As the Camara Fintech de Panama seeks to appoint its inaugural Executive Director, we engaged INHAUS, a leading executive search firm, to conduct a comprehensive, targeted recruitment process. The scope of work encompasses the full lifecycle of executive talent acquisition, tailored to identify a visionary leader capable of driving fintech ecosystem growth in Panama. This includes fostering innovation, building strategic partnerships, advocating for progressive regulations, and enhancing financial inclusion amid the country's dynamic digital economy.   Detailed Scope of Work 1. Needs Assessment and Role Definition (Phase 1): Collaborate with our board and stakeholders to refine the job description, competency framework, and success metrics. This involves analyzing the association strategic objectives, market trends in Latin American fintech, and required leadership attributes such as regulatory expertise, network-building acumen, and bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English).   2. Search Strategy and Candidate Sourcing (Phase 2): Develop a customized search plan, leveraging INHAUS's network to identify passive and active candidates from fintech hubs (e.g., Panama, Latin America, etc). Employ targeted outreach via databases, industry associations, and discreet networking to attract high-caliber professionals with 5+ years in fintech leadership, preferably with experience in association management or policy advocacy.   3. Candidate Evaluation and Screening (Phase 3): Conduct initial screenings, in-depth interviews, and assessments against predefined criteria. Utilize psychometric tools, cultural fit evaluations, and scenario-based simulations to gauge strategic thinking, innovation mindset, and stakeholder engagement skills.   4. Selection and Onboarding Support (Phase 4): Facilitate client interviews, negotiate offers, and perform thorough reference and background checks. The areas for improvement are on the part of the candidates, since not all of them are up to the task (they back out without warning or go back on commitments made during interviews), but none of this is attributable to INHAUS.

I'm a partner and director at a consulting company. We offer specialized consulting services in payment methods, including business, acquiring, issuing, operations, technology, and PCI, with a team of experts with over 20 years of experience in the sector.

What challenge were you trying to address with INHAUS?

We needed help finding analysts for the operations department in payment methods for one of the four most important banks in Argentina.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

INHAUS conducted several rounds of personnel searches. After three filters, they presented a shortlist of candidates for our internal evaluation. The candidates were semi-senior and senior analysts in the credit card operations department of a bank. They needed to have knowledge of the sending and receiving of information with the issuing processors of VISA, MasterCard, and American Express credit cards in Argentina.

We worked with two teammates from INHAUS.

How did you come to work with INHAUS?

INHAUS was referred to us. We chose them for the seriousness and responsibility with which they approached the search. They managed a huge amount of qualified information.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from October 2015–December 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

INHAUS's two personnel searches were successful. Our client was very satisfied with the resources' performance. One of the selected candidates joined the bank once the end client finished the project.

How did INHAUS perform from a project management standpoint?

The project was delivered on time. The searches were planned to find and hire the resources in 3–5 weeks. We communicated via phone calls, WhatsApp, email, and formal presentations of the search status.

What did you find most impressive about them?

INHAUS's responsibility, seriousness, and speed in taking our request were impressive. Moreover, they took into account that our consulting company was very small and specialized, which made it critical to find resources with the knowledge we were looking for.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There's always room for improvement, but I can't think of anything specific for INHAUS.
