Center Doors is a client we've worked with for years. Big retail chain, doors and door hardware, a lot of SKUs. Their online store was still running on an old Magento build, and by 2024 it was holding everything back. No updates, a pile of known bugs nobody wanted to touch, and almost no way to add anything new without someone explaining why it wasn't possible. The design hadn't been touched in years either.

We're an SEO and advertising agency, not developers. So we needed someone who could take the entire rebuild, not just a slice of it: design, frontend, backend, the server, the migration. And they had to follow our SEO team's technical specs properly, because search visibility is what the client actually pays us for.

Molfar rebuilt the store from scratch on Laravel and moved it off Magento. They started with design. New catalog, product pages, filters, checkout. Then frontend and backend: catalog structure, search and filtering, the ordering flow, and the admin panel the client's managers sit in all day. They also set up and configured the VPS themselves, prepared the environments, and handled the migration of the catalog, content and URLs from the old site.

Our SEO team fed them requirements the whole way through: URL structure, redirects, metadata, markup, page speed targets. All of it got implemented. A couple of times a requirement clashed with how the new system was built, and instead of quietly dropping it they came back with an alternative and we picked one together.

What we had at the end: a new design, a live Laravel site instead of the Magento one, a server set up properly, the migration done and a codebase the client can actually keep building on.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The main thing is that the site can be changed again. On Magento almost every request turned into a conversation about whether it was even technically possible. Now a new section or a catalog change is just a task with an estimate. Search dipped for a few weeks after launch. We expected that on a migration this size, and it came back. Positions and traffic are at the old level now, except the platform isn't fighting us anymore. The client notices it mostly in two places: the admin panel and the speed. Their managers stopped using workarounds to get basic things done, and pages load noticeably faster than on the old build.

Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Eighteen months of work, and the rhythm never slipped. They had a project manager on their side, we could see the task list, and calls happened often enough that nothing ever came as a surprise. What mattered most to us: they treated our SEO specs as part of the job, not as someone else's paperwork. Send a requirement mid-sprint and it got estimated and scheduled, not debated. Answers came fast, and more than once they caught something our side had missed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

One team did design, development, infrastructure and migration. We've run projects where the designer, the developers and the hosting side are three different companies, and most of the lost time happens in the gaps between them. There were no gaps here, so there was nothing for us to manage. The other thing is the SEO side. Working with developers, that's usually where it gets painful, because technical SEO looks like optional polish if you're not the one responsible for rankings. They didn't treat it that way, and that saved us a lot of arguing.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Molfar could have done differently?

Design took longer than it should have. Too many review rounds, and part of that was on the client, who kept reopening things that were already approved. It didn't move the launch date, but it squeezed the development stage more than anyone wanted. We'd set a tighter approval process next time.

What specific goals or objectives did you hire Molfar to accomplish?

• We engaged Molfar as a development partner for a large multi-store e-commerce platform built on OpenCart. Several storefronts run on a shared catalog and back office, and we needed extra development capacity for the platform's custom functionality and for a long list of integrations. The integration side was the main reason we brought them in. The stores had to be connected end to end to the client's BAS accounting system, to Nova Poshta and Ukrposhta for delivery, and to online payment providers, with fiscal receipts issued automatically on payment as the law requires. Customer identity verification through Diia.Signature, Ukraine's state digital identity service, also had to be built into checkout for the order types where a verified customer is required. On top of that we needed the existing OpenCart codebase stabilized, load tested and maintained while the new functionality was being added.

Molfar took over the development and integration work on the platform. They started by going through the existing codebase, the database structure and the configuration of each storefront, then planned the integration work around the client's operational and regulatory requirements. Their scope covered backend and frontend development across the storefronts and the shared admin area: catalog and order management, custom modules, template work. Most of the engagement, though, was integration development delivered turnkey. Stock, prices and orders are synchronized between the stores and the client's BAS accounting system in real time, which replaced the manual export and import of spreadsheets. Delivery integrations with Nova Poshta and Ukrposhta cover waybill creation, branch selection and shipment tracking. Payment integrations handle order statuses and refunds, and fiscal receipts are issued automatically on payment with no manual step. Customer identity verification through Diia.Signature was built into the checkout flow, including the handling of verification results and the order rules that depend on them. The team also ran load testing, simulating thousands of concurrent users to find bottlenecks before peak traffic reached the stores, and implemented the fixes the results pointed to. Key deliverables: the working multi-store configuration, the BAS, delivery, payment, fiscalization and Diia.Signature integrations running in production, custom modules for the client's order processing flow, load testing results with the performance fixes that followed, and maintenance of the platform throughout the year.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The platform went into stable operation with all the planned integrations working in production. What changed day to day: stock, prices and orders are synchronized with BAS in real time, so the client's team stopped moving spreadsheets by hand; shipping documents are created without manual entry; fiscal receipts are issued automatically on payment, which keeps the stores compliant without anyone being involved; and orders that need a verified customer are confirmed through Diia. Signature inside checkout rather than being processed manually. Load testing was done ahead of peak periods instead of after incidents. The bottlenecks it found were fixed in advance and the stores held up under traffic. For us the main outcome was predictable capacity. Molfar handled the OpenCart and integration part end to end, which let us keep the rest of the delivery on schedule, and the platform has run without critical incidents.

The work was well organized. Molfar worked in short iterations with a dedicated project manager on their side, kept tasks and progress in a shared tracker, and held regular calls to review what had been delivered. The agreed scope was delivered within the planned timelines, and when priorities shifted during the engagement they replanned without disrupting the release schedule. 
Communication was direct and quick. Questions were answered the same day. Their team raised technical risks and open questions early rather than after the fact, and worked independently on their part of the project while staying aligned with ours.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The depth of their integration work, especially with accounting and state services. Diia.Signature verification, automatic fiscal receipts and real-time BAS synchronization each come with their own compliance requirements and edge cases, and Molfar treated them as engineering problems rather than plugins to install. They handled order statuses, stock discrepancies and failed requests properly, and that is what made the platform dependable in daily operation. Two other things stood out. Load testing came as their own initiative rather than something we had to ask for. And they were willing to work inside an existing OpenCart codebase and maintain it instead of pushing for a rewrite.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Molfar could have done differently?

Early on, documentation of the integrations lagged behind the development itself. For the first couple of months part of the data flow logic lived mainly in the team's heads. It was resolved after we raised it and the integrations were documented properly for the rest of the project, but having that in place from the start would have saved us some back and forth.
