I'm an Executive of From Ordinary to Extraordinary, an education company that empowers survivors of abuse by providing access to skilled trades training, career opportunities, and supportive resources that foster self-sufficiency.

What challenge were you trying to address with Interdependence?

We hired Interdependence to help increase public awareness of our company and expand our reach to individuals, organizations, and communities that can benefit from or support our mission. As a nonprofit dedicated to empowering survivors of abuse through skilled trades training and pathways to self-sufficiency, we needed strategic PR support to amplify our message, build credibility, and connect with a broader audience.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

One of the most significant outcomes of our engagement with Interdependence has been the development of community partnerships that have created real opportunities for our program participants. As a direct result of increased visibility and networking efforts, we've established connections with 64 clinics that are willing to provide employment opportunities for our students after they complete their training. This represents a major step toward our goal of helping survivors of abuse achieve economic independence and long-term self-sufficiency.For us, the greatest measure of success is the increased number of opportunities available to the survivors and families we serve, and Interdependence has played a significant role in helping us expand those opportunities. While we don't have specific numbers or percentages to quantify growth in program participation as it relates to hiring Interdependence, our mission has always been focused on impact over volume. We believe that if even one survivor or one family is empowered to break the cycle of abuse, achieve self-sufficiency, and create a better future, then we've succeeded.

Interdependence's project management has been outstanding. The team is organized, responsive, and consistent in following up on opportunities and making valuable connections for our organization. I always feel that our goals are a priority and that the team is committed to helping us succeed.My primary point of contact, Kelly (PR Director), has been exceptional throughout the process. She genuinely believes in our mission and has shown a level of compassion and dedication that goes beyond what I expected. Kelly truly wants the best for our organization and the survivors we serve. She has matched me with an incredible team that understands our mission and goals. What stands out most is that she doesn't simply pass me along to others and step away; she remains actively engaged throughout the process, checking in regularly, offering support, and ensuring our needs are being met every step of the way.From my experience, Interdependence delivers on time, remains engaged throughout the project, and consistently works to create opportunities that help expand our impact and reach within the community. What did you find most impressive about them?

What impresses me most about working with Interdependence is their ability to move quickly and deliver results, even under challenging circumstances. There have been times when opportunities or scheduling changes happen almost overnight, and what seems impossible, such as securing media connections and interview opportunities within just a few days, somehow becomes possible because of their team's dedication and responsiveness.Their time management and sense of urgency are remarkable. Instead of focusing on obstacles, they focus on solutions. Whenever a deadline is tight or plans change unexpectedly, they adapt quickly and work tirelessly to make things happen.I'm also impressed by how personally invested they are in our success. The team doesn't treat us like just another client; they genuinely care about our mission and work hard to help us share our message with a larger audience. Their combination of professionalism, persistence, strong relationships, and commitment to our cause makes them a truly unique partner for our company.

Interdependence deserves to take a break and celebrate their successes. Maybe a cup of coffee together, but knowing their work ethic, I doubt they'll have the time. We would like Interdependence to help us make this happen sooner rather than later, and I am confident that they will.

We brought on Interdependence in a time-sensitive moment, on the eve of a major go to market announcement. They stepped right in without missing a beat, bringing in a team of four PR account executives (each across the four time zones) to ensure real-time hour by hour monitoring and work. They secured a major placement for our launch, and over the next two years proceeded to elevate our brand and thought leadership. The result is that our company led in share of voice across all its major competitors and drove substantial, high-quality web traffic to our business websites -- resulting in increased revenue across the globe.

Interdependence brought in a team of four PR account executives (each across the four time zones) to ensure real-time hour by hour monitoring and work from the start. They established weekly, standing check ins, with an updated media tracker -- including opportunities, pitches, placements. The team was always very timely with communications and managed multiple projects and goals at once, always with clear focus and consistent high-quality deliveries.

The value proposition of Interdependence was that they use a proprietary technology to identify reporters and media outlets who were well positioned to report on the types of stories we needed to promote, before those writers or outlets reported on such stories. The result was often successful pitching of those stories because we were offering new and exciting features that fit well with their readerships/listenership.

We needed to spread the word about our services outside Charleston, SC, and beyond. We wanted to show up in major publications related to our industry.

What was the scope of work done?

