Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Better user experience (we received great feedback from our clients), some of the portal components were re-used in other projects, increasing efficiency, and resilience.

Ones per 2 weeks dev review and management meetings; in constant communication on Slack; multiple tracking and release notes regularly provided to us.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It’s two things — the first is meeting very tight deadlines. They’re comfortable putting resources on a task to ensure we hit the turnaround we need for our clients. The other is the quality of work. They usually get things right the first time, so I don’t have to keep retesting a build and sending it back for another version. That cuts down the time I spend redoing work.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No, they provide exactly what we need. We like them and will increase our usage with them. We’re moving everything from an old development firm to them as of next week.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’ve worked with Perfsol while at two different companies: one was a search engine for people, and the other was a platform for creating podcasts. The latter is my current employer.

What challenge were you trying to address with Perfsol? 

For my first company, we needed to develop an admin portal. For the second project, Perfsol is creating our entire platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

At the outset of the project with my former company, we had a large project of data entry to tackle, and managing the data required a custom app to be developed. We defined the project very simply: what we needed and how we needed the application to behave. Two of their developers built the system, and we brought in a development lead when we decided to add some additional features.

The second project is an platform that allows people to upload and manage files and give context around their podcast episodes. There are also analytics features that provide creators with data on how many people have listened to their podcast. The platform has connections to both the App Store and the Play Store, as well as many other platforms. They’re both designing and developing this platform.

I provided them with a few designs and the concept for this platform, and Perfsol put together a proposal. Initially, we weren’t going to have a project manager, but it made more and more sense to bring one on as we progressed. Perfsol broke the work into quarters in their proposal with suggested budgets and personnel.

In both cases, Perfsol has worked with React.js and TypeScript on the frontend and Node.js on the backend. They’ve also leveraged Express, Kubernetes, and AWS. Both platforms are web solutions.

What is the team composition?

I worked with Nicola on the first engagement (Partner) along wth two other developers. The second project has been much larger in scale than the first, so we’ve worked with Nicola as our main point of contact, along with Roman (Project Management Wizard). Roman has coordinated everything. There’s also been one frontend developer, a backend developer, a full-stack engineer, a part-time DevOps resource, and QA resource.

How did you come to work with Perfsol? 

I found them on UpWork initially.

How much have you invested with them?

The second project has cost around $50,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together on the second project since March 2022. The first project started in September 2020 and was still ongoing when I left.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I haven’t collected any quantitative metrics, but on the quality side, communication is the most important part of working with an outsourced partner, and their communication has been really good. We can speak to them on both a product and technological level, which is very helpful. They’re reactive to changes; we appreciate how dynamic they are.

How did Perfsol perform from a project management standpoint?

Because I have a technical background, I’ve been in touch with the developers a bit on this second project. These are only small touchpoints, though. We use Slack for communication and Jira for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have very friendly leadership coming from both Nicola and Volodomyr (Co-Founder & CEO), which made the initial contracting stages very easy. Secondly, Perfsol’s communication is unlike anything I’ve seen from other outsourcing firms — very effective. Finally, their leadership takes an interest in the quality of the code that their team puts out. I can rest assured that senior resources will always review our code; if we ever take one of our projects in-house, our developers will be able to understand all of the code that Perfsol creates.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There were some points of friction early on in the second project regarding expectations and how to tackle them. We let some question marks hang in time because we were working from scratch on the platform. This required us to open a sub-agreement some time into the project. Having a project manager has mitigated a lot of potential issues, however.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure you’ve identified a technical leader on the project so you can go to someone with your questions. Take some time initially to explore the scope of the engagement as well: break it into milestones and ensure that they are layered in order of importance. Pay attention to how the work is structured.

Perfsol was, and still is, a pleasure to work with, especially regarding communication & transparency and how they handle their developers. They are truly dedicated to satisfying their clients, not only as a catchy slogan but through concrete actions that show it. We use Jira and Google meet mostly for our communications.

Perfsol has a great culture within its company. How fast they got to my project and produced the first results. Also, how proactively and come up with great and important advice & feedback for our ideas.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are very satisfied with the final software. We have not yet implemented it in the field and so have no results to share.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Excellent

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Ivan, the senior engineer, was outstanding. The entire team was exceptional and truly a top-level talent.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We, the client, could have done a better job of managing the timeline prior to war breaking out in Ukraine (our Indeema team is in Ukraine). Once the war broke out, we abandoned our timeline out of respect for the challenges our team was facing there. Not their fault and we couldn't be happier with how hard they continued to work to deliver the final software in what was clearly a stressful and dangerous time for them.

