C-DAC has a mission of brining Indian Language Technology. Bilingual websites therefore were to be created, which at that time was different since UNICODE was not in place for Indian Languages.

Also for imparting cultural and lingual knowledge to students outside India, Education Board wanted to have multimedia based training material on CD. It was created by Marksman Technology/

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The Multimedia CD was used by Central Board of Education in 9 countries for 6 years successfully.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was very effective group work. The teams merged well to create quality output. It was pleasant experience.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Hard work, Effective Project Planning, Nice way of handling Client for gathering information for requirement analysis and taking feedback in Spiral Development Model of Software Engineering.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They could have taken some more efforts in designing Fonts for Indian Languages instead of using existing TTF fonts, but that was not the major issue.

I was a senior marketing communication executive at KOHLER India, a consumer goods company.

We needed someone to create our website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Marksman Technologies designed and developed our website from scratch using the government-to-employee (G2E) framework. They also created internal communication platforms like training modules which help new joiners to understand our policies, learn about our products, and easily train themselves. On top of that, they built small microsites which were linked to our main website. We used those whenever we launched a new product and utilized it for marketing campaigns. They created CMS platforms as well as offline and online websites, too.

Additionally, the team managed our digital marketing and social media activities. They handled our social media pages such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and their work also involved publishing our posts and generating leads on those platforms. They developed our campaigns based on the information we gave them such as our target audience and market.

After that, they came back to us with ideas and costs of what they’d do and we discussed how we could improve them. Once we approved, they went ahead and implemented the campaigns. Subsequently, they presented the results and what we could improve in the next phase. Overall, we launched at least two products per month.

We were in contact with 4–5 people, including the owner, but we didn’t know the total size of their team. We collaborated with their client supervisor who was our main point of contact and he had two more people in charge of interacting with us regarding their daily jobs. We also worked with a lot of technical and creative people, but we didn’t directly interact with them.

How did you come to work with Marksman Technologies Pvt Ltd?

We put out a request for quote (RFQ), and our first project was to build a website. In the end, we evaluated 2–3 agencies. After seeing Marksman Technologies' technical capabilities and knowledge of the products and software we needed, we decided to go ahead with them. Their cost-effective services were also a consideration.

We spent $30,000–$35,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We collaborated with Marksman Technologies from January 2009–August 2013.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Marksman Technologies was efficient and knowledgeable. As a result, we had good results out of the development they did for us. Back in 2009, digital marketing wasn’t common and Facebook launched in 2009 so there wasn’t much traffic. Having their team helped us secure a good number of likes and that results also showed that their strategies worked for us.

How did Marksman Technologies Pvt Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

They were always on time, and they were responsive. They used email, WhatsApp, and other social media platforms to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their ideas and technological expertise were good. In fact, they were innovative.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They improved a lot during our partnership so I couldn’t comment on areas they could improve. Marksman Technologies was really in the right space at the right time.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They’re a good agency so go ahead and give your campaign details to them. They’ll come up with great ideas and will execute efficiently and fast. Above all,  their turnaround time is faster than other competing agencies.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

This company had very good references in LMS space and we saw their dedication and commitment. Their understanding on start ups was the key selection criteria apart from their technical dilgence.

The project was divided in three parts. The first one was to customise their existing technical platform as per our requirements. The second stage was for classifying our program under different modules. In third stage the content was put up on the platform with an exhaustive beta test done by their team before launch.

I think apart from Mr Vishal there were two more persons from his team. I am not remembering their names now.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

It was a simple project to impart dairy skill development in dairy farming and milk processing. The same is happening even today at their platform without any problem.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

I think that the workflow was good and turnover time for any modification was fine. Barring a few instances when things might have got a bit late, I do not remember any specific instance of disruption of workflow.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their understanding of the subject and relationship management with constant feedback loop makes them different.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I think they are fine and could be more focussed to get better results. However I am not much aware about their industry and activities at large.

What challenge were you trying to address with Marksman Technologies Pvt Ltd?

We needed help with our main backend technology to finish the solution that 65,000 schools and 15 colleges needed.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Marksman Technologies assisted with developing our learning management system (LMS) using Blackboard, which was the most prominent LMS at that time. However, I wanted something that I could white label with my company name so we integrated my organization’s ERP with it. In total, there were around 13 modules that were incorporated into the platform. 

I defined the complete scope of their work and was in charge of the UI/UX design. The team was focused on the development of our platform and referenced the 42-page document I prepared. Later, we decided to migrate and upgrade to Campus View.

There were between 8–10 people assigned to our project.

Somebody must have referred them to me. After that, they had assisted us with our LMS seven years ago, in March 2013.

We pay them about $6,000 annually. We also spent about $10,000–$13,000 on our project seven years ago. 

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing collaboration started in March 2013. We’ve been working together for about 7–8 years on various projects. We’re now working together on a project that I’m setting up in New York which will be launching in March.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Marksman Technologies likes to move forward and compete with other leading solutions providers. As a result, end-users have been very happy with what they’ve produced because it’s exactly what they wanted in the platform. We’ve had some crashes and issues, but once they’ve been identified, the team immediately addressed them. Overall, the platform is easy to use.

How did Marksman Technologies Pvt Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

They complete everything on time. We have weekly one-on-one meetings where we visit each other’s locations. We also communicate through phone calls and emails.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their passion and focus on technology are impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Due to the COVD-19 pandemic, things have slowed down on the development side. I’m sure that they’ll pick up their pace though.

Our website was created over 13 years ago and had become outdated in terms of keeping up with the current trends and usability options. Our goal was to create an interactive website which would given an enriching experience to our very selective audience. We were looking for the website to provide an interactive administration module for someone like me to manage the website for the life of it.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I have known about Marksman Technologies and it's founder Vishal since it's inception more than 20 years. I have known him to be someone who would go out of his way to help his customers achieve and exceed their expectations over last countless number of projects. I always had him in my mind for any work I might be needing done for our initiative and had no problem deciding on Marksman because of the same reason.

The scope included creation of a media rich website for end users which would allow them to enjoy the experience of highest quality content in audio and video format. I also needed an admin interface to build the website from the content point of view. Marksman used primarily PHP, MySQL, and Linux platform to deliver the solution for me.

Vishal took keen interest in the project for me and managed the whole project from Marksman's end. There was a graphics designer and a coupld of php developers who helped him deliver the solution I was after.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The feedback from the users I have personally interacted with has been incredible. They can't stop appreciating how easy it has become for them to navigate through the vast collection of digital audio and video content provided by our website. We know that the website is for a very selected set of audience and I am very pleased at their satisfaction levels going through the roof.

We had weekly catchups in early phases of the project and after that the reviews were planned depending on the project deliverables. The Marksman team was flexible and Agile in their ways to meet my expectations. We used emails and google sheets mostly to keep track of key measurables, bugs, fixes etc.

The most unique thing about Marksman was their flexible approach to deal with any kind of problems which were brought to their notice. No work was too big for them ever!! That was the approach that helped us sail through with our expectations.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

As per my experience with Marksman, they were exceptional with their services. I would just suggest them to keep up the good work and keep going the way they are and scale new heights in years to come.