Interdependence seeks out and identifies news outlets and publications that could use commentary from me on subject matter. They also learn about our team and process to create more opportunities for future growth.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Interdependence has helped us publish three bylines in Scotsman Guide (two) and Inman, a big real estate-focused industry magazine. We've also been featured on the cover of National Mortgage Professional, which has helped us land new national partners and re-establish our existing accounts with more recognition.

We've found placements in every important industry publication and, in some cases, a feature. We have significant growth, but it's difficult to identify a specific metric because we utilize many platforms. This has been more of a holistic approach in all phases.

How did Interdependence perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate through Zoom meetings, emails, and scheduled follow-up calls as needed. I'm pleased with the professionalism and consistency of the Interdependence team. They get the job done, and I've extended our existing contract.

IDPR was hired to be the main messaging engine to convey the benefits and applications of steel conduit in the built environment. We needed to go on the offensive and address some of the misconceptions about this product category, as competing products had all taken direct aim at unseating steel conduit as the primary electrical raceway.

We secured more media in the first 6 months of working with IDPR than we had in the previous 3 years of working with our prior agency. We have had nearly 100 feature articles and placements with countless other opportunities for commentary and reaction work.

The same system is accelerating the safety of the world’s airspace for urban air mobility

Fortem products have been developed and tested over several years through US Department of Defense (DoD) applications and are now available for commercial use.

While we primarily engaged with Interdependence for pure media relations support initially, we leaned on them for far more due to their proven capabilities. Ultimately they became a trusted partner and a literal part of the marketing team. Always focusing on delivering amazing exposure and awareness results in the media but doing that through great advice and guidance on overall marketing, branding and awareness strategies.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As the CMO for Fortem I needed to show not only increased exposure in targeted trade media but also general and global media as well. In addition, that coverage needed to elevate the positive awareness for the company and position us for improved sales and awareness to our customers and also within the financial industry for future and existing investors. The results that Interdependence drove did all that and more with very measurable and proven positive exposure on a consistent and growing basis.

Fortem sits in a very complex and technical industry and Interdependence, unlike any other firm I've worked with, was able to not only understand and navigate that environment but offer valuable guidance to even our most senior executives. Having a PR team that has the ability to not only navigate your market but position you ahead of your competition is truly invaluable and Interdependence proved this on a regular basis.

Interdependence was brought on and integrated into our marketing team to ensure our brands and products were garnering the recognition for innovations and such. In a nutshell, Interdependence's main objective was focused on earned media, followed by paid media low-funnel opportunities that drove sales as well as promoted special events. Furthermore, the quality of coverage was also a focal point.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

1. Strategy: Interdependence worked in lock step with my team and me to ensure that all aspects of the PR plan aligned seamlessly with the overarching marketing plan and goals.
2. Earned media: Over the course of one year, Interdependence steadily increased earned media placements, impressions, and quality of coverage. the high quality of earned media coveraged provided a healthy supply of licensing opportunities for accolades received. 
3. Paid media: Over the course of one year, Interdependence brought us opportunities that had significant impact on sales based on seasonality, trends, promotions, etc. 
4. Event management: Interdependence managed major trade show events and media events.

The Interdependence team embodies a perfect blend of professionalism and expertise. They are not only pleasant and fun to work with but also incredibly insightful and strategic in their approach. It's been a rewarding experience collaborating with such a capable group.
Deadlines weren't missed and changes, updates, issues, etc. were consistently communicated in a timely manner with carefully thought through recommendations on how to pivot, etc.

I am a firm believer in relationships. Whether it be romantic, platonic, or professional in nature, forging meaningful relationships that share and reciprocate knowledge, love, passion, learnings, etc. make for meaningful impacts on lives, work product, and overall health and well-being. 
Interdependence operates on a culture that is hyper focused on a healthy, integrity-based culture that promotes and supports debate, collaboration. This was most impressive to me because Interdependence laid such a solid foundation that whatever came our way and their way, not a minute was wasted. It was difficult to lose momentum with the Interdependence team because of the perfect marriage between their foundation and culture. 
Furthermore, it gave the team headspace to be able to strategize, plan, execute, measure, and optimize efforts for integrated efforts as Interdependence worked diligently to take on an integrated and collaborated approach to help me and my team ensure that the cohesive of campaigns, projects, etc. were seamlessly aligned and working together.

For the time that I worked with Interdependence, I cannot recall any areas for improvement as the team worked diligently, was always on-the-ready, and took such a holistic approach even if they have to sit in on meetings not specific to PR, etc. to ensure they were in the loop and knew and understood all areas of our marketing.
