When I was hired as the new Executive Director of the Niagara History Center in May 2024, I recognized the need for a new website utilizing WordPress to increase our brand as well as out community outreach and engaement within Lockport as well as Niagara County and Western New York. After researching web design companies that have knowledge of experience with nonprofit needs, I met with Limit8 LLC's CEO Yelena Lowenfeld. After reviewing their Website Redesign & Support Proposal with my staff members and Board of Trustees members, we chose to move forward with the project. Myself and my staff kept up constant conversation throughout the project through Basecamp where we were able to upload digital materials (i.e. photos, video links, digital flyers) as well as make any rhetorical corrections and stylistic corrections to the website during development.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The website was developled, tested, and published within the schedule given by Limit8 LLC at our first meetings. There has been increased traffic to the website and more notice of our events and updates by the public digitally married with our increased use of social media (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn). The website has also had positive community comments who have praised its ease of use and accessibility.

Yelena and her team stayed to the described schedule that was outlined in their proposal and first meetings. Limit8 and the Niagara History Center members who assisted in the development of the new website maintained continued contact with Limit8 through Basecamp with messages answered within at most 24 hours.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was impressed by the development of such a spectacular website in a cost-effective and affordable means.

I did not recognize any needs for improvement of where things could have been done differently.

1. Redesign the existing website for Townspeople (www.townspeople.org). 
2. Create a new user experience to engage current and prospective donors, community partners, and volunteers. Implement new Information Architecture to present the content in a clean, modern, visually appealing, intuitive, and easy-to-search way. The new website must be fully responsive, mobile-friendly, and optimized for organic searches. 
3. Provide comprehensive yet user-friendly single sign-on access to content management and publishing tools for easy content updates by the website administrators and moderators. 
4. Implement social media share, follow, like, and news feeds and image streams. 
5. Implement analytics tools and provide initial on-page search engine optimization for the top-level pages to increase visitor actions taken on the website.
6. Provide documentation and staff training on website administration and content management.

New website designed and launched

LIMIT8 delivered all items ahead of schedule and was incredibly responsive to questions we had, which was impressive given the time difference (we are on the west coast and LIMIT8 is on the east coast).
