The objective of the platform is to analyze fuel price data, route information, and operational variables to identify the most cost-efficient fueling strategies for trucking fleets.
ITechDev will be responsible for developing the core software architecture, database structure, and user interface required to support the platform’s functionality. This includes building algorithms capable of evaluating multiple fueling locations across different routes and generating optimized fuel purchase recommendations based on price, distance, and route constraints.
The system will integrate datasets related to fuel pricing, truck stop locations, and route destinations, enabling the platform to generate a list of recommended fueling stations for each route. The software will also allow users to input origin and destination points and receive optimized fueling plans based on the available data.
In addition, the work includes testing, debugging, and refinement of the platform to ensure functionality, reliability, and performance.

What challenge were you trying to address with ITECHDEV?

We hired ITECHDEV to support a reengineering project of an existing system to adapt it to new operational processes and organizational requirements. The project required making adjustments to a legacy platform in a short period and with high priority. Therefore, we sought to ensure that the improvements and adaptations were implemented efficiently and aligned with the project's objectives while maintaining operational continuity.

What was the scope of their involvement?

ITECHDEV supported the reengineering and adaptation of a legacy system considered a pillar project for our organization. The goal was to align it with new operational processes and institutional requirements. The team analyzed the existing system, implemented necessary adjustments and improvements, and adapted the software to support the new workflows defined by our organization. To do this, ITECHDEV analyzed and understood our organization's internal business rules and the system's structure. The system was built with different technologies and development styles accumulated over time. This was an additional challenge since the team had to maintain compatibility with existing functionalities while making the necessary adjustments. As a result, ITECHDEV adapted and improved various system components. The team modified existing modules, made adjustments to support new operational processes, and adjusted the system's logic to align the platform with our organization's current requirements.

Thanks to ITECHDEV's work, we updated the system to respond to the new processes within the required time. This allowed us to maintain operational continuity and support the project's strategic objectives within CAINTRA.One of the most relevant indicators was meeting the delivery times for a project considered a priority for our organization. Despite being a legacy platform with multiple previous adjustments, ITECHDEV integrated the required changes while maintaining the system's stability and operational continuity.As a result, we implemented the new processes within the expected timeframe, which was one of the project's main objectives. Additionally, the system supported the new processes defined by our organization without affecting the existing operation. This represented an efficiency improvement in managing these processes.Although we didn't establish a specific quantitative indicator to measure efficiency, the system's adaptation improved process management by aligning it with the new operational flows defined by our organization. Consequently, we reduced the need for manual adjustments or rework within the system, facilitating the execution of certain operational tasks and enabling a more organized process management.Moreover, by adapting the system's logic to the current requirements, we reduced incidents related to the system's operation and improved its stability, contributing to a more efficient operation for users.

It involved different technologies and development styles, which was an additional challenge. Nevertheless, ITECHDEV adapted to that complexity and made the necessary improvements. Overall, ITECHDEV's approach to understanding both the technical and operational aspects of the system was a key factor in advancing the project and achieving the set objectives.

As with any project of this type, there are always opportunities for improvement, particularly in aspects such as technical documentation and knowledge transfer of the system. This can facilitate future adjustments or maintenance by internal teams.However, considering the system's complexity and the project's limited time, ITECHDEV focused mainly on meeting the priorities and objectives. As a result, the team made satisfactory progress in the required adjustments.
