I'm a CFO of a small business called ATLRx. We currently sell hemp products such as CBD and other cannabinoids in the US. We also work in the digital space, so we wear many hats. It’s a bootstrapped company with three tech guys that had extensive experience in technology. The hemp space was growing, so we decided to quit our jobs at big companies and start our own small hemp business. It’s been rewarding to learn a lot, and we’re still growing.

We needed help with digital marketing. We used to do it in-house, but we needed some extra bandwidth. Our business model had to change when the COVID-19 pandemic hit — we used to be just a retail store, and we didn't care too much about our website sales. We had to start relying on our site to sell our products, so we needed extra support.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Incrementors helps us with SEO, backlink creation, and all our digital marketing efforts. We decided to outsource our digital marketing after switching our business model. While we still use a franchise model through physical stores, we also now have a full-fledged e-commerce business, which is where Incrementors assists us. 

The primary area where we requested their services was backlink creation. For the first couple of months, they were basically identifying specific sites where we could post backlinks, contacting relevant web admins, and working through that entire off-page strategy. So far, they’ve been focused on creating backlinks with different web admins across the US.

The team has also conducted keyword research for us. To help us optimize our content, Incrementors essentially gives us keywords and topics to write about. We currently have a team of three content writers, and they interface with the Incrementors team now and then to discuss what kind of written content would generate more clicks on our site.

We haven't ventured into PPC because it's not really an option for us — we'd love to advertise on Google, but sadly, their terms of service do not allow cannabis retailers to utilize that feature.

We're working with two teammates. One is the project manager assigned to us, and the other is the digital marketing expert, who does the heavy lifting.

I found them through Upwork, where they had stellar reviews. We looked at other companies while interviewing them, but Incrementors was the most available whenever we reached out. We decided to test them out for three months and eventually decided to move forward with them.

In total, we’ve spent $25,000–$30,000. When we started working together, we were paying $1,200 per month. Currently, we pay a monthly fee of around $2,000–$2,500.

We started working together in August 2020, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

As a small business, we assess any marketing based on the site traffic that is generated. We measured the success of Incrementors’ work by taking a look at how many hits we get and how long those sessions are. Then, we track all that data through Google Analytics. 

The goal was to see a significant uptick in our backlink strategy, and they did an excellent job with that. Their work has led to overall success in the digital marketing space. We really needed to increase our e-commerce sales during the first few months, and thanks to the Incrementors team, we were able to hit the revenue goals that we defined. Our online sales are still growing, and our store sales have been catching up, too.

How did Incrementors Web Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

In terms of project management, we managed them very tightly during the first three months when we were testing them out. However, we’ve since established a sense of trust with Incrementors. We haven't kept up with them recently, but our internal digital marketing task force still has weekly calls with the Incrementors team. We haven’t received any complaints — it's been pretty smooth sailing. 

The other good thing about them is they're very communicative, and I never have to wait for anything. We've made the team part of our Google Workspace, where we utilize Google Chat to connect over chat easily. The digital marketing expert also has access to all the organization’s resources on Google Drive. For task management, we use Trello to keep track of tasks, assign them to teammates, and then move them into their respective buckets based on their status. Overall, they're easy to get along with and accommodating when it comes to any questions that we have. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I'm most impressed by the quality of work they deliver. Once the team learned our business, they knew exactly what we were trying to achieve. They're also communicative and approachable. The expert who works with us is great at what he does, and he’s able to quickly answer our questions well, which is the beauty of working with Incrementors. I honestly wouldn't be on this call if we weren't happy. It’s been a good experience working with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could have given us more services for the fees we’re paying. While they provided an expert who works full time with us, they don’t offer a lot of value in terms of strategy. However, we didn't really hire them to pitch the SEO services they could do — we assigned them specific tasks that we wanted them to accomplish. They could also be a bit more structured, but there’s always room for improvement. Nevertheless, we’re happy with them overall.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

If you don't have a digital marketing strategy yet, definitely try them out. The results will vary depending on how much demand there is in your industry, but they’ll provide the best service they can. Working with them will be a good investment into your online organization.

