I came across MarkaWorks almost by chance while searching online for branding support, and I’m extremely glad I did. We are an award-winning hospitality brand based in Kenya, and had reached a point where our branding no longer fully reflected the quality, ambition or direction of the business we are building. MarkaWorks has already helped take us from something that felt somewhat amateur to a much more elegant, cohesive and polished brand that feels far more representative of who we are. From the very first interaction, I was impressed by their professionalism, responsiveness and, particularly, the effectiveness of their workflow. The journey from input to output is lightning fast, incredibly efficient and very well organised, without ever compromising on quality or attention to detail. I created a DTC health & wellness brand over 10 years ago, and I was struggling with a clear identity and an engaging look & feel. So, I hired MarkaWorks, whom I perceive to be the best in the business, to help me with a total overhaul, including rebranding the logo, packaging, and the look & feel of all the brand's visual assets. The key deliverables included: Logo re-design Packaging alignment with goals and re-design Visual assets Brand guidelines The result was something I am truly happy with and ready to continue investing in my brand, while grasping the appeal of our customers.  I should also mention that this is the second project I have done with MarkaWorks, and I have been extremely happy both times, and I will do it a third time when the opportunity arises.

The impact on my brand is yet to be measured with a tangible number because we're yet to relaunch it (we are 3-6 weeks out, waiting on the manufacturing runs). 

But based on my readiness to continue investing in it on a scale of 0-10 (0 being unwilling to invest more in the brand, and 10 being ready to invest), I was at #1 before doing this project with MarkaWorks. In other words, I was not willing to continue investing and promoting the brand with its old look. 

After the rebranding performed by MarkaWorks, I am at #10, and I am ready and willing to continue investing aggressively in my own brand.

MarkaWorks offers excellent communication, and they're able to adapt to my needs. In fact, the project was delayed briefly because of my own internal needs, and when I was ready to begin, they picked up exactly where we left off and continued delivering all assets on time. What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

No measurable outcomes were achieved, as the project did not reach a stage where the deliverables were fully completed or usable in a commercial context. Due to missing key deliverables, inconsistencies in the brand system, and the need for corrections and partial re-execution, the project could not be effectively deployed or evaluated against its original objectives. As a result, the expected commercial and branding outcomes were not realized.

Project management lacked consistency and structure throughout the engagement. Timelines were not adhered to, and there were significant delays, with some deliverables taking up to one month while still containing technical errors. Communication was irregular at times, and progress did not reflect a clear or efficient workflow. Overall, the project management approach did not meet expected professional standards in terms of planning, execution, and QC.

The initial scope of the project and the range of services offered appeared comprehensive and aligned with the needs of a full branding and digital development engagement. At the outset, the positioning and proposed capabilities suggested a structured and complete approach to brand development.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Marka Works could have done differently?

Greater alignment between payment structure and actual project progress is needed. A significant portion of the total fee (approximately 90%) was requested and paid before the initial phase had been properly completed, while key deliverables remained pending or incomplete. Improvement is also needed in ensuring that payments are linked to clearly defined milestones and verified deliverables, rather than being requested in advance of execution. Additionally, stronger quality control and project management processes would be necessary to ensure that deliverables meet professional standards before requesting further payment.
