Be as expressive as you like in creating your avatar, have fun with it! 

Then, get read to take your avatar out into our brilliant, virtual, open world. Start off at your own pace, select your bedroom to hang out in, have friends over or go and visit in their rooms. When you are ready, simply select which 'open world' you want to visit.

I’m the founder of a construction field platform.

I had an idea for an application that I wanted to develop.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I approached Gritbyte Labs as an individual to develop some software for me. The project is around VR technology for the construction industry. The primary hardware we’re using for development is Quest 2. Eventually, we’ll have an application available for desktop, iOS, and Android.

What is the team composition?

I’ve worked with the owner and founder. I’m also in touch with a project manager, and they have developers working on different parts of the project.

How did you come to work with Gritbyte Labs?

I found Gritbyte on Fiverr and spoke with the founder. We had a few initial conversations, and we hit it off immediately. He was around the same age as me and was very knowledgeable about AR, VR, all the platforms that go along with it, and everything necessary to develop the app.

Moreover, they were very forthcoming with information and timely with their responses. Gritbyte Labs was completely transparent with their proposal. I found it very reliable, so I decided to pull the trigger and start working together.

I’ve spent around $3,300 so far.

The partnership started in May 2022, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

My experience with them has been good. They’re very knowledgeable about the different platforms, specifically their usability, and how the end user will experience a specific application, which is helpful. Also, they’ve been forthcoming with information, open to collaboration, and open to meeting and discussing questions they might have. They’ve been consistent since day one; they didn’t taper off the service once they received the money.

The work is high quality. We haven’t experienced any bugs yet, but I keep giving them feedback on what needs to change. They’re responsive to feedback — they take all my comments, analyze them, and take care of them. Sometimes they don’t understand something completely, but it isn’t anything that a phone call can’t sort out. 

How did Gritbyte Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve done a fantastic job communicating and staying on budget. They’re fairly communicative. Usually, they send emails or text messages to keep me in the loop of where they are or if they have any questions. 

Since they’re based in India, we work in different time zones. I’m pretty busy in the mornings, so if they can’t get a hold of me, they send me pictures in an email with questions I can respond. If it isn’t enough, we can hop on a call.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their biggest strengths are their communication and technical expertise in the platform. They’ve been doing a phenomenal job. Overall, I’m pretty happy with their work, and the cost is reasonable.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wouldn’t necessarily consider it negative, but more exposure to different projects would benefit them. The owner has worked on various projects, so he’s pretty quick at grasping what I want to do in my application. However, the project manager is a bit new, so even if he understands it, he hasn’t had that level of experience yet. There’s a communication gap, but it’s not to the point where repeating it doesn’t solve the issue. If he doesn’t understand, he always asks.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

A specific initiative involves a lot of time, energy, and ideations. Therefore, when you communicate with Gritbyte Labs, be sure you’re giving them the whole picture, or at least enough for them to start developing something. Also, be on top of the communication. Apart from that, they’re good at getting back to you if there are any questions.

I’m a consultant, so I work with multiple companies. For this project, I’m serving as a technology services company's head of data science.

We had the opportunity to build an AR/VR solution for the healthcare industry but didn't have the in-house resources to complete the task.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Gritbyte Labs provided development support for our AR/VR project using Unity. The software was a training simulation to be used by healthcare professionals. We had multiple requirements, primarily focused on a ventilator training simulation. Gritbyte Labs didn't just create one simulation but a suite of simulations for training healthcare professionals.

We initially found Gritbyte Labs through an employee reference after we shut down some of our operations and had to outsource the work.

We’ve invested about £50,000–£100,000 (approximately $57,000–$114,000 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing collaboration with Gritbyte Labs began in December 2020. This specific project was from December 2020–December 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Initially, the project was just to create the prototype, but we got a lot of additional funding because of the high-quality prototype, so we could completely develop it. A few regional hospitals are now using our AR/VR software. 

