I'm the COO of an engineering consulting company that is working with clients across Europe and the US.

For what projects/services did your company hire Hexastack?

We worked with Hexastack on a variety of projects in the field of web development, mostly developing web and cross-platform mobile applications with partners in Germany.

How did you select this agency and what were the deciding factors?

One of our former employees is one of the co-founders of the company and through him we also got to know the rest of the team closely. They have strong expertise in web development and also share the same values and mindset when it comes to engineering and people culture.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

They onboarded 1 engineer to help us rebuild the client's mobile website from an old, downscaled experience from 2015 - it’s a code-separate platform using an outdated technology stack that’s poorly understood. It’s not built or experimented upon - and is not being maintained. The objectives were to: Make mobile web easy to maintain and experiment upon. Improve engagement and experience for mobile web visitors. Improve the SEO strength of mobile web to be ready for a mobile first indexing. Project was implemented in React Js

Describe the recruitment process in detail.

We compared the competencies with our technical requirements, then had a first behavioral interview and then a technical interview with a live coding challenge.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

In rapid time we upgraded the mobile web user experience using a modern stack - making it easy to maintain and experiment upon, while improving its SEO strength. The work improved the Google Lighthouse score by 18% and enables multiple user growth initiatives across the company to be implemented. We received an NPS score of 10/10 for the project. Hexastack's engineer received very good feedback.

They showed solid programming skills and technical project management expertise.

I’m the CEO and founder of TELUP INC, a BPO and telemarketing company. I also run a web development company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Hexastack?

We hired Hexastack to help us with web development, CRM, and integration consulting for our project management software.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Hexastack started by creating a WordPress website for us and integrating it with HubSpot and Zoho. They took one of the WordPress templates, stripped down the CSS, and modified the design to fit our needs. They also customized the website code to make it faster and perform better during page speed tests. 

After they completed the initial project, we wanted to develop a custom project management software called Done App, so we collaborated with Hexastack to build the design layout and functionality. Then, we laid out the project line by line on a Gantt chart and evaluated each step together. After that, we began developing the software in Joomla CMS, which required about 2,000 hours of work. They stripped down the CSS from Joomla to make the software faster. 

Once Hexastack developed the software, they tasted the recipe by conducting testing to identify bugs. Then, they developed version 2.0 of the software and linked it to a billing software called FreshBooks. 

Now, we’re working on financing the third phase of the project, in which we’ll rebuild the product in Stack Overflow before launching it to the public. We have another 500–700 hours ahead of us to develop more specific ticket templates and other features. 

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with 4–5 team members on the Hexastack team, but our main point of contact is Mohammed (CEO).

How did you come to work with Hexastack?

I used to work with Mohammed, and we remained friends when we started our own companies. I reached out to Hexastack for our initial web development needs, and we continued working together.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested roughly $200,000 CAD (approximately $150,000 USD) in the partnership with Hexastack.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with Hexastack since February 2018, and the partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The project management software works well, and I’ve been happy with the results. They've made the tool fast and user-friendly, and we've been able to use it to manage our projects, which has been great. 

How did Hexastack perform from a project management standpoint?

Hexastack has managed the project using an Agile methodology, which has worked for us. We primarily work with Mohammed, who is very intelligent and calm; he understands the overall project priorities. Whenever we panic, he steps in to ease our pain; he’s very trustworthy. We use Done App to keep track of tasks and communicate via Zoom, Slack, and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’ve been most impressed by Hexastack’s imagination and attention to detail regarding code. They’re not salespeople; they’re geniuses who can code. They care deeply about product functionality and solving everyday problems with code. They’re passionate about creating meaningful tools rather than redundantly coding website after website, and that’s impressive.  

Are there any areas they could improve?

Hexastack is fantastic when it comes to code, but they could improve by hiring more staff to take care of customers, so they can focus on the technical aspects and take on more business.

A client of mine needed a website, but my area of expertise was more in web design. Hence, I had to find a web developer.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Hexastack provides me with e-commerce development services. They’ve helped me develop an MVP for an e-commerce brand. They’ve advised me to use PrestaShop as the platform.

I found them through an online search.

We’ve spent around $4,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our partnership started in January 2021, and it’s still ongoing.

The site they’ve delivered worked properly, and the UI/UX design is perfect. The collaboration has been successful, and we’re planning to work on a new project with them.

How did Hexastack perform from a project management standpoint?

They always deliver on time. For communication, we mainly use phone calls and sometimes email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Mohammed really understands what our problem is — in fact, he was the only one who asked me about the challenges of our business.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They can Improve the logo and the visual identity of their brand.

Be transparent, and when they ask questions or any documents, don’t be afraid to give them.

launch an innovative chatbot, NLP based and that supports multi-langages including the local dialect. The main objective was to reduce the trafic handled by the customer care which was achieved thanks to an incredibly low handover rate.
