BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the sales and marketing manager for a manufacturer of radiation detection and monitoring equipment.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Main Street?

We had a variety of products in the same genre but for different industries. As such, we needed Main Street to create and fill up websites for us. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Main Street is responsible for the development of five of our websites. Eventually, they’ll handle six sites. They also do social media management for those sites, among other things.  For specific tasks, they reformat our product data sheets, a process that takes a while because we have more than 300 products. Apart from that, I also have to check every product after they’ve reformatted it to make sure they don’t miss anything. 

Due to the complexity of our product catalog and of how we want to spread them out, we’ve also had a lot of discovery phases. Our umbrella website only has our company information without the products, so a separate website has all our products on it. If the industry is looking for medical detectors, we’ll have a separate website for medical detectors. Another website may contain only our water products, power products, and so on. 

What is the team composition?

We work with 1–2 people from Main Street, including Phillis (Creative Director & Founder). 

How did you come to work with Main Street?

We were putting together a conference in Las Vegas, and we advertised for a designer to help us with our marketing materials. We met Phillis there, and we started working together. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the partnership in January 2007, right when everything came to a screeching halt because of the financial crisis, and it’s ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Main Street has come up with several excellent logos for us, and the development of the websites has been smooth. Apart from that, Phillis is excellent. She’s easy to work with; she’s ok with any change we make, so we don’t have arguments around what the deliverable should look like. In other words, she takes our inputs truly well. 

How did Main Street perform from a project management standpoint?

Phillis stays on top of everything. To communicate, we talk over the phone and email.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a real eye for design and are excellent at coming up with branding. Moreover, Phillis is so fast; she keeps sending me deliverables that need to be reviewed. In fact, I’m way behind her. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be responsive whether you communicate through email, texts, or phone calls. Phillis doesn’t wait around for a long time, so you should have good back-and-forth communication.
