engineering at Beyond Limits, an AI solutions company.

What challenge were you trying to address with The Moonshot Factory?

We wanted to develop a custom software solution that could help a customer to protect the data in their enterprise systems, as well as the IP and source code they had deployed in that environment.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The Moonshot Factory helped us develop the custom software solution we needed from scratch. Their team was in charge of the entire architectural design and development. As for the technology stack, they used Kubernetes and a lot of other open-source technologies.

What is the team composition?

We worked with the two principals from The Moonshot Factory. We knew that they had a team behind them working on the project, but we didn’t directly engage with them.

How did you come to work with The Moonshot Factory?

One of our executives already knew The Moonshot Factory’s principals. After we got in touch with them for this project, they gave us a presentation, and we really liked it.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January–April 2022.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Thanks to the software solution built by The Moonshot Factory, we were able to migrate our application into a complete platform. After implementing the solution, we didn’t experience any decrease in performance, which was successful.

Moreover, The Moonshot Factory was able to share the materials and knowledge with our team seamlessly, working with us to do a clean handoff and ultimately meeting our expectations. Their approach was so promising that we considered using it for other projects in the future.

How did The Moonshot Factory perform from a project management standpoint?

My team handled the project management, and we followed an agile methodology, dividing the project into two-week sprint cycles. Throughout the project, we were in constant communication with The Moonshot Factory; their team followed our instructions very well and delivered on time.

The Moonshot Factory was also very responsive to the issues we found during the debugging and QA process. Overall, they were very collaborative. We used Jira for project management, had a few meetings a week via Zoom, and communicated regularly via Slack and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The Moonshot Factory demonstrated strong domain knowledge and the ability to develop a POC quickly.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would have been good if they had a software demo to show how conversion computing works because we would have decided to hire them faster. Still, I understand that this was a very new technology to have a demo already.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be very clear about your requirements, and be in constant engagement.

We wanted to ramp up our development capabilities.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The Moonshot Factory provides custom software development support. They’re currently helping us with the development and documentation of our application. Once the software is completed, we plan to continue working with them for maintenance support and other development efforts.

What is the team composition?

We’re working with six people from their team.

How did you come to work with The Moonshot Factory?

I had worked with Zubair (Founder & CEO) on a previous project. He also started his company at about the same time we needed help with developing our software.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $50,000–$75,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in September 2021, and it’s still an ongoing partnership.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’re doing a phenomenal job so far. In terms of the project’s progress, we’re ahead of schedule by approximately eight weeks and have stayed under budget.

How did The Moonshot Factory perform from a project management standpoint?

We mainly interact with them via Slack. Our in-house program manager and chief architect handle most of the communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The project we’re working on is extremely unique and new. That being said, we’re impressed by their team’s ability to quickly understand what we’re trying to accomplish and adapt to a brand new environment.

Are there any areas they could improve on?

No, everything continues to move smoothly, and we haven’t had any roadblocks.

Make sure to define the scope of your project clearly.
