Their scope of work covered the further development of our decentralized OTC technology, including the improvements of our escrow smart contracts, UI/UX enhancements, and the integration of advanced data management capabilities to strengthen our overall tech stack.

Linum Labs delivered exceptionally on all fronts. Web3 is an industry riddled with distrust. Linum is the absolute opposite and a showcase of the best Web3 has to offer. They are creative and adaptive. They see hidden values in the tech that even the founders could not have seen. Their tech expertise is on a high level, and their quick understanding of our unique smart contracts and tech stack was a revelation.

Linum were very quick to repsond as we had direct communication with Selma (who is brilliant). Often within the hour we would get updates and if there were any things that needed prioritisation that would be dealt with in a quick and efficient manner. Linum were also able to bring additional resources on to the project when things were busy. Overall excellent communication

The quality of work:

Linum have some really excellent Web3, Mobile, Front End, Back End and Full Stack Developers. They were consistently able to deliver on the project on time, to a high standard, in budget.

Communication:

We had weekly check in's with the Project and Engineering Team and regular updates from Linum. They don’t just leave you in the dark which is very good. I would strongly recommend using Linum Labs

Are there any areas for improvement or something Linum Labs could have done differently?

Not in my experience of using them. The overall quality of work, communication, and ease of working with them was 10/10.

I’m the owner and co-founder of ApeVine, a wine authentication project on Web3 and with cryptocurrency technology.

What challenge were you trying to address with Linum Labs?
We hired Linum Labs to create a mobile app to read our wine labels with a chip on the back. Our ultimate goal was to solve a problem; we had a great way of authenticating wine, but we’d have to use a third-party app. We didn’t like any third-party apps since they were full of ads, free trials, pop-ups, and other things that we didn’t want to give to our customers. As a result, we decided to make an app with our branding. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?
Linum Labs developed our custom mobile app. They also worked on its UI. I hadn’t developed an app before, so I was worried about dealing with a company that was either too expensive or didn’t understand what I was trying to do. Given that, the entire Linum Labs team sat down with me and talked me through everything to figure out what I needed.
They started giving me a heads-up about what they were working on, which wasn’t what I wanted for the design. I gave them some notes, and they gave me exactly what I asked for after that. They built the app for iOS and Android.
For features and functionality, the app could read an NFT chip that would take users to an authenticated version of our wines.
How did you come to work with Linum Labs?
Linum Labs was referred to us by another Web3 goer who discovered I was looking for an app builder.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $4,000–$5,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The engagement happened in October 2023. The product is finished, but it’s not live on the app stores yet. Nonetheless, our engagement with Linum Labs has been completed.

Linum Labs met and exceeded our expectations.
How did Linum Labs perform from a project management standpoint?
They delivered work on time and on budget. For communication, they were in a different time zone, so I always woke up with a long list of items I had to talk to them about — they were as thoughtful as I was about launching on time. As a result, we worked together truly well. We used Slack to communicate.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their communication was their biggest strength.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I wish they accepted credit cards.

Before engaging Linum Labs, ensure you have the cash because they don’t accept credit cards.

I’m an executive of an NFT and blockchain startup that helps nonprofits raise charity money through blockchain technology.

What challenge were you trying to address with Linum Labs?

We hired them for blockchain and custom software development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Linum Labs built an NFT marketplace for us. They designed and developed a fully custom marketplace, including smart contracts. In terms of technologies, they used Solidity for the smart contracts and React for the frontend. The process took six months.

Part of this project's wireframing and discovery phase was devoted to researching on-ramp payment tools that could allow customers to pay with their credit cards in addition to cryptocurrencies. They used Ethereum as a cryptocurrency payment method and Stripe for payment processing. On the platform, our team uses an admin dashboard, and end users interact with the marketplace through our website. 

What is the team composition?

Throughout the project, we worked with 10 teammates from Linum Labs, including a project manager and a business developer, during the sales phase. The team also included a designer, a smart contract developer, and around two backend engineers. 

How did you come to work with Linum Labs?

We found them through a referral from former coworkers who made the connection, introducing us to Linum Labs. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $70,000–$100,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We had our first contact around January 2021, the first engagement lasted from April–October 2021, and we had a second engagement from January–March 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Around 400–500 unique customers transacted through the marketplace. 

How did Linum Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

They were great communicators. We primarily used Discord for communication, though we also used Google Meet. The Linum Labs team transitioned from Discord to Slack on their side. For project management, we used GitLab to track the agile process, and later we used GitHub. 

In a large fixed-cost project, estimating the scope in advance can be challenging. Trust and integrity are important in these cases, and Linum Labs demonstrated that they cared about our success. When they needed to step back and solve a problem, they found solutions in our favor cost-wise. As a result, I've spoken very highly of them and recommended them to others. Overall, they did a nice job of communicating and navigating the process. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Linum Labs felt like a partner; they would check in frequently and overcommunicate during key periods. They put together a whole team effort to help us speak to one of our partners outside of billable time for them. Linum Labs went the extra mile to act like a member of our team, more than I had seen with previous providers. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

There was nothing they needed to improve. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Provide Linum Labs with as much detail on the requirements as possible so that they understand what you're trying to accomplish and why. This detail is particularly important for designers. 

The biggest challenge isn't just describing the project's scope but why you care about certain things because they'll have to make small decisions that represent what you want. Linum Labs did a really nice job of grasping what we wanted so that we didn't need to hold their hand through every micro-decision.

Cost is a primary factor. It was rather high considering only one person with unknown auditing experience was assigned to the project with Gareth the lead auditor who was presumably just managing the tos and fros. Would highly recommend bumping down your cost OR assigning more personnel (like other established firms) that charge roughly the same :)

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The measureable outcomes were frankly just the comprehension of what we were trying to achieve, the subsequent implementation of the vision and the effective development/completion of the project overall, as the major reason why we decided to engage in a realtionship like this was for the experience and expertise provided from which we wanted to learn

Overall they were very proactive and responsive, and largely diligently held up their end of the bargain, certainly in terms of availability, efficiency and so on. Seemed to be a bit of internal and extrenal communication problems, as the handover of the project from one contract to another, and then from one project manager to another resulting in some diffivulties, incomprehensions, potential mistakes and so on (and hopefully not unnecesary time or monetary consumption).   Overall the service provided was certainly more than satisfactory and appreciated, but did not always perfectly align with certain (potentially not appropriate) expectation on our side. One major  point we were hoping for was more direct influence in the collaboration efforts from Linum's side, recognizing the obvious superior kowledge and experience from which we hoped to observe, understand and learn as much as possible.