How did Gritbyte Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Gritbyte Labs has stuck to our budgets, although there have been some changes because of offset costs. Those changes have been perfectly understandable. If there are ever delays, we’re always made aware of them beforehand. Typically, we communicate through email and WhatsApp groups. We’ve also started using Discord, Slack, and Zoom.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Gritbyte Labs’ pricing and the quality of work they provide are very good. Their team is honest about their capabilities, which is why we’re still working with them. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

They’re excellent and dedicated to learning new technologies to help develop solutions that meet our needs, but their project documentation needs improvement.

I’d recommend Gritbyte Labs to anyone who needs help with AR/VR development. It’s also important to be proactive and follow project management processes.

Gritbyte Labs provides us with VR and AR development. The team is helping us develop a VR metaverse, AR technology for children and teenagers, and hologram technology communication. The end product will be a social and educational solution for people to have a safe and family-friendly virtual environment which will be moderated. Gritbyte Labs will also offer maintenance for the technology.

We’re working with eight teammates from Gritbyte Labs, though I only communicate with Pramod (Founder) and Sugosh (Project Manager). 

How did you come to work with Gritbyte Labs?

I found them through a Google search. I interviewed 4–5 candidates for the job and got on really well with Pramod. Moreover, I’d heard of Gritbyte Labs’ reputation, and it was less expensive to get development offshore than in the UK.

We’ve spent roughly £125,000 (approximately $142,000 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Gritbyte Labs has often sent me the APK file that I've used on a VR headset, and I've experienced the virtual world where people can walk around and communicate with our users. Overall, the team is extremely hardworking. 

How did Gritbyte Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

They're very professional and more than meet the deadlines. We communicate very often, and our main method of communication is WhatsApp on mobile phones and desktops. When sending large files, we use Google Drive. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I chose Gritbyte Labs' because Pramod is a nice person who's very good with communication. Sometimes people find it difficult to understand my Scottish accent, and other candidates had trouble with this communication barrier. However, Pramod understands my accent and is very polite and quick to respond. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't have any constructive feedback; they're very professional. When they've run into a problem, such as installing multi players into the solution, they talk to me and put in the extra hours to get the job done. This means an awful lot because they've put in hours when they don't have to and haven't asked for more money when they could have. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Take time to meet with them, discuss the project and get to know them before you make a final decision. I'm glad I took a few weeks to look around and see who would best suit me, and now I'm very happy that I chose Gritbyte Labs. My decision ultimately went to Pramod, who's exceptional.

The engagement started in May 2022 and is still ongoing. We plan to contract them full time to develop our product if everything goes well.

The engagement is going well. They're building a very basic version of the main product, and considering it's a new domain in the market, they've done a great job, which has only taken them four months to do.

In addition, they've been very transparent in the entire process. Their team has told me things that the other developers didn't, which shows that they aren't money hungry and only want to work.

They developed an entire storyboard within the established timeline, which was very detailed and professional. In terms of communication, we use LinkedIn, phone calls, and text messages.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We appreciate the integrity with which they work as a team and not as an outsourced team.

I think they could deliver more swiftly. However, this is something that we're working on for the first time, so it can take time for them to comprehend what we want.

Go ahead and give them a try. It's not always about how much experience a company has, also consider other factors like trust and honesty.

Key deliverables included the initial planning, budgeting and timeline, purchase and development of VR assets, sharing and testing drafts, revising drafts based on feedback, and assisting with the submission of the final draft to the Oculus app store.

Gritbyte Labs followed a wonderfully rigorous project management process. They began the engagement with a clear and detailed project plan that included a breakdown of estimated times and costs for every task. They were flexible in their response to changes in the requirements or scope that cropped up along the way.

And they were patient when it came time to test the most difficult feature of the app -- real-time international voice chat. They made themselves available for virtual meetings via Zoom whenever a face-to-face conversation was more efficient than messaging back and forth. And they worked hard to ensure that I was pleased with the final deliverable.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was most impressed with their disciplined approach to project management. I was highly impressed with their creativity, agility, and overall professionalism.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Gritbyte Labs could have done differently?

My only frustration was the time zone difference. In hindsight, it may have made sense for us to discuss office hours -- perhaps establish an overlap in our schedules -- so that real-time communication could happen more efficiently.
