The main task was to build a B2C store and set up PIM for data enrichment.Create interfaces between business software Iscala, PIM and Magento We started the work by mapping the needs.

The store was opened a little later than the schedule, but it works according to our wishes.

The project was not completed on time, because the project manager had to be replaced halfway through. The owners took action themselves and saved the situation. At the moment, I can say that we're delighted with the final result.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The important thing is that the owners are always ready to intervene when the cooperation tends to get stuck.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Lumav Commerce could have done differently?

The project manager's ability to see, if the order submitted by the customer is not the most effective and would actually need a better solution, then the project manager could propose it. A few times we had to re-order things because of this and in my opinion it could have been avoided. We wasted time and money because of it. Of course, you can always say that you ordered it that way, but I expect the partner to think along.

Extensive product selection for business clients: 

• The existing information exchange module was further developed to facilitate data flow between the ERP (Business Central), PIM (product information enrichment channel), external suppliers, existing individual customer store, and the newly created B2B store. A well-thought-out and fully automated process allows us to expand our product range and ensure real-time information synchronization rapidly. 
• High-quality product data and new product launches: Akeneo PIM was integrated as a tool for product enrichment. It provides an overview of the various product enrichment levels, ensuring user-friendly product information input. 
• Customer-specific prices and product selection: Using Adobe Commerce Shared Catalogue functionality, an automatic margin-dependent pricing solution was developed and easily configurable based on the customer. 
• Automated and convenient customer registration process: A connection with the Business Register was created to simplify business customer registration, enabling both data entry and automatic checks for board members. Additionally, a custom solution was devised to allow one person to create multiple accounts for different companies and choose one of them when logging in using their ID card, Mobile ID, or Smart ID. 
• Role management for order requester, approver, and reviewer in large enterprises: Utilizing Adobe Commerce Company Accounts, users could create an organizational structure with roles based on personal identification numbers for different users. The Purchase Order functionality enabled the main user to initiate the order approval process. 
• Automatic application of credit limits: A development was made on top of the Adobe Commerce Company Credit base solution, allowing business clients to monitor their credit in real-time and allocate it to subordinate users. The client manager could set payment terms, and if the credit limit exceeds, payment could be made through bank link, credit card, or advance invoice. 
• Comprehensive logged-in customer view: Our business clients had a clear overview of physical stores and online purchases after logging in. Confirmed orders, credit limits, and the possibility to apply for credit increase, company structure and permissions, sub-user rights, company details, and more were easily accessible 24/7 without the need to contact a customer manager. 
• Thoughtful backlog for further development: A comprehensive list of identified tasks during the analysis phase was quite long, and our business clients would be able to enjoy them in more detail after some time :)

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

In general, project management and delivery were ok. The initial deadline was not reached but on the other hand we need to consider also the size of the scope and very short initial deadline and therefore no hard feelings.

I think that being able to involve a significant amount of resources, including their top-level leaders, showed their commitment.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Lumav Commerce could have done differently?

There were some areas of miscommunication where we asked to first show the "out of box" solution to decide if it would cover our needs and therefore save time and €. But some tuned-up solutions were still surprisingly done according to analysis document and/or CVI.

I’m an e-commerce strategic manager for Decora AS, a hardware retailer.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Lumav Commerce?

They developed a completely new e-commerce site for us, or rather an omnichannel site. We’re mainly a retail company, and e-commerce is an addition for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We moved from a PrestaShop platform to Magento 2. Lumav started with a business analysis phase to determine what our short- and long-term goals were. Based on that, we determined together what the site should look like and have in it. Everything was implemented accordingly.

We have seven stores, and we sell products online that are available in physical shops. Customers can see the availability of an item at different locations, so they can buy it at the physical store. The site displays different transportation methods when adding an item to the cart, along with estimated delivery times. A customer can log in either before or after adding an item to the cart. They can choose between multiple payment methods, including debit and credit cards and pay later.

We made a lot of connections between Magento and our sales program. A lot of things are automated, such as sending new orders to the sales program, where we can see whether it’s paid, what its delivery time is, whether the customer is a registered user or not. We can see everything, and it’s all well-connected.

What is the team composition?

I collaborated directly with a few people from Lumav, but I don’t know how many were involved in the actual development.

How did you come to work with Lumav Commerce?

We knew that we wanted to have a Magento platform, and we were looking for developers with experience in that field and in working with larger companies. We wanted someone reliable, and we had only around four options in Estonia. 

We chose Lumav because they seemed very interested and because they were completely dedicated to Magento. The initial business analysis was also a key factor in our decision because it enabled us to set goals and understand what we wanted before we started developing.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost was around $125,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Lumav in August 2018, and we ran an analysis period until December of that year. The development process started in January 2019, and we went live in September 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The impact of Lumav’s work on our business was very visible during the coronavirus crisis because everyone started buying online. Had we not moved to a new platform and made everything connect automatically, we would’ve been in deep trouble. We were quite ready for this very sudden demand in e-commerce, and we grew about threefold during the crisis. It’s even continuing even though we don’t have any strict restrictions in Estonia anymore.

At the same time, our website session times have doubled, and that’s had a good effect on our stores. As an omnichannel site, customers normally visit it to find the products they want, then come to physical stores. We didn’t have that before; people just assumed that we might have a product, but they never knew for sure. The current site has had a very good effect.

How did Lumav Commerce perform from a project management standpoint?

It was quite good. We were a bit late compared to the original plan, but the second deadline was met appropriately. It’s normal in IT for nothing to get done as planned, and Lumav communicated the delay very well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve worked with five different developers, and my previous experience was that, as a customer, I had to make a lot of research about what was happening on the market and what was new, then go to the developer and tell them what I wanted. 

Lumav offered much of this themselves. They’re keeping us up to date on what should be done to keep growing as a company. They’re really thinking along with us on how to achieve our business goals.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Everything went quite smoothly. It was a big project for both us and them. A lot of things could’ve been improved, if we think about it. We made some new plans in the middle of the process, and that should never be done. It caused some delays for us, but it was also our fault, as a customer.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I’d suggest going through a business analysis phase with Lumav. Most customers don’t know what they want before starting development. They may know that they have a few thousand products, and that they want to have a cart button, but there are many other things that need to be considered. Business analysis helps us understand where we want to be in 10 years.

Lumav has the project management well worked out. They use Jira board to organize work and staging, prelive and live environments to make changes on the project. The project managers response quickly.

They had all the knowledge needed for developing all kinds of Magento e-commerce solutions.

The project schedule and budget did get bit over the estimated values, but I guess this is common with larger projects building new things from zero. It all ended well :)