Tried using Toptal with no luck and then found Perfsol via Upwork. They listened and sounded reasonable enough to proceed with a low cost $2,000 - $43000 phase 1 prototype. which they delivered on time and within expectations. We then expanded the project in phases

We did have short weekly meetings with their project manager and developer. Sometimes and end of the week meeting with the developer for test feedback and fixes. We got them to use our Agile Project system. We documented our needs they documented what API's they needed in order to proceed

In this project 2 but worked with a project manager and developer, as things proceeded, mainly with developer and the project system, with rare meetings with the project manager,

We did have our initial Beta test app running and launched within 2 months in step with our own app and server-side development. This did require a production-level Android app to be deployed via the Play store. We continue to expand and develop with them with regular releases into our test environments with fewer into production

Used our Jira system for project management, Teams, and Slack -and some email for communications. We seem both to be good at communicating tasks, setting expectations, and then delivering on them

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Mainly their can -do attitude, proceeding at times without us having to give them detailed specifications, we both willing to proceed and agree not to sweat the small stuff, and cleaned that up when schedules allowed. In general, their estimates of effort have been pretty accurate. We now have a number of other projects, in different tech areas, such as web dev and backend development, that have supplemented our team well.

 They did well in getting the developers with the correct skillset to tackle areas that we needed. They were also honest on what their capabilities and skilled areas are.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We are pretty satisfied with the services of their development and management team.

What I find impressive is the involvement of the CTO of Perfsol in the regular stand-up calls and his immediate reaction in case of issues.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

As with any new partnership, it takes time for the two teams to get accustomed to each other's processes and policies. We already see significant improvement in that area.

I'm the CTO at MXNEY, an investment company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Perfsol?

We were building a huge platform, but we lacked developers.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Perfsol has been mainly assisting us with project management, the whole platform scope, and the actual development of the platform.

They also have been helping us with both our backend and frontend; for the frontend, we have mainly been using React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, and on the backend, it was primarily a PHP framework called Laravel.

Additionally, they work closely with me in managing and getting developers in Ukraine while looking at the structure of the team and project, such as the features we're building and in which order, and how we can organize the architecture to be sufficient. They've great experience in AWS and bear with me on different questions I have.

What is the team composition?

I've been working with the CTO. In the beginning, he was working on development as well, and since then, he has been in more of a managing project leader role. I have also been working with two frontend developers and two backend developers. In total, there are five people involved in my project.

How did you come to work with Perfsol?

I found them on Upwork; I saw their profile and invited them to the job because I saw that they had a great experience in the areas we were looking for.

How much have you invested in them?

We've spent around $25,000 with them so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with them in May 2021, and the work is ongoing. We have an excellent partnership with them right now, and I expect to use them for the longer term.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Before working with them, we had three developers in-house, and from January to May, we released around four different features in one project. With Perfsol, from May to the beginning of August, we have released nine different features in two different projects — our development speed has increased a lot.

Also, the scalability we have has been perfect for us. We can hire a new developer within one month, whereas we would have a three-month recruiting period in Denmark.

How did Perfsol perform from a project management standpoint?

We almost always hit the target when it comes to our estimates for different tasks. Of course, there are some alternatives, and also, as we are a startup, we change things and change focus sometimes, so they have done things perfectly.

In terms of communication, we have a Slack channel where we communicate all day long. They are responsive — I feel like I can get in touch at any time of the day and get a quick answer. We also have a daily meeting for about 20 minutes to catch up on all of our features or tasks — it's like they are in-house because they're reachable, and I can even text them all day long. We had one weekend where one of our systems was down, and I immediately messaged them in our Slack group; two of the guys were on the case even on the weekend, so it was perfect. We have also been using Trello and Jira for project management.

We technically have a B2B relationship, but I see it as a close collaboration where they are working for us in a different country — they are dedicated to our company, which is fantastic.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They've been good at getting their heads into our business, so they understand what we're trying to do. In the beginning, we had long meetings about what we are trying to achieve; our goals and visions, what our product is, and how we can make money. I have worked with other agencies that didn’t put themselves into the project and didn’t understand it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't think there's anything they can improve on — I think they are great, and we're happy with them. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend that you use some hours to let Perfsol understand your business and the scope. They're good at that, and I think it allows for the best collaboration. Also, engage with them personally as well — they're located only three hours from us, and I'm flying down there in a couple of weeks to meet them in person, and I think it is essential too. It goes beyond a supplier and customer relationship.
