Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the VP of growth at clickworker, a crowdsourcing company. We have about 5 million affiliate workers around the world, predominantly working in resource data for technology companies in the AI and machine learning spaces. We do data training for large technology companies and startups equally. We also do a lot of e-commerce work, including store visits and product catalog tests for large manufacturers.
As for the company itself, we’re a mid-sized company with offices in the US and Europe. We combine our workers with a technology platform and a mobile app to gather data in a more economical way than they could achieve on their own.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
WWhat challenge were you trying to address with Martal Group?
We needed a partner to get us qualified leads and help us shape our sales engagement effectively. We also needed help managing our larger customers.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Martal Group helps us with lead generation and sales engagement. They use a multi-channel approach, leveraging emails, phone calls, and LinkedIn interactions to generate leads. Initially, we defined an ideal customer profile and provided Martal Group with some information about our business.
Creating the scripts and messaging has been a collaborative effort. In many ways, Martal Group is better than us at creating email scripts because they know the email structure better for how to craft the body and place the call-to-action effectively. They also create the scripts for the phone calls, and all their work is fine-tuned by us.
Obviously, Martal Group’s work includes managing lead generation campaigns for us. For these campaigns, we simply give them high-level specifications and some recommendations, and they go out and get us a combination of marketing-qualified leads and sales-qualified leads. Additionally, they help us hold meetings to have conversations with potential customers and try to close deals.
Martal Group is also proficient in other areas like Google ads because they do that kind of work for them and other clients. Still, those services are something we don’t need from them. We’re mainly focused on lead generation and sales engagement.
What is the team composition?
Around five teammates from Martal Group have been involved in the project in different areas like marketing, sales, and management, including Vito (Founder & Director).
How did you come to work with Martal Group?
We selected Martal Group due to a number of factors. Part of it was their location, another part was their reputation, and yet another part was the language. Vito speaks multiple languages, which was a great advantage for us.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working with Martal Group since around Q1 2018.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’ve been able to measure Martal Group’s work by using our ROI based on their performance and the number of leads we’ve obtained. Over time, we’ve seen a great ROI.
In terms of qualitative feedback, we’ve been able to use several other services and compare them with Martal Group’s. Every time, the quality of their work has exceeded the other organizations’. Due to those reasons, we’ve kept coming back to Martal Group.
How did Martal Group perform from a project management standpoint?
Martal Group’s project management has been excellent. They have a distributed model, so a lot of different resources specialize in project management and engagement. They have a very slick, well-oiled, and professional framework, so we’ve never had any problems with the deliverables.
We typically communicate with Martal Group via email, phone, and virtual meetings through Zoom and Microsoft Teams. At times, we’ve also communicated via instant messaging. The fact that they have multiple communication channels is appreciated.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?
I would like to give a shout-out to Vito. He’s very experienced, professional, and spot-on overall.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Martal Group is very adept at learning the ins and outs of our business effectively, to the point that they’ve almost become experts in the early phases of selling and engaging with our customers. They seem to be very good at understanding our business and effectively engaging with people to lead them toward showing interest in our business.
Martal Group has also offered a high degree of consistency. They’re very hardworking and innovative, so they always tell us what has changed, what they’re doing differently, and what new approaches they’re trying. For example, they observe our competitors to see what they’re doing and what results they’re getting. Basically, they’re always changing and optimizing, which we’ve found very useful.
In summary, the fact that they provide an excellent ROI and the fact that they’re very innovative and forward-thinking are Martal Group’s two differentiating factors.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There’s nothing we would change about Martal Group. If anything, we would like to have more budget to expand their services and target different segments we currently don’t target.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
You have to do your part as well. Spend time thinking and planning upfront the process and ask a lot of questions to get your requirements very clear. Many people assign all the responsibilities to the lead generation company without doing the preparation work they need to do.
Additionally, having weekly meetings with them is very effective for highlighting issues or changes. Constant and frequent communication is very important.

