I’m the senior editor of Rooster Post Production. We’re one of the top commercial editing houses in Canada.

What challenge were you trying to address with ihousedesign?

I engaged with them for a complete redesign of our website. The main objective was to showcase our work in a stylized yet effortless way for our clients. Having an interface and design is pretty complicated. We have a backend we constantly update and display our new commercials, films, and music videos in a way our clients can see our work and hire us based on that visibility.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

ihousedesign had worked on the last update of our website. This engagement was another redesign from the ground up. Our team wanted to do a complete overhaul. We held some initial creative discussions about what we wanted to do with the website.

I created mockups, and they refined them. I got into the backend stuff. They pulled CSS off of wire drives and XML files. Their team provided us with a CMS so we can update the website remotely. We have control over that, which is crucial in our business.

What is the team composition?

There were between 4–5 people working with us. After the initial conversations, we received a point person.

How did you come to work with ihousedesign?

I was connected to them through a commercial film director I work with. I was blown away by his website so I reached out and asked who did it for him. He immediately introduced me to ihousedesign.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested between $40,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project ran from May–October 2019.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Without question, our business has improved, and we’ve landed higher-profile international work as a result of the website. We’ve received a lot of feedback from our clients and people we work with about how much they’re blown away by the design and execution of the website.

How did ihousedesign perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was great. They’re great, creative problem solvers who aren’t afraid to point out when something could be improved or reworked. It was very collaborative but at the same time on point.

Our point person was incredibly responsive to our ideas. In many cases, our new ideas involved them having to recode things and they rolled with it. Their team took my initial ideas and vastly improved what I proposed. They were creative yet technical but also problem solvers.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re incredibly gifted at collaborating and solving problems rather than creating them. Their team is efficient at versioning and showing us something rather quickly; It was rapid prototyping that showed me early coded versions — through video — that present the interaction of how something was working or not working.

Are there any areas they could improve?

My experience with them was nothing short of amazing. I have nothing but positive feedback. They’re a tremendous group of web designers and coders. Their work and how they approach things are leaps and bounds better than other agencies I’ve worked with.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t be afraid to propose ideas and let them run with it. Be open to their creative input as well. They have a really talented group of creative and technical problem solvers.

I use ihousedesign for all of my book designs, website, marketing, and e-blasts.

What was the scope of their involvement?

ihousedesign designs my website, e-blasts, marketing materials, and books. Their team also does analytics for my e-blasts as well. They’ve managed social media advertising for me. I have eight published books, and their team worked with all of those. For my e-blasts, they design templates that are mailed out to my mail lists.

I interact with two people, including the owner.

My friend, a highly respected artist, recommended them. Once I started to work with them, it was effortless.

I spend up to $5,000 a month.

What is the status of this engagement?

I’ve worked with them since 2002.

I couldn’t have created and continued my success without ihousedesign. They’re incredible to work with. I’ve been with them for 20 years, and I’ve been happy with all of their work.

How did ihousedesign perform from a project management standpoint?

From a project management standpoint, they do an excellent job. They provide monthly reports.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their customer service makes them stand out. They under-promise and over-deliver. A lot of people I’ve tried to work with are the opposite.
