We required video production in Pakistan, and we needed a team that could do it with an editorial understanding of our requirements.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Jawad Sharif Films (Pvt.) Ltd. helped us with video production. We needed to tell the story of three cities in Pakistan in a unique way to connect with a particular audience. We couldn’t be there personally, so we asked Jawad Sharif Films (Pvt.) Ltd. to interpret our concepts and execute them creatively.

They created a documentary film; their team shot footage and worked with us on the technical aspects based on the brief we gave them.

I mainly worked with two people from their team, but others were involved in the project.

We chose them for this project because we looked at some of their online, which was excellent, so I was confident in their abilities.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from July–August 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were asking for a lot within a conservative budget, and they could provide exactly what we were looking for within those parameters. They took on board conceptual thinking and came back with well-executed work that captured our ideas.

Project management was great; they delivered on time and within budget. Regarding communication, we used email — they were good at communicating the challenges and what it would require to address them.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive thing is the quality of their work.

I didn't think there was anything they could improve on.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm a freelance film producer. I was hired by a Japanese production company to administer the overseas shooting for a governmental institute video project. Although I have done similar work in the past, it was my first time working on a project concerning Pakistan.

After doing internet research on film production companies in Pakistan, I found Jawad Sharif Films. They seemed like a perfect partner for this project, with extensive experience and high-quality films they have produced in the past.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

The team was comprised of 2 producers and 1 director / cinematographer. We exchanged various e-mails and held 1 online pre-production meeting. During the meeting, they sent timely feedbacks via WhatsApp.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They did a great job in terms of the quality and the number of footage they filmed. Kashmala, the producer, was a great interviewer and her presence was a big surplus to the overall quality of the interview. Jawad is a very talented cinematographer. From the footage he shot, one can sense the care he gives to selecting the perfect frame. We are very satisfied and impressed with the beautiful images they shot.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective. The team did a great job in terms of communication. They sent e-mail responses in a timely manner and updated frequently during the shooting using WhatsApp messages. I was administering the project from overseas, so the swift communication helped a lot.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Quality of their work, great personality of the team members, and their dedication to work. Very pleasant team to work with!

Are there any areas for improvement?

We are very satisfied with their work, we hope to have a chance to work with them again!

We develop apps for teaching English to kids; I manage the media production department in the company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Jawad Sharif Films (Pvt.) Ltd.?

We wanted to make a Pakistani version of the app, and we went to them to produce all the videos for it.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Jawad Sharif Films handled the full production. They found a host, shot the video in a greenscreen studio, recorded audio, and edited the final videos. We had three days of audio and video recording, plus another two weeks of editing.

What is the team composition?

I worked mainly with Jawad Sharif (Filmmaker) himself, as well as with the wardrobe manager and one other person.

How did you come to work with Jawad Sharif Films (Pvt.) Ltd.?

I found them online and saw a lot of good reviews. Jawad had a good portfolio, they were faster than the other companies we looked at, and they could provide us a host and other things that we asked for. They seemed better prepared than the other companies.

How much have you invested with them?

The project cost was around $6,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with them between April–June 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re hoping to publish the videos within the next month, so we haven’t gotten feedback for it yet. However, we’re very happy with Jawad’s work.

We mainly communicated through email. Jawad was very responsive and helpful, and they did whatever we wanted. They made all the changes we requested. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their professionalism made them stand out from others in the industry.

I don’t have anything specific. 

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I was very involved in choosing the talent and wardrobe, and I think that this is important for clients to do.