I was trying to update an existing website, but changed directions and decided to create a brand new website instead.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, we asked them to migrate my existing website to the new one. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, so I changed direction and now they’re creating a new website for me. At first, they recommended various packages that I could use to host the website, and in the end, I chose to go with WordPress.

I provided them the content, and the only research they did was to provide me with some examples of other companies or projects that they’ve done, to demonstrate my vision for the customer journey. I only had ideas and word documents on the steps of the journey and what it should look like. One of my particular requests for the website is to create different journeys for different types of customers. Speed is very important so the website needs to be very fast with an easy-to-use and simple layout. I also want to integrate an e-commerce facility.

The project is still ongoing as there are two phases of it. The first phase is nearly complete, and the second phase is the e-commerce part, where they’re going to integrate the payment facility onto the website.

As far as I understand I only have one main contact. I believe there are people working in the backend but I only deal with one person.

The project management is good. We typically communicate through Zoom, email, and Loom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I only ever worked with one web developer, and that was done without much contact. What distinguishes Incrementors from the previous company I worked with, is that they’re very particular in making sure that they have the correct requirements. If there are any amendments, they’re willing to make changes, understand the things that might go wrong, and look for alternatives.

Moreover, they’re very responsive, they always want to get the project done right, and they want the customers to be happy.

Are there any areas they could improve?

If I had to choose something, it would probably be to set and agree on a specific date to get updates at the beginning of the project. It would be good if they could make sure that they set the time for updates in advance, regardless of what the update is.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would say to be specific with your requirements for your project. Outline and document everything that you need them to do, and if you don’t get an update, they’re very responsive so you can just reach out to them.

Incrementors Web Solutions’ involvement mainly focused on the backlinking process, meaning that they linked out sites and blogs between them. We gave Incrementors Web Solutions 20 sites that they worked from scratch, so they had to do a lot of work for us to set up each website’s profile.

We found him at Upwork. We were looking for freelancers or agencies that had been doing this work already. The profile from an Incrementors Web Solutions team member stood out. When we went on an interview with him, he was amiable, proactive, and energetic; we decided to give him the project without even knowing he was part of an agency.

The engagement lasted from January–March 2021. We had to end it because the person we were working with got COVID-19, so he had to recover from that.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

SEO efforts usually take up to six months or more to demonstrate results. We were only able to engage with our liaison for about a month due to his sickness, so it wasn’t enough time to see results. I think that without the COVID-19 situation, we could’ve reached our expected results given the way we were working.

How did Incrementors Web Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

The person we worked with was great and had a lot of good tools. He was always proactive, fast, and responsible. He’d always stay on top of things by sending weekly reports. I applaud him for doing a good job in all aspects. We communicated through Upwork messenger and also through email and Skype; those were the best ways to communicate with him.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive thing about working with him was his multitasking ability and the fact that he was willing to take on 20 of our sites for that amount of money; not many people are willing to do that. We tested his skills and versatility based on that, and he passed the test.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wouldn’t change much, but maybe they could stay more communicative with the client. We lost communication toward the end, but I think that’s because he got sick.

Any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to get a list of the things they can do within your budget, so both parties are on the same page. Also, make sure you have ways to communicate with them regularly.

At the beginning of each month, we run a site audit on a client's site that points out errors and warnings that need to be fixed to improve their SEO score. We then give that audit to Ankur G. along with the site's login credentials and specific instructions on what errors to fix. He will then go into the backend of the site, fix the errors, and give us a list detailing the errors that were fixed and how they were fixed. At the end of the month, along with other deliverables, we send those edits in a report to the client so they can see how their site improved.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Every month, we see our clients' sites improve their SEO scores thanks to the onsite work taking place. Better SEO scores means the client has a better chance at ranking on the first page of Google, which is our overall and main goal.

