What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They tackle strategic planning different than I have experienced before.  They ensure that they allow me to be "in it" and contribute as a member as opposed to ensuring we stay on track, on time, etc.  The planning and structure of the days can be overwhelming and stressful; it is a relief having someone own this for me and bring new exciting best practices to our plannnig sessions.

So far it has been very good, we are still in our first quarter with them and so far it has been an incredible experience.  We are very excited for our future and realizing my vision feels very in reach with Incrementa's partnership.

Mike!

He know jus how to ask those questions that make you think deeper than what on the surface. He is not affriad to push you into being uncomfortable (in a good way) but knows the limits. It felt like the session was structured and set up just for me, unique to me and hot everything I needed.

Not to my knowledge, I learned a lot from them.

We engaged Mike and Incrementa for a year-long Growth Breakthrough program.  So far, we've had a couple of in-person sessions, including an 2-day annual planning session.  Mike has providing leadership coaching for the team, helped us build better quarterly and annual goals, along with a framework for continued execution of those objectives.

While only a few months into the program, we have seen tremendous success with our leadership team being aligned to a corporate vision, developing quarterly and annual goals and, importantly, achieving those goals we set out together as a team.  

This process is truly setting up our company to scale.

Mike is very well organized and consistent with the delivery of his requirements.  Each meeting, he showed up well-prepared.  When we have a question, any emails are responded to quite quickly.  As a bonus, Mike is very familiar with our project management application and is able to share deliverables directly into our workflow.

What challenge were you trying to address with Incrementa (un)consulting?

First, we needed help in defining our culture and team behaviors. Also, we wanted long-term planning to envision where our association is going and how to support our customers better.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve had two separate sessions with Incrementa (un)consulting and our entire team. Our first session was to define our culture, behaviors, and expectations. It was very collaborative; everyone was open and willing to share their opinions and thoughts on how they wanted to be treated. We went through a detailed exercise to look at how we wanted to be seen by our customers. We just used a whiteboard, but they uploaded everything to Miro so we could go back to it.

The other big conversation was about being more consistent and creating better processes. In the first step, we identified a program that could meet our needs. We wanted everyone on our team to be able to assign tasks to other people. We implemented Asana as a project management tool, and they did group and individual sessions to train our staff. We’re still in the early days of implementation.

Also, we’ve spent time following up on our behaviors and doing long-term planning this year. We’ll have a meeting soon to build out the strategy for 2023. Once we identify the long-term priority items, we can build tactical milestones on what we want to accomplish. Overall, we’ve built the foundation together, and now we’re focusing on strategic planning.

How did you come to work with Incrementa (un)consulting?

They joined our association. We started reaching out to them as part of the discovery process. When a new member joins us, we sit down and discuss who they are, what they do, and their goals and objectives for joining our association. Through that discussion, we figured we needed some of the things they specialized in, so we decided to hire them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $25,000 CAD (approximately $19,000 USD) so far, but it’ll probably end up being closer to $50,000 CAD (approximately $39,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We had our first session in May 2021 and a follow-up session in July 2021. Our relationship is ongoing; we’ll have a planning meeting in July 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Having metrics for our culture is challenging, but after the discussion about engaging our staff, we implemented some metrics to measure the effectiveness of what we do with our members. We’ve taken those behaviors and incorporated a net promoter score to gauge the effectiveness and value of the different programs and services that we offer. We’ve done that for the past year, and it has driven our conversations when we do post-event reviews.

How did Incrementa (un)consulting perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re fantastic. They keep the project on track and are clear and articulated. Also, communication is vital. They appreciate and respect that the staff has different levels of detail and are great at walking us through the process and mapping out the project. They’ve coached us to create a way that works for us instead of using a preset way of doing things. Our entire staff has valued that.

For communication, they have an online appointment booking tool. We primarily use email, but when we want to discuss something, we just go on it and choose an available time. Then, the calendar sends invites to do it virtually.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Incrementa (un)consulting has a high level of detail, and they believe in including the entire team in the process. I’ve worked for big and small companies, and this was the first time all employees were included and encouraged to participate. It stood out to me because it was very effective; it helped the team create the work environment they wanted. It was really powerful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I honestly can’t think of anything. They explain the process well and follow up to see how we’re progressing. They’ve gone above and beyond their duty.

