Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the owner of a company called Nurturing Through Nature, and there are two sides to the business. I have a nutrition consulting side where I do one-on-one sessions, education, workshops, and corporate wellness. The other is the product side with an herbalist and a forager, and they make holistic self-care items with herbs.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with JV Studios?

I reached out to JV Studios because I was looking to completely revamp my website and I needed their branding package. I needed a professional to come in and be able to see what I needed visually — or what content would be attractive to have on my website. Additionally, I wanted to market the product side of the business and get my name out there, so I was also looking for photography and videography services as well.

I reached out to JV Studios to co-create a video that was going to encompass my story, the process, and my products. That was the branding package that we came up with to rebrand my business.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

JV Studio completely redid the design of my website on Squarespace, and provided me with SEO, video production, and photography services. We came up with a lot of fresh content, but we were able to use bits and pieces of some content from my old website. Additionally, they also took new photos and implemented a structure that was really attractive, but also easy for the users. 

They also worked a lot on SEO and things that would help people find the website. I worked closely with them on the keyword research, because I’m very passionate about my uniqueness, and the kind of niche that I have in my business. This was so I can give them a good idea of what I was all about, and the kind of audience I wanted to reach. 

For the video production side of the project, we sat down and came up with a storyboard to help me get a better idea of their ideas. I explained to them what I do, how I’m a forager, how I created my products, and how I really wanted to focus on the uniqueness of my process with them. We really worked together to figure out the story, and the kind of setting they were interested in.

What is the team composition?

I mostly worked with Vince (Creative Director & Co-Founder) and John (Managing Director & Co-Founder). They also had other crew members and those were Brendan (Camera Operator) and Jackson (Camera Operator).

How did you come to work with JV Studios?

I was actually friends with Vince in college and remembered him starting out his business then. When I was interested in doing this rebrand project, he was the first one that came to mind. I went to his website and was totally blown away by their professionalism, expertise, and amazing work that they did — I thought they were the perfect fit, so I reached out to them and felt really connected to their energy.

They were fun and easy to work with, which I thought was really cool. We were able to connect and relate in a beautiful way, which I felt was really unique about their company.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested around $60,000–$70,000 for all the projects we worked on.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked on the rebranding project from June 2020–January 2021. We have a continuing maintenance service for the website with them, but it’s not really on a frequent basis.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The amount of success I had from the project was incredible. After we launched the video that we created together, I had actually sold out all my products and seasonal boxes that I released. I was totally blown away by the response I had gotten from all the marketing materials.

Since then, I’ve been able to have wholesaling opportunities and get into some local markets, which I’ve been completely excited about. I feel like my audience is really seeing me more as a well-put-together company, and that has definitely converted into sales.

How did JV Studios perform from a project management standpoint?

It was beautiful and it was super easy to work with them. Something I really loved about their company was that they had very clear roles in their business. It was so easy to work on the logistical side of things with John, and he was a really clear producer and leader for Vince. It was just clear that they were brothers because they had great chemistry in the workings of their team.

We mostly communicated through emails, phone calls, and Skype.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The thing that stuck out the most for me was their energy. They were so fun, laid back, and easy to work with — they made me feel really comfortable. There was just an energy to them I felt very endearing, and they were also easy to connect with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wasn't disappointed with any part of the process. It went really smoothly, and I don’t know if I would’ve had the same experience with anybody else. I’m just a really happy customer.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Having a clear vision was really helpful for the work that we did together. I felt like I was really strong in what I wanted, and was really clear about not being afraid of communicating that to them. Additionally, a good thing to have in mind is they can absolutely be supportive in creating that vision for you. The process went so smoothly because I was really strong and focused on what I wanted.

I’m the director of finance and marketing of ShangriLa Farms. We’re a family-owned business focused on sustainable farming and processing meat in more environmentally responsible ways.

What challenge were you trying to address with JV Studios?

We hired JV Studios to create videos to help us get our name out there and increase overall visibility.

What was the scope of their involvement?

To start, JV Studios presented us with their plans for our videos. Their team handled the entire production process for the documentary-style video and shorter clips. They filmed interviews of all relevant people to show our family-oriented environment, recorded some historical information on our farm, and managed all the pre- and post-production stages. We’re still in the process of creating a few of the videos, but some have already been shared on Facebook.

How did you come to work with JV Studios?

We looked at the top production companies in Chicago and researched dozens online. JV Studios stood out to me because they were also a family-owned business like our farm. I felt like they understood our needs and wanted to deliver a great final product.  

How much have you invested with them?

The project total is around $65,000, plus travel expenses. So far, we’ve spent close to $45,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with JV Studios in March 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our sales have nearly quadrupled since we released some of the videos. Our investment in the project has already paid for itself because of how positively received the videos have been. Our internal team is delighted—JV Studios produces fantastic quality work that is better than we envisioned. We’re always blown away by the outstanding final products; I can’t speak highly enough about the work they’ve created.

How did JV Studios perform from a project management standpoint?

Our whole experience has been great because of their skills in managing the project. Even early in the process, they were great at communicating with us. When we reached out for a bid, they responded within hours. They keep me involved in the process and are always transparent about their ideas and progress.

What did you find most impressive about them?

JV Studios takes pride in their work and are passionate about what they do. It feels like they want the project to be as successful as we do. Additionally, they’re easy to get along with and make us feel comfortable throughout production.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything they could do better—they’ve been fantastic to work with.

Reach out and give JV Studios a chance. They will not disappoint. From the beginning, you’ll be able to tell they’re passionate and produce more creative work than any other vendor.

I’m the food and beverage marketing manager for theWit Hotel in Chicago. ROOF on theWit is one of our outlets where we hold several events per year.

What challenge were you trying to address with JV Studios?

We needed a videographer to create a recap video for our New Year’s Eve event to promote our bar. We hired JV Studios to create this for us and continued to use their services for several other videos.

What was the scope of their involvement?

JV Studios have created six videos for us. We have several events throughout the year, and their team produced recap videos for each one. They included all the essential aspects of each event and provided us with useful promotional materials to use.

John (Co-Founder & Managing Director, JV Studios) was my main point of contact. They typically provided between 2–3 people for the projects.

How did you come to work with JV Studios?

We searched for nearby vendors online using Facebook and YouTube. We were highly impressed with JV Studios and the seamless quality of their videos. We reached out to their team, and they were very accommodating to our needs and concerns. We had no doubt they were the right choice for the rest of the videos we wanted.

We spent between $25,000–$50,000 on their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together on the videos from December 2016–December 2017. Because of internal budgeting reasons, we haven’t been able to work with them as much as want, but plan on using them again in the future.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The recap videos have been very successful for us. We post the content on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram and viewers have responded with glowing feedback. The videos had a major wow-factor that impressed our videos and internal team. We’re proud to post the materials online to promote our venue.

How did JV Studios perform from a project management standpoint?

JV Studios was very thorough and organized throughout the project. At the start of the work, they provided all the necessary preliminary paperwork and outlined their approach, which we appreciated. They also had a great system for going through rounds of revisions and incorporating our feedback.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their team was easy to work with and always accommodating to our needs. They were professional, quick, and receptive to us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything for them to improve.

My only advice is to work with JV Studios. We witnessed them grow throughout our engagement and working with a team like them can only help your organization. I recommend them highly.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We currently have commercials going on social media outlets to advertise our local store and it is killing it.

Everything is on time. They were extremely particular about their time management. I was probably the one slowing the timeline down because they were more on top of it than I was.
