We wanted to create a video that we could use on social media to highlight our work.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Ideal Insight did video production for us. They came and looked at all the different parts of our business, and then they did a brief of shots to do. Consequently, they started with the shooting process and put together a couple of clips. Ideal Insight also designed creative assets, including video links and types of music to go with them. Their efforts included storyboard writing, video editing, and audio mixing.

Regarding the deliverables, the end product was a three-minute video, which included drone and handheld footage with subtitles and no voiceover.

We worked with their project manager, a drone pilot, two ground crew members, and a graphic designer.

I found them in a Google search and chose them because they were very responsive and delivered good value for the money.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from August–October 2022.

We received compliments on the video that Ideal Insight produced for us.

They were easy to engage with, delivered on time, and led a swift process. Regarding tools, we used email and Microsoft Teams.

We wanted to create a brand film that encompassed the thoughts, feelings and emotions of the key personas within our target audience - positioning us as the brand that best understands them, a film that is emotive and leaves them feeling inspired in order for us to utilise the film in our digital brand awareness launch for September

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We sourced around 5-6 different agencies, and requested proposals from each of them following an initial call. With this, we found Ideal best understood what we were about as a brand and the impact we wanted to have with this campaign. Also the fact that they had worked with similar brands like Unite Students gave them that added edge as well.

First we had a Creative Onboarding Call where we laid out and agreed what the key deliverables and impact for the film and wider campaign were. Also any initial thoughts we had re the storyline direction & personas, and agreed timelines for the campaign.

They then did all of the casting/sourcing for us, and set up the initial script - which we worked together to finalise both before filming and on the day. We then had two days of filming which they sorted the locations for us before 2-3 rounds of edits to produce the final versions - one full length 1-min brand film and 1 short version for paid social.

We worked with our dedicated account manager, as well as a director and camera operator and production assistant - all of them were absolutely fantastic in responding to feedback, adapting quickly to what we needed and ultimately producing a stand-out film for us.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have just launched the campaign today but initial feedback from the wider company has been overwhelmingly positive.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Excellent - feedback and comms were quick and always got what we needed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I think what was particularly excellent was that their ethos/values and style of working were very aligned to ours - being hyper flexible and adapting to make sure we got the job done to the best level of what we were after, despite the limited time frame we gave them.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not from our side! Although perhaps we could have done some of the editing feedback as written and then met on a call to clarify everything we meant, as inevitably things can get lost in miscommunication over email. However, that's a very small point that didn't really negatively impact the project in any way, and one for us to take forward to!

Ideal Insight worked with our designers on the look and feel of the videos to ensure consistency. We provided scripts and worked with them to capture footage from the products. Ideal Insight edited the videos, adding motion graphics, typography and adding a ton of production value in post. They also worked with us to source VO artists that suited our brand.

These videos play a key role in winning and supporting new merchants. Collectively they have had thousands of views, and we've linked them to major improvements in our user journey.

They showcased great collaboration and flexibility. As we continued to work on projects Ideal Insight's production manager became very familiar with our products to the point he was almost self-sufficient.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Great attention to detail, flexibility and highly invested in the relationship.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Perhaps the only constructive advice I could give is that as our working relationship progresses, to proactively offer us more consultation and thought leadership on how demo video content is evolving and changing to help us make the best content.

We had our own project manager and a team who we dealt from beginning to end, giving us confidence all the way.

We have been specified on several projects as a direct result of the video produced.

Our project was dependent on many factors, we were held up by various test results, this was caused by a third party. Ideal Insight were patient and reassured us that the project would be completed as soon as they had all relevant details and they were as good as their word.

They provided total service tailored to our needs in a very specialized and important industry.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Through very difficult times during the pandemic - Ideal Insight were always available for us. So for us, we have no notes of improvement.

For all of our projects, we usually start with giving the team a brief about the client, their business scenario and relations with our company. We then create a question bank for the interview. Ideal Insight's team then goes down to the shoot location with their crew (on our behalf) and conducts the interview. They are very flexible in terms of availability and even make arrangements for us to oversee the shoot via Zoom.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We have worked with multiple videographers in the team and all of them have been very professional. Our account director Nick is always helpful & accommodating to our needs.

After an initial meeting with stakeholders the company drew up eight themes and storylines, understanding our aspirations they guided us to the best platforms and then refined the six chosen themes, working to a tight timetable made more difficult due to Covid restrictions

Road safety is often a hard topic to achieve engagement in, but the videos resulted in a high level of views and the cost to us per click through to our website was 0.02p which is excellent value.

The Account Manager was quick to respond and understood the unique stance of our organisation in that there were multiple stakeholders paying into the campaign who each required an input and bespoke feedback on the campaign

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We appreciate their innovation and speedy knowledge gathering that produced excellent short social media films. They addressed different aspects of the overall campaign aim

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We were able to afford a repeat of the campaign a year later, so the assets are still held in high regard and remain well received by the target audience. Feedback from stakeholders raised an unforeseen issue with one of the films but the company was quick to address this in order to achieve stakeholder satisfaction, so I cannot think of anything they should or could have done differently.

Through an initial search on Google. We have to take 3 options to the decision-maker and compare and contrast. Our deciding factor came down to the fact that we felt we received a very professional experience with Nick at Ideal Insight and that he fully understood what we wanted.

The video is a one-minute promotional video as well as 7 smaller videos of our premium spaces. We had initial discussions, then two shoot days, 3 rounds of edits and then the final video.

I worked with Nick to discuss what we wanted and Rob on the two days of filming. Both were very professional, understood what we wanted and were helpful to respond. They really delivered exactly what we wanted.

We have had some really good feedback from clients and competitors with regards to the product. We are having the video embedded into our website which enables us to quote our clients and include these videos. In the current climate, this helps us sell.

On completion of a funded sport based project for young wheelchair users, in partnership with another Not for Profit, we requested video content to consider how learning and impact could be shared beyond the lifetime of the project. The videos will feature on our website, social media and will compliment a webinar and PDF resources, aimed at encouraging, empowering and better equipping sports practitioners (PE teachers, community sports coaches, etc) to be able to deliver inclusive sport and inspiring young wheelchair users to participate in sport.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We liaised with a couple of video production companies, taking into account our budget, timelines and availability. Ideal Insight fit the brief and understood our vision.

Initial discussions took place with our Comms team to understand the brief and the look and feel of our brand. Filming dates were set and a discovery video call was had with the team coordinating the project and young people. Filming was relaxed and friendly, adapting to unexpected interruptions or noises. Communication after the event was efficient, open and in good time.

We worked with Nick in project management and Jack in production. Both were excellent to work with, efficient and great communication. Content was shared via Vimeo links and regular emails.

The videos are yet to be shared, they will be part of a larger body of work that continues to raise awareness, measure impact, develop learning opportunities and promote inclusivity.
