What does your business do and what is your role at your company?

Based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, True Motion has started in 1998 as production company, working with pre-production, storyboards, animatics, character design, 3D animation, motion graphics and special effects and post-production for institutional and advertising movies. 

Over 20 years of experience, True Motion has been working for other studios, TV channels, advertising agencies, production companies and industries from several segments. 

True Motion also invests in its own entertainment projects, distribution, licensing and merchandising, representing foreign companies in Latin America, by managing its co-production, distribution and merchandising business on the territory. 

In order to facilitate the business of distributing foreign series in Latin America, we also developed a new business model for those companies which want to start their projects with guaranteed sales in Brazil and Latin America saving about 30% of pre-production budget.

What is the main reason you hired the service provider?
It’s about the celebration of the first co-production deal between China and Brazil for an animation series production.
We reached York Animation because of the need to have as a business partner a production company that works with excellent professionalism and quality in delivery. York was introduced to me as a reputable company that has been operating for a considerable time in the entertainment and animation market.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Working through a co-production business model, York Animation was responsible for several important stages for the completion of the work. They acted in the production of character animations, lighting, rendering and post-production of the animation series in which we divided the intellectual property.

Specific 3D animation software were used according to its own workflow. We worked together in the art /animation direction of the 52 4-minute episodes of our joint work.

From the service provider’s company, what is the team composition?

From its massive team, York Animation has made available at least 40 professionals to work on our common product. They were generalist 3D artists, lighting and rendering artists, 3D character animators, editors and post-production artists, whom I had the pleasure of meeting, in part, in person when I was very well received at the company.

How did you come to work with the vendor? 

We met at an international event when I was formally introduced by foreign business partners.

What is the status of this engagement? 

The project is in progress and in production, as there is no expiration date for our partnership, as we are jointly working for the profits of our investments in the coming years, after the end of this production step.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The exhibition of part of the product itself, on one of the biggest television networks in the world and its success in latin america already shows, in a clear way, the commitment of our partnership.

How did the vendor perform from a project management standpoint?

Working as expected, meeting all demands quickly and assertively.

All communication of approval of the steps were properly documented and filed. For the transfer of large files, reliable transfer platforms indicated by York Animation were used.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive thing is the way the team interacts with each other. Communication flows clearly and we were surprised to find this engagement considering we are on the other side of the globe. The artistic ability and creativity also impressed our directors a lot.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Yes, improvements are always possible and very welcome. We must work together to build our network of contacts worldwide, focusing on continuous improvement in the selling processes and maintainance of our intellectual property.

What business challenge were you trying to address with the vendor? What is the main reason you hired the service provider?

We have built a strong relationship with Henan York since 2015. The main reasons are strictly connected with the quality and timely performance of the services. The applied fees are reasonable and thus the value for money ratio is top among our vendors and service providers.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Henan York is supporting us in the production of our cartoons.

They provide us a wide range of services, from assets creation, u to full delivery of animated program. So far we have been cooperating with them on both 2D and 3D shows, which imply a variety of animation techniques (and therefore different kind of softwares, render engines and so on).

The number of resources employed in the services required by our company can be much variable. Generally, I can say that for each project we had a client manager, a project manager, a producer as well as different artists assigned to work on our project and assist in the completion of the services
 

How did you come to work with the vendor?

We met Henan York in an international trade show (it was Las Vegas Licensing Expo in 2015); after that meeting representative of the vendor came to visit our facilities in Rome and few weeks after I personally went to visit their facilities with reciprocal satisfaction

Still ongoing, as I said, we have a number of projects together, in the past, in the present and in the future

I believe that the best answer is that we are committed to more projects together also for future years

Generally, the performance has been timely and always with satisfactory quality.

Their commitment, flexibility, and capacity to manage highly stressful situations were impeccable.

Deliver the animated video within the schedule as planned, and of course with a reasonable budget. York was referred to me by our partner and I am very happy with the recommendation.