I highly recommend them. Any team would benefit from their guidance.

We measure success based on how well we do as a business. Incrementa (un)consulting has been able to provide us with the right guidance to get our actions delivered, which is why we rate our engagement as successful. 

We have a huge trust factor between our teams. We’ve developed a better relationship with them, and each time we’ve had to work with them on a quarterly basis, the excitement level increases. In the beginning, our team was a little bit hesitant about having an external team as a partner, but they really embraced Incrementa (un)consulting once they came on board.

Incrementa (un)consulting’s communication was excellent, and they were great at meeting deadlines.

I advise any potential client to be transparent with their expectations and what they want as the end results. They’re experts in their field and going to help clients get to where they want.

I'm the CEO of Provision Data Systems Inc, which operates a data center facility in British Columbia, Canada. We have a small IT group, and our primary business is the data center colocation.

What challenge were you trying to address with Incrementa (un)consulting?

There were a couple of different industry certifications that we wanted to acquire, and one of them was an AT101 SOC 2 Type 2. We needed it to get more business in the public sector and government, but we had no idea what was involved in acquiring it. 

It was a certification that always popped out as a requirement for larger companies, and many of our peers were already in pursuit or had pursued it.  As a result, we engaged Incrementa to assist us with the acquisition of that certification. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We reached out to Mike (Business Growth Coach & Advisor) and began the journey. He laid the process out for us. He built a roadmap and assisted us in creating a framework for our policies and documentation that we were going to need to pass an audit. 

What is the team composition?

We worked primarily with Mike. We worked with another Incrementa employee regarding some sales issues, but Mike was predominantly the one we dealt with the entire time. 

How did you come to work with Incrementa (un)consulting?

It was a referral. Once we identified what we wanted, another person in a similar industry referred Incrementa to us. She’d worked with Mike before and told us we needed to engage him because he’d help us put things together. Then, we had a kickoff meeting with him and talked about what we required and what we needed to do. We started working with Incrementa then. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested between $50,000–$60,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We used their services from October 2017–November 2020. We still work with a consultant that Mike recommended, but I don’t think the person works for Incrementa. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

He took us right from ground zero all the way up to passing the audits with flying colors. We were extremely successful. Our first audit was 100% passed. In our second audit, we had one minor notice, which was a penetration test that hadn't been done within the timeframe required. That was the only thing they could find wrong, and it wasn’t really wrong — just delayed. That was our fault, not Mike's. 

He scored two for two with getting a successful audit, minimizing costs, and minimizing the amount of work that we had to do as a compliance team. He was able to structure things in such a way that we had checklists of things we needed to do. We went with Mike and never looked back. He was amazing and did a lot for our business. 

How did Incrementa (un)consulting perform from a project management standpoint?

For deadlines and communications, Mike drove the boat. He kept us going and managed us through the process to ensure that the bits and pieces were all done in a timely manner. He was excellent.  

Our organization isn’t the speediest in the world. We’re a relatively small company compared to other operators our size, so we’re busy people. Mike was able to streamline the process to the point where even we could get it done, and that was amazing. If we had questions, he was right on it.

From a project management perspective, he was always on the ball, telling us what we needed to do and by when. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The whole experience was amazing. Mike was a well-oiled machine. He knew what we needed to do when we needed to do it, and he had his finger on the pulse of the whole project the whole time. I just can't say enough good things about Mike. 

He was personally part of the team, and he was a great fit. He was there to speak to us in our language. If he needed to coach something out of somebody, he could do it. He understood the people that he was working with and could adjust his approach to match who he was having to get the work out of. 

We’ve also had some amazing conversations even offline, and I appreciated him as a consultant. He really became part of our team, and that was awesome. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there’s none. It was perfect as far as we were concerned. As a small business owner, we always think of getting the services for half the price. That would be great. But we learned the hard way that we get what we pay for. With Incrementa, we received good services. As a result, I really don’t have anything to say that could have been done better. The task was extremely well executed. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Depending on who they are or what they’re doing, they should let Incrementa drive the boat where it needs to go. They’re going to get there in the fastest and most cost-effective way possible when they let the Incrementa team do what they do best. Some people prefer sitting there and micromanaging consultants. With Incrementa, that isn’t required. 

We told Mike it was his show. He told us what to do, and we did it — and we had the best results we could hope for.