Our funnel is flowing at full speed, thanks to Martal. We had some success on our own, but our sales cycle lasted six to nine months. Prospecting for clients was our team's biggest hurdle. Since Martal started scheduling appointments for our BDRs, we’ve closed more deals. We’re adding an additional sales executive so we can scale faster. Martal Group has been integral in expanding our client base into the US.
While we had already established some solid, long-term relationships in the EMEA, we struggled to gain traction in North America. Over the past three months, our funnel has grown exponentially. We are really excited about the opportunities in our pipeline.
Honestly, I had worked with other lead generation firms before that had promised the world but came back empty-handed. I am happy to say that with Martal Group, things have been much different. All the reps have experience in tech sales and know the buyer personas inside and out, which has been a game changer. We had meetings booked on our calendars in less than a month of campaigning. If these results continue, I fully expect to carry on a long-term partnership with Martal. Martal wasn’t what I expected.
Usually, with these lead gen agencies, you get a lot of unqualified leads that just don’t make sense. It’s a frustrating waste of time. That being said, Martal delivered on its promises. We are blown away by the team’s professionalism and industry knowledge. We’ve learned a lot about our target market and how to position our brand. The opportunities they have generated are perfect fits. We couldn’t be happier!

Martal is helping our company build our initial lead generation pipeline and establish a web presence. We’re an early-stage, highly-focused technical startup, and Martal allows us to develop our business without spending the time, effort, and money on dedicated headcount as we ramp up. They’re filling a competency need that we don’t have internally. They’re also helping us clarify our market positioning and bring conversations to the table.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor?
We did some initial research and narrowed our search down to 5 companies. Of those 5, we completed interviews with 4 and narrowed it down to Martal and one other. We chose Martal over their competitors for two key reasons:
as our company grows, Martal can provide additional assistance in the sales pipeline beyond connecting us to leads. This assistance was hugely important to us as a company because our internal team is very specialized, and this option allows us to remain lean and focused on our core mission.
They don’t just send emails - they use a combination of emails, LinkedIn, and phone calls. This combination sets them apart from the other providers.
Describe the scope of their work in detail.
We began with a web presence review several weeks before outbound marketing began. During this time, we received feedback that would help improve the success of our campaign with Martal. We answered a detailed questionnaire and reviewed initial outbound email marketing copy prior to the beginning of the campaign. During the campaign, which is ongoing, we meet once weekly and review leads, email open rates, and LinkedIn connections.
We plan to engage Martal for the Tier 2 offering, in which a Martal rep assists with the sales process after the initial consultation, but haven't pulled the trigger on that yet.
What was the team composition?
We have a campaign manager and two additional people dedicated to managing communication with potential leads. We also have an email deliverability export. The campaign manager sits on the weekly calls and provides general guidance, helps us with web presence, and helps us incorporate feedback and manage positioning during the campaign.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
We had our first qualified lead call within 3 weeks of the start of the campaign after a year of network-only growth. We've also made significant improvements to our general web presence as a result of the feedback that Martal's team has given us even without engaging them directly on dedicated help to build our web presence.
We see that we're starting to get additional traffic to our website driven by this campaign, and we see leads moving through the funnel. We've never had this before, so we're very excited about the progress Martal has helped us make in such a short time!
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
We have a dedicated weekly virtual meeting (via Google Meet), and communicate via Slack, email, and through shared Google docs. Slack and (virtual) face-to-face seem to be the most effective ways to communicate, with email being effective most of the time, and Google docs not being an effective workflow between our teams.
What did you find most impressive about this company?
The completeness of their offering and the experience that our project lead brings has been beyond my expectations. Martal has been more professional and deliberate in this process than I was expecting.
Is there any area for improvement or anything that could have been done differently?
Responsiveness via Google docs comments could be better. We haven't worked through how to manage feedback to email copy in an highly-effective way yet.
