Please describe your company and your position there.

Strobels Supply is an industrial supply distributor as well as liquid paint applicator in the rail/transit space. I am the General Manager.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Jaxel?

As our paint application division (technically a manufacturing function) continues to grow there is greater demand for automated quality control functions as well as customer communications. Our vision was to create an app and customer portal that tracked project backlog, production activities, and quality control requirements. We also wanted our customers to have visibility into where their project work stood in our process as well as expected completion dates.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

When we finally committed to do this project we vetted 3-4 different vendors. Jaxel proved to be the most thorough with their initial interest/discovery and easy to work with. They were considerate of our big picture as well as sensitive to our budgeting desires.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

Communication with the Jaxel team made each phase of this project successful and painless. Their attention to detail, question asking and follow up really helped discovery. Once in development we had regular check points and the team showed us the latest functionality. The team has a very fluid approach which made minor changes on the fly possible and extremely beneficial.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

The team consisted of 8-10 total members. Our project lead was fantastic. Consistent, reliable, thorough, great communicator and easy to talk to. He did a great job of understanding the project and pulling in the appropriate team members as needed. The core development team also shared these approaches and asked a lot of very insightful/thoughtful questions that pushed the application forward. Great work done on their part with the coding of functionality and the U/I presentation.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our project is just about to launch into production and we are very excited. Most everything we've discussed has been in previous demos and appears to meet our initial expectations. We are excited to get the application up and running to get feedback from our personnel.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Extremely effective, and much of that is credited to Jaxel's approach. They had been organized, very collaborative, inquisitive, dependable and smart.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their team never made this project seem like just another project. They were truly interested in learning about our business and the industry so that they could understand the need and use case for the application. That goes a long way when developing something net-new like this.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Aside from seeing this application in production we do not have any issues or concerns. Everything that popped up or didn't meet exactly what we had in mind was openly discussed and tweaked in real time as the project was being completed. Couldn't be happier with the choice we made to use Jaxel.

Jaxel has delivered on time and on budget. Overall, we’ve had a great experience working with them.

How did Jaxel perform from a project management standpoint?

Jaxel’s project management has been excellent. The team is responsive and on time. We communicate remotely through Slack and Zoom meetings as needed.

Jaxel’s fast turnaround time and quality of work are impressive.
