What was the team composition?

At least two people including a communicator, the head of the company, and a writer. The size of the team grew and shrunk to meet our needs.

We saw multiple placements and made some good connections.

Great! Mind Meld was super helpful and we used email, phone, and Google Workspace to get things done.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their ability to understand what our needs were was impressive. They were honest and transparent about their efforts and what worked and what didn't even offering more work to make sure we got what we needed.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We could always use more coverage!

I’m the director of public relations for a health education platform. We’re a software company and we’ve created a platform for medical education that helps students study the continuum of care virtually.

We wanted more press and exposure for our company because we’re a startup and a small business.

We were about to launch, so they connected us to media outlets. They also helped us by creating and curating content for Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Our chief marketing of sales officer worked with them in the past and referred them.

We spent $6,500 CAD (approximately $5,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in October 2019 and we finished in February 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We were looking to achieve 1,000 new visitors to the website and a hundred social shares, and they helped us meet our goals.

Mind Meld PR Inc. was great. I really enjoyed working with them.

Jonathan went out of his way to connect with as many types of media outlets as possible. He was super helpful with creating content.

How did Mind Meld PR Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

Jonathan was very hands-on and attentive. They were very efficient and talented. We corresponded by email and met in person.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I particularly liked the copy that Jonathan wrote. He is a talented copywriter, particularly with LinkedIn posts he made. He was very thorough and professional. I would definitely recommend him.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Overall, in terms of workmanship, they did well.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be very specific about your objective. Don’t be afraid to be open with the direction and vision you have. You can work simultaneously to achieve that.

We closed our seed round, so it was an opportunity for positive PR, which is why we hired Mind Meld PR Inc.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We had a phone interview in which Mind Meld PR Inc. asked me a couple of questions and asked for some materials. They then came up with a draft for a press release. After some back and forth, they finalized it and made sure that it got into the hands of the media.

Jonathan (Founder & CEO) was my main point of contact.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $2,000 CAD (approximately $1,495 USD.)

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them from March–April 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We got two interviews out of the press release. It was a small assignment, so I don’t think it will have a material difference because that was never the intention. They helped us get some PR, which was good. 

How did Mind Meld PR Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

I had calls with Jonathan, and the team delivered on-time and within the budget. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Mind Meld PR Inc. came up with a good storyline for our press release. In the past, we’ve done press releases, but we’ve never received media coverage. So it was great to get the media coverage with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, nothing comes to mind right away. If anything, it would’ve been great to receive some cybersecurity coverage. The publications that covered us were more focused on startups.

They are a good team to work with. You should be explicit about the outcomes you want to get out of the assignment.

We were looking to outsource PR and communications.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We collaborated to set long-term objectives and set a calendar. They work with us on strategic objectives set for the company. They also help develop content, and distribute that content once it’s produced.

Currently, they’re doing media outreach; it’s more than just marketing as it sets the communication of the company.

Jonathon (Founder & CEO) is the point of contact. I’m not sure how many people from his team he distributes the work to.

How did you come to work with Mind Meld PR Inc.?

I knew Jonathon from previous projects. We wanted to work with him again because of his knowledge and reliability.

We began working together in May 2019, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They deliver exactly what they promise. The media outreach is helping us provided references in other marketing materials we have. It helped us distinguish ourselves in the marketplace. We have received very positive feedback from some of the articles they’ve been involved in producing.

How did Mind Meld PR Inc. perform from a project management standpoint?

They are on top of things. We have weekly meetings where they provide analytics and update us on results. Jonathon and I speak throughout the week as well about progress and what’s needing to be done. They stay on schedule, delivering on time and within budget. We use Jira, Slack, and phone for communication and project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They really know what they’re doing. We collaborate well together; they understand what we need, and we understand how they work. We see them as part of our team. They always bring different perspectives and new ideas, without any ego if we decide not to use any of them.

No, nothing comes to mind.

You need to work as hard as they do; don’t just expect them to do everything. It takes collaboration and communication.
