I’m the founder and owner of Midori Bikinis, a women’s swimwear company founded in 2011.

What challenge were you trying to address with MAIUS?

My goal was to go into our social media accounts and make advertising more efficient and effective. We were bringing in low ROI and weren’t changing our content as quickly as I wanted. I hired MAIUS to help optimize our ads so that we weren’t having such high ad spend with so few results.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

MAIUS provides us with social media advertising services. First, we had an initial call to review our brand goals, values, and voice. The team asked us to send them our existing content and show them what was most pertinent to our brand based on our inventory. They also interviewed our top customers from the previous two years to see what they loved about our brand. 

Together, we led 30–40 minute interviews with three of our top customers. MAIUS dove in with questions about why they had initially purchased from our brand, why they’ve continued to do so, and what sets our brand apart. We also talked to the customers about demographic information, such as their lifestyle and preferences, to better understand the people we’re selling to. 

From there, we gathered content necessary for MAIUS to put in front of our prospective customers. They provide content creation, taking the existing content and creating more from it. For example, they may take a picture and add an overlay or edit videos to be more optimized for the platforms we’re advertising on. MAIUS puts the content into place in ads that they run on TikTok and Instagram. They’ve run tests to see what performs best and brings in the most conversions. Aside from conversions, the team also focuses on traffic since the engagement on our social media channels had been low before.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to MAIUS’ work, we’ve seen a significant drive in our ROI and an increase in sales. They’ve also been able to drive more traffic to our social channels because of how they’ve rearranged our content; the team has put our best content to work. For me, it was also important that our brand voice was seen in a better light, and MAIUS has conveyed a very clear brand voice for us. 

Moreover, they’re on top of the latest market trends in advertising, which gives me confidence in their abilities. They have a good team that works well together, and they’re very invested in our company’s success. For example, they’ve provided us with feedback outside of advertising to improve our website.

How did MAIUS perform from a project management standpoint?

They deliver everything on time and within the budget, and their communication is really efficient. MAIUS is also willing to communicate with other agencies we work with, which is really beneficial for us. We keep two-way communication open between them and our email agency, so we’re all on the same page.

I like that MAIUS invests time in getting to know our customers.

As of now, there’s nothing they need to improve; I’ve been really happy with them.

I advise coming into the engagement with MAIUS with a proposed budget for ad spend from the beginning.

We had trouble finding vendors that were reliable and provided consistent service. Many would start strong then the results would diminish over time. We found MAIUS through a partner agency that had used them for years on larger accounts.

Our work with MAIUS began with a series of discovery meetings, they focused on the specific SEO keywords for our client campaigns and the custom personas that we had built. They then spoke to several key members of our team and developed a tailored advertising plan for each client that included the channels we had requested along with strategic recommendations.

While we have worked closely with their Director of Growth, we have also had access to and received recommendations on difficult client scenarios from their CEO.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We began to see results immediately upon switching to MAIUS. Our clients have seen a 40% increase in contacts directly attributed to their ads as the origin.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

MAIUS has done a great job of fitting into our existing workflow. We have weekly touch-base meetings with their Director of Growth to go over progress and next steps for each client. We also communicate over Slack and email for questions and updates. They are very well organized and they get the work turned around quickly. Every ad is presented with multiple options on copy and creative. Thanks to their timeliness our team is able to approve and present to the client before posting.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We're really impressed with their strategic thinking and the logic behind their decisions. The recommendations are spot on to our client needs and its obvious that they have real experience in the industry. Their focus on continuous improvement shows in the results for our clients. If something isn't going as expected they dig into the "why" of it.

We are actually really happy with the results and communications between our companies.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Matt is truly open to real conversations about return on spend. As basic as that sounds, we've worked with plenty of agencies that dodge the hard questions altogether. Matt is more than willing to dig into the details to understand and optimize for profitability. He's made multiple pivots based on that data.