Using Asana, I assign the task to conduct onsite optimization to Ankur (that task includes the site's login credentials and specific instructions on what to fix/change). Once he finishes making the edits and records them on our internal sheet, he will then complete that task and move on to the next client. If he or I have any questions, we communicate through Zoom, either by Chat message or phone call.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their level of expertise and ability to provide the exact service we need when we need it are impressive!

Maybe a little more training on all the different content management systems (WordPress, Squarespace, GoDaddy. etc) so no matter what our client has, they can work on them.

During the kickoff, the team presented a pretty robust plan of attack on the areas we needed to tackle. We started with on-site SEO because it was low-hanging fruit — they focused on keyword optimization to elevate our content based on our users’ language when they found our services. In terms of off-site SEO, their overall strategy focused on link building. 

We paused the project due to shifting jobs, but we plan on continuing in the future.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We started seeing the positive impact of their work after 3–4 weeks, which was very fast for this type of service. In terms of organic traffic, we saw a 15–20% increase. There was also a 10% increase in referral traffic. However, we still need to parse data to see how their work impacted our revenue.

Overall, It was a great partnership. That’s the reason why we’ve decided to continue the service when we can — we’d still be utilizing Incrementors Web Solutions if we didn’t shift our budget to another program in the meantime.

Incrementors Web Solutions was very organized. When the project started, they presented a plan almost immediately. We were able to identify the stages and the timeline of when they would be working on specific aspects of the project. Whenever we asked a technical or strategic question, they readily filled us in and gave us a nickel tour of why it was necessary, what needed to happen, and the impact it would have.

They shared all their records with us, which was delightful. I had access to the minutia of every action they took — they gave me administrative access to all tools used and all the accounts they used for link building. They were very transparent. 

Their communication skills were excellent, which was integral for us — we worked with vendors before who just started working on things without getting approval. Incrementors Web Solutions made sure that we reviewed their recommendations and approved certain things before moving forward.

We had weekly standing meetings via Zoom and regular email exchanges. We would connect to review the work completed the week before and review the proposed work for the next week. The team's response times were usually within an hour.

I was most impressed by their speed and cost-efficiency. The team worked exceptionally quickly; every week, they finished an incredible amount of work. It was a very easy relationship — the team was personable, understood our industry, and recognized our direction even when we abstractly communicated things.

We’ve been doing everything through Google Sheets and one of our files there contains the KPI report. Moreover, we also have bi-weekly calls in Google, and we also schedule phone calls. They’re good at following up and going above and beyond. Above all, they’re excellent at brainstorming, and they share a lot of different ideas that allow us to improve our website.

It’ll be nice if they use a program that has graphs and charts for our results, but they’re probably doing it because my boss likes numbers whereas I’m a visual person. I’m also interested to see them try different ways of reporting, and I want to keep hiring them to see if they can be very consistent with everything they’re doing.

Be very open and detailed with what you’re looking for. They’re in India and since there’s a time difference, you need to be on top of the communication between your teams.

Communication is a huge part of the partnership, but for the most part, the Incrementors Web Solutions team works fast and gets things done. They seem to understand what we do without us having to explain it, and they’re also talented when it comes to research.

Incrementors Web Solutions worked with us for more than one year on our SEO organic work front and our pay per click ads. This vendor was responsible for increasing our organic traffic, our keyword ranking, and our leads. The vendor worked for 40 hours each week to increase these efforts for us.

Overall, the vendor was successful in increasing our organic traffic and did so by more than 30%. We used this vendor because of their flexibility and their expertise.

We would work with Pankaj (SEO Analyst, Incrementors Web Solutions) who was the main point of contact but he had his team that he worked with us as well.

Pankaj worked with us on our SEO Front for more than a year and is one of the best subcontractors we have ever hired. Pankaj listened to all our needs and worked with his team to implement strategies that allowed us to turn the needle on our SEO efforts. I would recommend him as an SEO consultant 

Overall, the vendor was incredibly helpful and help us to increase our SEO traffic and leads. Pankaj was especially accommodating and helped with all our needs as well as gave exceptional recommendations to guide our strategy and our implementation.
